I absolutely love everything on here! I do have a few questions though Is Straken's shotgun a pump shotgun? If so, how does he pump it with that amazing chainblade arm?

I have a question

What tricks do you use with GS that you can tell us?

Do you use specific tools for example.

Nice work with all the green stuff, I wish I could come close to your skills. Where did you get the wire mesh on the HB team? Hope your dad gets better soon!

@tony_nids_10: remember that 'straken' is strength 6 toughness 4 - I think that makes him pretty much badass enough to pump it with one hand. This issue did occur to me whilst doing it but I decided that as he has a giant chainsaw for an arm, the technicalities of his gun were not worth the sleepless nights.

@irtaco: thank you very much

@ghosty: I can't really tell you anything that people havn't already said time and time again. Practice, patience, having a solid idea of what you want to do. These are all the main things along with a bit of skill but that can be developed with practice. I work almost exclusively with a couple of colour shapers. One chisel ended one with a rounded top that I use for 75-80% of the work I do. Aside from that an assortment of different gauge tubes and pins/needles. Anything that isn't a colour shaper gets stuck in a pot of vaseline prior to touching any green stuff to ensure smoothness.

@Stretch: the mesh is automotive repair stuff that you put over a hole in your car as a framework for fibreglass. Should be able to pick it up anywhere that sells that kinda thing. Comes in A5 sheets (in the UK at any rate) and don't really cost much. Pretty good for wire fences on scenery too.

Well here we are again. Nearly another month has gone by without an update - largely due to my dads back and then other commitments stopping me from getting work done on the renegades. However, some small progress is starting to be made.

I have put together a regimental standard guy for the CCS. Still a few bits to tidy up on the icon. Going with SM scout legs for all of the 'straken' CCS to unify them with the commander. To keep them alike to the other guard type guys though I've done away with the scout torsos and arms and sculpted up my own torsos and am using a combination of marauder and catachan arms for beefy chaos goodness. Just need to decide whether to give the CCS plasmas or meltas now and get on with them.

Have also been getting some work done on the tech-magos. He's stil quite WIP. Need to add more detail to the sides of his track unit and add some more wires to the servo arm as it looks too bare. Not to mention finish building his power weapon which is only half done at the moment. Also need to add a little extra 'zing' to the right hand side of his base to balance it out a bit.

As any self-respecting dark mechanicus representative wouldn't turn up for battle alone, I have also been doing some work on servitors. The previously posted one is pretty much ready for paint.

Another servo-arm one is also in the works. Just need to do his actual lifting gear and decide what to do with his left arm and put some wires from the brain to the back.

Finally a heavy bolter servitor. Not a huge fan of standard servitors with huge guns bolted to them so decided on a platform manned by a servo-skull. Quite like how it looks now but still need to do a little more detail work on the skull.

Thanks for looking, C&C always welcomed.

Well its been an age since my last update - my bad! Been a bit sidetracked by other things so progress has been rather slow.

So what have I actually done? Well, the PBS is now finished.. Quite happy with how they came out. Was a bit unsure of the OSL effect on the eyes but en-mass I think it works.

Have also finished painting up the three servitors. Went for a blueish undertone worked up to a grey-rotting flesh kinda highlight. Going for a preserved flesh look rather than walking zombie tone. Hope people don't mind the brightly coloured wires. Did them that way to provide a contrast to the flesh and the grimy trousers but it distracts very slightly from the grimdark..

Also have the veteran squad all sculpted and built. SM scout shotguns and home-made meltas. Gone for more of a hoods over faces rather than gas mask look to distinguish them from regular troops. They're also a bit more tatty and war-worn. Painting is now under-way on these - hopefully won't take me 4 months to get them done...

That's it for now, should soon have the vet squad done along with a couple of tanks.
C&C always welcome

Nice as usual, and as for the wires, I don't think they detract from the imagery, it brings some much needed colour into the force.

Like.
nothing like a bit of dark mechanicum. Although I do wander why they are called the dark mechanicum when the ordinary mechanicum is hardly a green sunlit field with dancing bunny rabbits and butterflies. But if you can take something sinister, gruesome and twisted and then add extra evil then It can only work out for the best

Cheers fellas. Got the vet squad half painted. Hopefully get them done over the next week. Also been having a play with some zombie guard type guys to use up the leftover guard parts I have and all the zombies I seem to have laying about. I'll chuck up a few pics of those soon as well. Dunno what role they would play in an actual army list, conscripts maybe? Time will tell though...

@ Black Ram: Glad you like the sarge's hood. Looking even better with some paint on it ..

@Sageheart: Ask and you shall receive

1: Take a standard lasgun - I prefer the cadian ones with only one hand on them as the other hand fits nicely under the new melta
2: Chop it down to look like this (take off the barrel and ammo clip, also the raised button/light bits off the surface so its pretty much flat above where the ammo clip goes)
3: Glue on a suitable length of tube - I use a cut down bit of cotton bud / q-tip - for the barrel. GS on the front grip and the details
4: GS the barrel detail (I did a crappy job of this as I was only doing it for demonstration) and bend a bit of guitar string for the cable and glue that into place. I use .56 gauge.

@ manoknok: The servitor skin is quite simple. Its basically vallejo model colour luftwaffe blue as a base, then a this with a touch of elf flesh, then that blended up with increasing amounts of rotting flesh.

Anyways, very nice. I'm glad to see you haven't stopped working on it.

Have a Renegade army blog of my own i'm working on and it's alwasy awesome to see other blogs for these armies. One of the best parts is that those of us with these blogs always have a different and unique army style to each of our renegade armies and I have to say I love yours. The modeling is fantastic (little jealous at your Green Stuff skills!) and the army colors are appealing to me. Looking forward to seeing more of your work! Keep it up, also great tut on the melta.
