Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

Give the leader guy more weird bionic bits, it could also explain his size then, as if most of his body is actually cybernetic rather than human. Kind of like the Borg Queen from Star Trek: First Contact who is basically an upper torso which is connected into some sort of cybernetic body.
As for the weapons. You could also try to get your hands on some 2nd edition Ork weapons, GorkaMorka weapons or simply convert them out of existing weapons.

What about some sort of wrist mounted weapons to be like pistols? Not a replacement hand or anything but something more along the lines of a deadshot type one with more orky look to it? http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090203200337/Batman/images/thumb/a/ac/Deadshot.jpg/175px-Deadshot.jpg

Although it will be a while before I start this project, I’ve been considering how to differ the squads from each other, At first I considered different shades on the metal shoulder pads and then crude marking which lead me to this idea.
1 Army; 4 Forces
The Kroggs are a barbaric force and unlike a uniform imperial army consist of warriors from different clans. So the idea is to give each Boyz unit it’s own distinct look along with it’s own truck, battlewagon, banner (objective marker) and ‘special unit’
Of course all the converted boyz will use the chaos marauder as a base.
So here are the 4 clans of the Kroggs, note that these clans were originally at war with each other and the local ork tribes before ‘Groor’ came to their world and allied them together, plus I can’t get too deep with their background at the moment (unless you want me to?)
The Beast Nomads
History: The Nomads that dwell in the large toxic jungles of the Kroggs’ home world have little technology and
instead rely on their brute strength to survive the perils and furious beasts that exist in the toxic jungle.
But it is those same dangers that shielded them from the other clans.
Converted Appearance: The hunter look; lots of fur coats and skulls, crude weapons and war paint (similar to the Stalker from Batman).
As for representing their pistols I’ll convert some sort of small crossbow for their arm.
Special Unit: Hunters (Kommandos)
The Blood Bearers
History: A Daemonic force once plagued the lands of the Blood Bearers, haunting their very dreams and forcing them
to defend against a daily onslaught of daemon warriors. It is this that has turned them into the crazed warriors that
they are and cursed them with an unquenchable thirst for blood. They now worship the Warmaster Groor with fanatical
loyalty seeing him as a godlike figure.
Converted Appearance: Greenstuff robes like the fanatics from DOW and use beastmen arms so their welding duel swords and axes,
each equipped with throwing knifes to represent the ranged attack. Plus a few scythes and skeleton tattoos too.
Special Unit: Warp Warrior (WeirdBoy)
The Hellfire Legion
History: The Hellfire Legion is the most organised of the 4 clans and are well trained in the art of warfare, this of course
can be expected from the descendants of the old imperial planetary forces that once protected their world.
Converted Appearance: Replace the torso and head with the Chaos Renegade sprue with the chaos markings removed and arming them with autopistols.
Special Unit: Firestorm Troops (Lootas)
The Steel Fists
History: This clan would have been wiped out if it wasn’t for the discovery of a crashed Astartes cruiser. By harnessing
its technology they soon became the strongest of the clans and began raging war against both the Hellfire and Beast clans.
The ship soon became an impregnable stronghold and the marking on the side became the clan’s symbol.
Converted Appearance: Use marine arms, shoulder pads and weapons on the chaos marauder model, the armour will
look very worn down and rusty. Maybe give each model an armoured gauntlet on one arm with the marine shoulder pad at the top.
Special Unit: Krogg Juggernauts (Mega-Armoured Nobs)
So what do you think to the 4 clans idea?

Sounds good, nice idea to have the 4 clans. I'm all for you sticking supporting fluff up here, and it can help with feedback if peeps know the background to what they're seeing.
Like the idea of crossbows for the beast nomads, will they have tamed beasts ?
Any ideas for the trucks yet or is it still a bit early?
Oh, and instead of a comic how about a series of animations this time? Or maybe a multi-million pound feature film? Oh, no I've got it... a 28 part live action series - You know it'll be easy to sort out

So far they're just going to be converted trukks with a few icons and items added to link them to the clan that owes them.
Beast Nomads - Lots of trophies, reinforced ram will be a carnfiex head and sything talons attached to the front.
Blood Bearers - The Sand Screamer Trukk (see first page) with some icons painting in blood and perhaps a skeleton chained to the front plate.
Hellfire Legion - The FW closed cab trukk
Iron Fists - Something converted from a rhino or bits from a land raider.

I've made some changes to the 4 clans: I swapped a few special units round and ditched the religious nutcases in dresses for the krogg's version of fremen, I've also replaced the Steel Fist with the Corsairs because I want to use the fist symbol and meganobs for the Krogg Elite!
The Beast Nomads
History
The Nomads that dwell in the large toxic jungles of the Kroggs’ home world have little technology and instead rely on their brute strength to survive the perils and furious beasts that exist in the toxic jungle. But it is those same dangers that shielded them from the other clans.
Converted Appearance
Very barbaric using beastmen arms and marauder helmets with the horns cut off and mouth green stuffed over. Hopefully this will make them look larger compared to the other models.
Like this guy but with very little armour plating > http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/jakanddaxter/images/thumb/1/15/Marauder3.jpg/405px-Marauder3.jpg]
Special Unit: Shaman (Weirdboy)
The Death Dealers
History
Originally known as the blood bearers this clan used to pride itself on its warriors combat skills but they were too headstrong and believed they could defeat the local ork tribes in head on combat. After nearly being wiped out the clan completely changed its name and fighting style now relying on stealth to strike the enemy at their weaknesses point, but not before causing a great deal of fear and confusion.
Due to the northern territory having a highly poisonous atmosphere Death Stalkers wear long tattered cloaks and breather masks.
Converted Appearance
Add a green stuff cloak and use this heads: http://www.pig-iron-productions.com/bmz_cache/f/fa8a0b7520b8af507d012476a408ca63.image.733x550.jpg

Special Unit: Reapers (Kommandos)
The Hellfire Legion
History: The Hellfire Legion is the most organised of the 4 clans and are well trained in the art of warfare, this of course
can be expected from the descendants of the old imperial planetary forces that once protected their world.
Converted Appearance: Replace the torso and head with the Chaos Renegade sprue with the chaos markings removed and arming them with autopistols.
Special Unit: Firestorm Troops (Lootas)
The Steel Corsairs
History
Throughout the Krogg’s history of civil warfare the Steel Corsairs have always been a menace using their fast vehicles to make raids on enemy strongholds and convoys before retreating to one of their many hidden hideouts.
They were the last clan to be approached by Groor who has already earned allegiance from the other clans. The Steel Corsairs refused to serve Groor believing that they would never be caught due to their superior speed but overtime Groor found each of their hideouts and in one night crippled their operations before giving them the choice of servitude or annihilation. With no option the Steel Corsairs agreed to serve him.
Converted Appearance
I will use right space marine arms to give them all an armoured gauntlet and add a small green stuff robe to their lower body.
Like this guy but without the upper clothing > http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100614123212/jakanddaxter/images/thumb/5/58/Damas.png/200px-Damas.png

Sorry to have to say this guys but I've decided to scrap this project! Since a lot of you have shown interest in this army I've decided to announce here on Dakka Dakka rather than make you wait for updates that ain't coming.
This decision has sadly been brought on by several of the local gamers disliking my 'extreme' use of the codexes in recent projects. One of my Warseer project logs has recently been bombarded by one of them accusing me of using the guard codex for my grot rebellion for reasons of power-gaming rather than conversion.
Meanwhile I've had more friendlier players suggest that I should try a less 'unique' concept for my next army and try building something that already exists in the 40k universe rather than inventing another completely new race, which I understand local gamers are getting tired of. Plus I know if I continue with this project I'll open myself up to insults and comments about me turning orks into humans and humans into grots. Lets face it I'm getting a bit carried away here.
So for those reasons I'm scrapping the Krogg Project!
I may decide to restart the project in the future, but only when I'm confident that it won't be hated purely for my use of the ork codex.

Aaggh, that truly sucks man. I really enjoy the effort and creativity you put into your projects, and I do hope that one day we will see this ressurected. It's a little sad that your local gamers feel that way (getting carried away is part of the fun ) and that has forced your hand, but if they're the guys you regularly play against then I'd guess you'd lose motivation for a project that you knew wouldn't get used very often.
Looking forward to whatever you come up with next regardless....

I don't feel that you are getting carried away. I feel that you are creative and enjoy having your own theme to YOUR armies. Perhaps, you can find other more friendly people to play the game with. I find their response to be absolutely ridiculous, and I cannot understand what their problem is with this army. I would gladly play against this army, and would take pictures of all the cool conversions. I guess it is just me

Ooooh shiny... ...I'm looking forwards to seeing some Night Lords as they are one of my favourite Legions (right after Thousand Sons). Also, you should check out this guys Night Lords for some ideas and inspiration (ie. YOU NEED TO MAKE PRE-HERESY JETBIKES!!!!) His conversions are amazing, so that should set the bar pretty high for your Pre-Heresy ones.

It's pretty sad when people that aren't creative enough to do armies like this themselves can ruin it for you. You have amazing ideas that IMHO are well within the realm of the codex options you chose. You do amazing work and I hope maybe you can find some less petty people to play with.
