Only on the more elite units, the standard assault squads will have pre-heresy jumpbacks. Their appearance won't be as chaotic with the exception of the fallen librarians and Honor or should I say terror Guard. You'll just have to wait and see.

You models, you money, you do what you want with them, personally I would suggest to these people that unless they are going to pay for your models then they should suck it up and respect your property and ideas, at the end of the day it does get very boring seeing yet another marine army turn up on the table, I would suggest you find a different group of people to play with, sadly however a lot of people lack imagination, the other option is bitch slap the next person who starts carrying on like that

I say, keep it going on the side. Do a model for each unit so you can keep the idea on the workbench.
Local gamers elbow your minis off the table? Don't play with them. "Counts-as" should be good enough. Power gaming doesn't need massive conversions.

Dang! I didn't expect this much of an uproar, well don't worry guys I plan to return to this project at a later date.
But for the moment I want to try building an army that offically exists in the 40k univerise and you can't get much better than the first traitor legion.

Yeah. Sounds like those whiners aren't worth wasting your time or energy on, actually. In fact, send 'em our way and we'll gladly discuss what powergaming _really_ is (hint: not using the Ork codex).
Expanding new ideas is how stuff gets in to the fluff. Hope you go ahead with this after your Night Lords project makes some headway.

THERE IS HOPE!
Given the huge outcry on this forum I plan to continue working on the Kroggs, But after I've completed my Night Lords.
However I plan to make one crucial change which is rather than inventing a new race "The Kroggs" I plan to use a race that already exists. While they are widely refered to in 40k fluff and fiction like the mechnaicus they don't have their own codex. They are...
MUTANTS!
Heres the benefits of changing the Kroggs from a warrior race to a mutant horde...
They exist everywhere in the 40k univerise and come in all shapes and sizes.
I can better expliain their increased stats and rules than being humans that lived on a hostile world, Big Mutants can be Nobs.
They appeared once in Eye Of Terror and their stats were the same as orks but with -1 BS & WS and they were close combat based.
Conversion potenal, I've still got the old White Dwarfs from back then with mutant conversion guides in.
I won't be made fun of for changing grots to humans and humans into orks!
So what do you think to my change of direction for this army idea?

KROGG EVALOUTION?
I had decided that the Krogg project would cause issues as I had already converted humans into grots and therefore turning orks into humans would have people making fun of my bizarre codex hopping. Anyway because of this I felt that the current Krogg models were just ‘too human’ in appearance, they didn’t look like they could support ork stats and saying they were from a world with a harsh climate and non-stop war wouldn't satisfy most players so I decided to consider a full mutant army.
However while coming up with ideas for mutant conversions I came up with a concept that would make a really good Abhuman species (a mutant population like Ogryns & Ratlings).
Basically the conversion involves placing the ork torso on a guard/marauder legs replacing the feet with the thick ork boots and green stuffing a rough trench coat over the legs. A mutant like head (suggestions?) is then placed on the top half of the ork’s neck and a scarf is sculpted over the lower part. Add some ork arms and you’ve got a mutant warrior that towers over an space marine, think of them as an army of small Ogryn.
So what do you think to the idea of the new Krogg Warrior, I thought I run it by you guys first?

That sounds great. I can't think of any heads that would be particularly right for it, more a lot of different heads would suit the army.
Some ork, some human (mutated heads even) ans some chaos heads. Dark Eldar bare heads might work too. The Chaos range might be the best bet though.
I'd say look at goblin heads too. Just shave the nose and some of the ears down.
