Makes sense. There were too many things that didn't make sense in this story.

Activision is evil?

Guys, you do realize that Kotaku is journalism, not news. The difference between the two is very fine, but yes. How one tweet gets turned into "THQ is selling its soul" I may never know.

What is the difference, in a modern setting between a bunch of people giving their opinions on world views [or the opinions of their higher ups] and people giving their opinion on world views?

Oh wait.

I picked up the tabletop game because of the DoW games and the Ghaunts Ghosts novels

Actually wrong on that count. They are a website similar to Celebrity fix or other trash websites, publishing sensationalist nonsense and pushing forward stupid opinions.
A real journalistic gaming website would be Rock Paper Shotgun. Kotaku is just Gawker rubbish, publishing controversial headlines to get views.

DoW introduced me to the franchise, books fostered my interest, and eventually jumped in two years ago. So... I guess by extention DoW got me into it as well.

He called them a journalistic website, they are not. They are a worthless news site, that's only popular because of sensationalist rubbish.

It's disappointing, because I like Homefront. I'm playing the multiplayer on ONLIVE and it's pretty good! It's not CALL OF DUTY but it's very good!

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

THQ admits that they have "not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO". This is considerably less than "We are still willing to do this" but more than "We cancelled the MMO". So the thread has its merit.

Losing 2 million chinese subscriptions and being lower on the total account end while still above 10mil = not circling the drain.

At the very least, I'll report the thread to have a mod (or the OP, if (s)he see's it first) to add a ? to the title.

DarkHound wrote:On the off chance you were serious: hi RatBot.

I was totes serious. I think rather a lot of people got into the tabletop game from playing the video games first. Just my anecdotal evidence though.

On topic, the loss (if it happens) of this game is crushing to me. I was really excited about it despite having sworn off muhmorpergers right after my extended stay in Norrath.

THQ was at a low of $2 when every other company was low too in August.
Space Marine came out did good, thier quarterly came out saying they lost money compare to last year(everyone did)
But they made 500 million more than they were expecting.
Stocck went up to $2.30
They hit a tripped over a hurdle with Udraw for the Xbox/PS3
It was a major dud, everyone freaked stock is at 60 cents.
This clown wrote the article, guessing they will be took over.
Me however would wait until the Christmas Quarterlies come out in Feb.
I think St.Row and WWE did good enough to surprise everyone.
But THQ's statement makes sense regarding this as they are now only going to make the games they do well.

I started playing 40k because of dawn of war.

Actually, I remember when I started reading this forum there was much talk about DoW and how it got people into it.

For what it's worth I have, the group I played with in Beijing all got into it thanks to Dawn of War.

Dawn of War 1 rekindled 40k for me.
I was into it back in RT days but back then it was just this wierd UK game with really cool pics in the rulebook.
Dawn of War got me to start reading the novels again, now I am bitching because I have 10 Leman Russes and no accessory sprues.

Ha ha, all right, I completely concede the point. To be fair, I said I had never met anyone who started cuz of DoW, never said no one did.

Now, can anyone refute my refutation of the statement that people will play the tabletop game less if the MMO is available, based on people voluntarily giving up the tabletop game for DoW? (or don't, I really don't care. )
