Here are those pictures I promised. Also threw together a really quick, uncleaned upperbody to showcase the different looks the heads add.

Whatcha think?

All in all, I like the heads. They go INSANELY WELL with the MK III Marine bodies. Can't wait to see what they Look like with a broken anvil on their chests.

Well, as always, keep commenting. Hopefully NOW, you'll HAVE something to talk about.

Not sure why, but I like this one. Didn't think I would. GREAT SURPRISE FOR ME THEN!

This one will be fun to paint. Gonna have to practice the glowing affect.

Right up there for my favorite head in the bunch.

I feel like the last two fit because not all of the marines would have fully functioning lungs. Re-breathers would be necessary. That and they just look like a nice contrast between the bulky, riveted armor and the sleek, yet archaic helmet style.

Gotta hand it to MaxMini, they made a SWEET collection of heads right there.

Thats a whole lot of Bitz!!
my personal favourite is the 3rd from the bottom, reminds me of a more classic knight's helm for some reason.

Lol yeah, it's old school.... *wink wink* almost like it was planned haha

It's gonna be a challenge though, cause I'm going to prob/ossibly use those as the terminator helms....? maybe. I will have to wait and see what kind of models I come up with for Termies, but I'm not gonna buy anything till these guys are significantly under way, and the GK's are finished.

Lol yeah, you have no idea how excited/pissed I was when I got home. Had been planing all day on painting some GK's, and then BOOM, such happy thoughts got derailed by such happy news. I've officially been happily pissed!

Just letting them soak in the bubbly for a bit, then to brush and let them dry. Tomorrow, maybe some cleaning. Thinking of waiting though, and just focusing on getting some GK painting done. Meh, spur of the moment stuff, I'll see what sounds good.

Glad I was able to help! Those things are SICK. Not perfect, but very good casting results.

So. terminators, eh? What style shoulder pad are you going to go with? The horizontal ones in use before the Heresy, or the post-heresy ones incorporating (supposedly) a scrap of the Emperor's armour? With your force the pre-heresy pads would be more appropriate and would be cool just to see what you do for them. Either way though, this is still a cool force you're building, especially with all the specialty pieces coming in.

You and me both haha. May not seem like it, but this whole undertaking has utterly terrified me from the first moment. I'd toyed with multiple ideas for custom chapters and this one actually started out as one of my less impressive. But It's really taken on a life of it's own though all the bit searching and brainstorming. It honestly astounds me how they look just as is. But once they get battle damage, and some actual iconography for the chapter on them, baaaaaaaaaaaaad stuff shall happen to their foes lol. Thanks for the comment!

I'm still out to pasture on that one. They will NOT be the post heresy style ones. I'm leaning towards the ones posted earlier... the ones above the ones i said i didn't like. The blue round(er) ones. I think that will work best, because I can use some plasticard to cut out various cog/gear outlines, and put them on the back so they look like the edge nearest the body is raised that way. But I'm still open to ideas. That's one post that did not get as much debate as I would have like to have had. I honestly don't like the 'TRUE' pre- heresy/ heresy style pads, the ones with the leather looking straps coming off of them. But I'd be open to any ideas if somone knows how I could make the straps look less awkward.

Thanks, I agree that the force is coming together nicely.

Haonn wrote:Great kit bashing underway here, loving what youve done so far. I cant wait for the jump pack revelation.

OOOOH ME TOO!!!! That's going to be super sweet if it turns out the right way. Lol, and as an additional hint, the fast attack options with the packs will use the Nurgle Champion head, just FYI if anyone wanted to know what those were for.... /= )

Originally my chapter had the full anvil, but it's a post thing that happened following the events that let them slumber till now.

Lol I do see what you mean a bit. And I'd love to see what you're chapter's shaping up to be! Also, I'd be happy to lend any advice if you'd care for some.

And YES, those heads are so versatile. I don't know why more people don't use them. I can seem them in just about ANY army if they were modded right. GET SOME!!!

Well so far I am just in the ordering stage, they are still nameless but I do know they are going to be based around the Deathwing Army List primarily and will be Lion themed so I can use...

I like all of those. Scibor is AMAZING when it comes to quality product. I suggest starting a blog post on dakka right now, or as soon as possible, and post all your ideas, inspirational images if any, and products you're thinking of using. It's great to

A) have all that stuff in one place, and B) Get those ideas out there. I'm HUGE on accountability haha, because I have a tendency to start something, get it underway, then get sidetracked. EXAMPLE - My GK's! I've almost worked out a good outline for my production on both armies, so I'm not too worried at this point. But you get the point.

Just a suggestion. Also, I'm interested to hear what else you have planned for them. And the backstory and chapter name once you come up with one.

If I could make a suggestion however, since they're Marines and Lion themed, my vote is for "The Emperor's Pride" - lol ties into the lion theme. Just a suggestion, I love coming up with chapter names, character names, just love it!

Thanks! Hope to get some of the bits cleaned tonight, but I'm holding off assembly until I have everything together. I want to take stock first, and then figure out what's going on who, where, etc.

Also, I'm needing to locate some CSM bits or really even CM fantasy bits. Just needing things that are chain, sharp, and old looking.

Pole for the Audience - I've been thinking, and I've realized that I have two options for my Basic Troops.

I can either make them all carry bolters across the chest, in various patterns and armor combinations.

OR I can purchase some CSM arms bits w/ chainswords. This would give them a more warband feel.

In my mind, the first would be best, becuase it makes them look like a wall of unstoppable 'Mongers' coming to rip you a new one. The commanders/sergreants/ special units woudl have more dynamic poses, but what do you think?

Should I break my vow and invest in some alternate arms, or just make them a battleworn wall of epicness?

Personally, I like option one, but have some advancing and aiming their Boltguns, either firing from the hip or using iron sights. I also think that, instead of using the paint schemes you showed via the BnC painter, you should go for a pure-ish ceramite look, with a chapter trim. Think a mix between IA and GK.
Plus, you should really start working on an index astartes on BnC, this shows serious promise. Shoot me a link.

But hey I will be the first person to feel stupid when GW's jackbooted stormtroopers kick my door down and force me to eat all my resin casts at gunpoint -BLACKHAND, on the subject of casting

You JUST made me realize how EASY it would be to take the standard arms, add a lil green stuff, and BAM, now we've got marine looking down barrels. Yeah, my only concern is that I've not done a lot of physically altering resin miniatures, so this will be an interesting experiment. Probably won't give it a try yet though I'm fairly sure I've got the logistics down. Just a bit nerve wracking, as I do NOT want to screw it up and lose an arm.

But at least it will save me from having to buy more bits haha.

Lol yeah, those are the two Chaos chapters I like most. I just can't decide on a dex. Sure, GK's are wonderful, and I also have SW which I love, but I'm kinda worried about running so many marine armies. Chaos is just this sultry vixen that's always catching my eye lol, specifically nurgle. But my friend who runs chaos says that since the chapters were condencd down to one dex, they are all basically the same. And unfortunatly, no real help via the blog posts. Any suggestions on a fun dex? Or hell, maybe even the standard vanilla marine dex, but I've NEVER look it over in depth, only at the pics haha.

Thanks! But BELIEVE ME, it's not easy for me at all. I'm great at writing, talking, and thinking, but when it boils down to the painting...... that's my Achilles heel. I can get on a roll, but I push too hard and get put off of it. Still working on getting that rhythm down.

Tek wrote:Dude you're plans are simply of EPIC proportions. I will be watching this closely, and this could potentially be the single best marine blog on this forum.

Thank you for your lavish praise, though I respectfully disagree. There's TONS of great blogs on the site, and I've been watching them for inspiration and for guidance since before I even thought about making a custom chapter.
But I sincerely appreciate the kind words. From EVERYONE on here, even if the comments are negative comments, just knowing that other 40k'rs out there find my ideas interesting enough to comment really means a lot. That's why I try to make a point of replying to everyone who comments on the blog. Also why I beg you for so many ideas and input's haha.

WELL, the update is as such. Still no more packages...... |=(

BUT, I did get one marine cleaned up last night. So 1 down, bundles to go I suppose. Going to keep my word, and after this week, the GK's will get some much needed love for a bit, as I try out my new production schedule/technique/madness to try to keep both armies moving along at a pace, even if it's a slow one haha.
