Sorry it's been a while.

First up is my Marbo Proxy. Which i still need a name for so any suggestions would be good.


Final finished my first squad of Ghoul Legion (Penal Legion)


I bought another lot of parts to make a 2nd squad for no other reason then I liked the way they turned out.

I've also finished painting my Psyker Battle squad, my proxy bodyguards and my heavy bolter turrets. I now also have a 10 man squad of rough riders and have bought some more forge world traitor guard supplies.
I'll be posting more pics in the next day or 2.

Excellent stuff. I love your conversions. Seriously, this plog may deliver slowly, but it does deliver all kinds of fascinating weird menace. The army has a distinctive gothic feel to it, very "real" in an entirely 40K way. Keep posting, please.

The only thing I can think of is to add some highlights. Your shading is great, but it makes the models a bit dark. The purple armour in particular would benefit from some edging (in my opinion, of course ).

As for a name for your Marbo stand-in, the character from Star wars clone wars; Assaj Ventress kinda fits... (its my little brother's favourite program so I've seen it a couple of times...enough to know the names...dear me I'm sad)

The penal legions are really creepy... Are those Pig Irons heads?

The purple you use is a nice colour as well, I like it!

I only have one question though : is the CSM Terminator the one you intend to use as Straken? If so, you might consider using a CSM in Power Armour instead, it matches Straken's 3+ save better, and will raise less concerns about that "counts-as".

@Flinty: As with all things the photography doesn't convey the real life colour of the model. Whilst I could do highlights i won't because 1) I like the deep purple colour and 2) i'm lazy
That being said I probably would do highlights on something like marines but the dull look is excusable for chaos.

@Imperial Monkey: I havn't seen the Clone wars (though i hear good things) I would rather an original name and not one that would have a potential opponent say 'hey that's from star wars'

My Psyker Battle Squad

Oh we love Pig Iron! I got the first every pack of system trooper heads, and they wrote a lil note telling me so. What nice people.

Erm anyway back on topic - The squads are really coming together now, the ghoul squad looks amazing. They just seem ready to run across the table and tear into something. The psyker squad too is full of movement. only crit with them is the contrast between their robes and the bases. Is there anyway to brighten one of them up to give you a greater contrast?

It is good. Thats fair enough...Just an idea. Its looking really good. I like the colours, although I have to agree with Yggdrasil in the stand in idea...

@Lennysmash: I'm sure they were as please to be selling them as you were to be buying them.
Back on topic. Now that you mention it I may revisit the original base scheme (you can see here) I got sort of overlooked.

This base is the same except i've dry brushed it with grey.
