Mostly because this time they seemed to have a clear idea of what story they wanted to tell, and how they wanted to move the Thor movies forward without relying on them being part of the greater Marvel movieverse, but still put some small bits in to tie it in.
Captain Americas brief cameo had me laughing madly.
Watched Thor2. Didn't like it. Natalie Portman + sci-fi spaceships duking it out bring back bad flashbacks of SW Ep 1-3 for me. Also, too much emphasis on Jane and Thors very very boring relationship

Gonna see this this weekend. Super pumped about it. Glad to hear it's not another Iron Man 2 though. That would have made me worried for Capt. 2 too.
I hold her responsible for the crap performance in the 3rd. She was fine in the first two, but the third she went from a strong individual, not afraid to get her hands dirty to being a whiny wife. It's like married life completely changed her character in every way. I understand it can change people a bit...but NOT that much. So yes, she screwed up in the third. That said, I usually like her as an actress. One of my friends said the movie was awesome and he loved it more than Avengers. I'm excited to go see it.

One might think that the script had to do with the changes in the character as well. Or as Harrison Ford told George Lucas "you can type this gak, George, but you sure can't say it".
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.
Pretty sure script and directing did that. She's to good for that to have been her fault. I mean, Lucas made Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee, and Ewan McGregor boring. What chance did the not yet academy award winning Portman have?

She seriously did a better job in 'Where the Heart is" than in the prequels, and there she was playing a hillbilly that has a baby in a Wal-mart.

Natalie Portman in Thor = Cute, funny and good love interest - whats not to like..........
Her assistant was very good as well. In fact I can't think of anything in the film I didn't like.
Marvel films are really awesome Superhero films these days

I do not believe it is possible to do an Infinity Gauntlet film, by definition. The licensing simply makes it impossible at this point in time, and I don't see Sony or Fox coming to the table on that.

Disclaimer: I haven't seen Thor 2 yet, this is just conjecture.
I think the Collector has been mentioned as featuring in Guardians of the Galaxy, as is Thanos (who was also at the end of Avengers) so it's something they could be building up to. I agree that Fox and Sony aren't likely to give up their licences or cooperate with Disney/Marvel, but they could probably change the plot enough that that would be less of an issue.
Sure, a whole Marvel universe crossover would be the most awesome film series ever, but they could certainly get away with restricting it to just The Avengers and Guardians, as well as possibly bringing in some other characters (ie. from the planned Heroes For Hire and Defenders TV series). That would be enough to have the 'feel' of a crossover.

Holy gak, that rap is the single greatest thing I've ever seen.
Did you miss the Gauntlet in Odin's Vault in Thor 1?

That is completely awesome. Metalworking is the coolest thing ever, especially when that level of artistry is added.

I am glad the story important after credits sequence is not at the end. But the funny scene is at the end.
Also. IMO it is better then Thor. Just because thor lacked action for most of the film, this films action is insane and over the top, just how it should be.
Regarding Portman, I would have been happier with Kat Dennings getting more screen time. But I didn't find much wrong with Portman in this movie compared to the first, mostly she wasn't given much to work with other than 'lovestruck geeky but hot scientist in Asgard'.
I really enjoyed it as well. It was a good call focusing on the trickster elements of his character. That had been lacking in his other appearances.
