What it says in the title, really. What are some games, or types of games that you would like to see made? Or what are some ideas that exist in games, that you feel have never been done quite right?
For my own example, the 4x thread got me thinking about how a lot of 4x games don't really do the exploration part in a way that I find satisfying. Especially with space based games. I want to see a game that has a sense of excitement to the exploration... Like, where you could find a tremendous variety of planets and moons and stars, which could make each system a unique experience. Too often the space 4x games I've played treat planets as a statistic, and there's about as much thrill to discovering a new system as there is to doing laundry. Planets do have to have a value, I know, to make the other parts of the game work, but I think they could be more complex, and have more personality, for lack of a better word.
It's not a complete idea, still working it out in my head. But I thought it might be fun for people to talk about the games they'd like to see, in general.

A WHFB RPG. Like, I want to roll a dark elf, and rise to become a mighty dreadlord!
And I mean a RPG with a proper political system in regards to the setting. And skyrim-esque mechanics. For simplicity's sake.

I'd like a Telltale (I hope I'm spelling that right) game about 40k. Have one character be a Guardsman, another be an Imperial official, another an Eldar etc.

Have a look at Chaos Gate. It is pretty old, buggy (if you let the Cultists fire at you, the game crashes) and limited, but it is still the most table topish 40k game. And thus the best in my opinion.
On topic, a Dark Heresy game would be good. Or a Game of Thrones RPG that pretty much avoids the main characters.

I want to have a 40k total war game. I think that has been talked about before.
An idea I was just thinking about before I saw this thread. I want to see a co-op game where one player plays a dog.. You know some asymmetrical co-op.
I want to see an open world detective game where you run down leads proactively without having a script you need to follow.
I want to see a mmo that is trying to be an immersive world rather then a mmo. Like a mmo where the thief class is a thief class not a DPS class.

I'd love a squad based shooter/ARPG centered around Deathwatch or an Inquisitor retinue, perhaps something similar to XCOM in the 40k universe.
Or, Republic Commando (the only game other than Battlefront and X-Wing Alliance that's worth playing) -esque shooter where you command a fire team of Stormtroopers or Deathwatch Kill team.

Hmmm, maybe an 'Elite' type game set in the 40k universe, with FPS elements as you search Space Hulks for trade-able commodities. That would be pretty cool. On a personal note I'd really like to see a video game based around 'Man O War'. Not sure how that would go, but if I had the money I'd commission it purely for selfish reasons!

Top of the list is a LotR RPG. Hell, port the engines and mechanics from Skyrim into a Middle Earth setting and I'll buy it in a heartbeat. Obviously you'd need to tone down the magic element, but the rest would work just fine.
A Black Flag without the Assassain/Templar stuff that I don't bother with would be cool.
A modernised Knights of the Old Republic. Again, you could even keep the same mechanics, just give me better graphics.

Yeah, I do own and love that game (right up until the final fight where you poke Sauron in the eye with a sword) but I'd like something a little more open-world, build-your-own-character type thing. Third Age is thoroughly reccomended to anyone who hasn't played it.
Franko wrote:Battlefront 3. I know it will be here at the end of 2015 but I want it now, damn it!
Also, this. So long as it keeps all the good stuff from BF2 it should be just about the best thing ever. My wishlist for it is:
- Ground to space combat, with destroyable Capital Ships ect.
- Hero ships (Slave 1, the Falcon ect)
- Bigger maps (almost guarunteed)
- Clone Wars (TV show) themed maps, characters and such.

A fantasy RPG that lets you manage a company of mercenaries, with real time combat, the ability to customize units weapons/skills/leaders and procedurally generated content. Build an army and complete contracts for various kingdoms, states, and groups or make your own empire
Basically a good Black Company video game

I'd love to see something that's a sort cross between say Total War, HoMM, Endless Legend with a tiny dash of Crusader Kings II type choices.
A relatively slow-paced 4x game, with a sort of multiple stages of granularity.
At the broadest level, you'd be playing 6 months per turn and be making broad decisions on a national scale. When a war starts, at the birth of new heir or around the founding of a city the game would zoom in. The national level game would largely hold still, while you go in an resolves these in detail on a month-to-month type scale. Once in a while there might be a key event or pivotal moment, that pulls you into a side game that gets resolved on an even closer scale (weeks/days).
Time would be split with something like 50% of focus on the large scale, 30% on moderate, 20% on deep in. The large-scale systems would be the most robust & complex, with the closer views having more simple mechanics & decision sets, at least outside of combat events.
As time passes leaders age, new ones come to power. This is mostly to give a real sense of time passing, and allow you to groom the next leader character as a way to tweak your play style. The political focus would be small if present at all and there wouldn't be some kind of "no heir" loss condition.
It'd have both a traditional randomly generated play and more linear single-player campaign. It'd take place on a set map with set starting conditions and use a set of mission goals like in Endless Legend to put forward a narrative. There would still be a fair amount of room tweak successive characters but narratively they'd be drawn from a pool of possible births if you've ever played the terrible PSIII: Generations of Doom, it had a similar concept (even gak games have OK ideas in them sometime).
The setting would be some variant of non-Tolkienesque fantasy, with magic and fantastic creatures but no dwarves/elves/elves/elves/elves/orcs/ etc...

Warhammer fantasy Total war game. With proper trading, skirmishes and religion implemented properly, plus the huge style sieges and battles and the heroes of course.
So essentially being able to control people like Nagash, Valden and so forth, but with good AI on them that'd deviate if you chose a suicidal plan or anything like that.
UFO enemy Unknown original, but with upgraded graphics, massive gameplay (So you could research massively above the alien weapons and so on). and evolving alien tactics (So they don't just rush)

This is a hard one. Most of my favorite games at the moment are weird mixes of genres that you wouldn't even think possible until you played them (Arcen Games is a publisher that does this very well).
I'll second the vote for a Necromunda style Xcom like game. Also a BFG 4x style space game would be nice.
My third game on the list is already made, but not very good. I would like to see a better version of DUST 514, it's a FPS where all your equipment costs (in-game) money, and you require RPG style skills to use it, as well as skills that do things like increase health and reduce reload time. You can't just equip the best gear and run forward all the time or else you will go broke. You need to decide how much winning the match is worth to you and equip yourself accordingly.

If Nintendo wasn't so behind on how the internet works I imagine they'd have noticed ages ago people would happily pay a monthly sub for such a game. I know I would.
