Managed to finish the first four, but will switch some out, once I've painted some normal sisters. Unfortunately my adventures in superglueing have given some of the ladies big hands without details Luckily with the other 6 minis I did it better and all weapons attached neatly and without fuzz.

I am still trying to decide between these guys:

and these guys:

I'll get them all cleaned and based, then settle on whichever set is more fun to work on.

Heh - as much as I like the olde Chaos warriors, Dark Judges do feel even a bit more ... METAL?

The only downside is that the Dark Judges aren't as well sculpted-- they're almost 2.5D in their flatness, which sort of counters the METAL factor. We'll see how I feel after I prep them.

Assembled the beast. Turns out it’s quite a bit chunkier than my other russ equivalents. Decided to arm it with all plasma and not bother with any modularity as it is unlikely to ever reach a battlefield

The turret chains look really nice but it’s only as I put the turret on that I realise that they interfere with the drop tanks :( oh well.

This month, I'll be painting the Disciples of the Red Redemption (and a Chaos Agent who looks like he would fit in). According to their background:
The cult of the Red Redemption had become established throughout the Old World. In the secret temples of the cult, initiates were introduced to the vile and bloody ways of the mighty God Khorne. The skin was ritually flayed from the face and torso of each initiate. Glowing hot iron face masks and cuirasses formed a new and tougher skin. At last they were permitted to wear the black robes of Khorne.

I've been swamped with Shasvastii from the Defiance KS so how's about some metal bug aliens?

Here's my entry:

How is she heavy metal? Well, she's a pewter model and she looks like she could have come off the cover of an 80's power metal album.

(also, I needed to start working on this model for a project )

May be a bit too ambitious for me in a month - especially as I want to make the arms swappable with the new one, but I think this classifies as Heavy Metal - the previous incarnation Ork Deff Dread:

Picture includes Killa Kan and new Deff Dread sprues - although I've looted enough Deff Dread bits I have no complete bodies left from two kits...

I may need to fall back on a Bombshell Babe - we'll see how we go...

A plate armored knight in pewter probably qualifies here. Trying to get this shrew from badgers and burrows done:
(Start of month

(With wet paint because I remembered halfway through the basecoat I needed a proof pic...)

I love the old metal Wraithlords. The skinny limbs make them so easy to pose.

Some WIP photos of a Chaos Warrior.
Spoiler:

I'm pretty happy with the armor plates, but the chainmail is proving difficult to do in NMM. The gold accessories turned out a lot greener than I'd planned, and I'm at a complete loss as to how to approach the hilt and guard on the sword. Ideas?

Yep, he's getting a scatterlaser on the shoulder. I hadn't attached it in the photo as I was just trying to get the pose sorted. the head was only blu-tacked on as well.

Yeah, I had him lying around and spotted the artwork in the 2nd edition codex, and thought that it had to be done. Can't wait to see your version!

WIP:

Done with the sloppy basecoats, washes and drybrush stages. Next up is the clean up pass and glaze. Plus the arms and the sarge’s head, which I need to get started on.

Lot of entries here making me regret not pulling something out from the Deep Pile of Shame. But I’ve got a goal to get a primaris demi-company done by the end of the year, so needed to use this month to leverage another unit for that across my workbench.
