Raptor Jesus?

Here's just hoping the Beast Races have some unique animations. That was one of the best flavor bits of Morrowind, that Khajiit and Argonians clawed at enemies for H2H instead of punching, along with their unique walks. Maybe not quite so... lizardy? But more slinky, less upright would be cool. Also maybe a little restriction in what they can wear- like the inability to wear full-face helmets and boots in Morrowind. That was neat.

One thing I hope they change is how the guards can tell when you've been stealing if you talk to them, but not if you just stand next to them; it's as if you just break down and confess whenever you talk to them. Hell, i've got the Grey Fox's mask at my house, I could steal anything I like and constantly do, but here I am babbling like an idiot and showing him where I hid everything on my person.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

And also maybe not let the guards have a magical key to every single door regardless of whether or not it needs a key...

I have to use up my vacation at work by the end of the year, so I'm off from the 11/11 until 11/21. I'm probably gonna make a blog following my travels and a general review of the game, more details to come as time gets closer if anyone is interested.

They look pretty good, Orc has certainly jumped into the 'possible' list of starting characters.

Regarding the omnipresent guards, I saw a interview where one of the folks at Betheseda said that it was not going to be like that in Skyrim. I can't remember if he said it was totally gone, I have a feeling he said they'd need to witness the crimes.
However there was something about, you would be harder to track in other cities. So if you went on a rampage in city A, city B might not know about your previous deeds, even if arrested for something in city B. However if arrested in City A, you'd be a known and wanted criminal.
It would allow you to be a blagart in one area, and a saint in another.

Need to try and dig that up, but it was something that made me very happy, as when I play my rogue characters, I do find it quite frustrating how the AI operates in Oblivion.

It probably has something to do with the new Radiant AI storytelling thing they've got going on. So though the Guard wouldn't automatically know you've, say, killed someone, if that person's brother sees it, they might go running to the Guards to report you.

Indeed, it'd take it a step further if we take Anvildude's scenario of another NPC witnessing a murder you commit and telling the guards; otherwise it'd just be annoying.

"This guy said he witnessed you killing someone, and we're going to 100% believe him and STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL!"

Though in this case, since the world doesn't freeze when you talk to people, a guard could literally walk up to you being all "We have a few questions- could you follow me, please?"

Then you sprint away as fast as you can.

"STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!"

I hope they finally made character movement realistic. Having the PC move the same exact speed when going forward, backward, and sideways and always instantly accelerating to full speed really ruined the gameplay for me.

Can't find the interview, it might be in one of my games mags littered around the house, but I found a note of it..

Each city in the world has an unique economy, which the player can sabotage, should they so desire. Cities are still patrolled by guards, but they're no longer the omniscient killing machines they were in Oblivion. Bounties the player can incur are also no longer valid throughout the land: for instance, if you kill someone in Hold A, the guards in Hold B will not arrest you for it.

And there's definitely going to be different movement physics, at least for going backwards. They specifically said they fixed that issue.

Something interesting I have found from PAX interviews:

The entire pickpocketing skill tree list (Seriously):

Light Fingers (0/5)
Pickpocketing bonus of 20% – Item weight and value reduce pickpocketing odds…
Night Thief
Pickpocketing sleeping people almost always works…
Poisoned
Place poisons in other people’s pockets silently to harm or kill…
Cutpurse
Pickpocketing gold is 50% easier…
Extra Pockets
Carrying capacity is increased by 100…
Keymaster
Pickpocketing keys always works…
Misdirections
You can pickpocket equipped weapons…
Perfect Touch
You can pickpocket equipped items…

Meh...since the perks only apply to a single area of expertise (and you only get to choose one per level), it shouldn't be that hard to pull off. It's not like you have to allocate skill points or anything (those raise naturally in traditional Elder Scrolls fashion), and the perks don't look quite as powerful as they were in Fallout (aside from the gakky skill point perks). Since there are so many skills, and each one will have it's own perk tree, you'll still have to choose wisely, even fifty or so levels in. Also, they look to be a bit more restricted (you have to get one perk before you have access to another in the tree, though this seems to branch a bit), which should help a bit with balancing the game.

Part of the fun of the Elder Scrolls, however, is the fact that it's not balanced, and you become incredibly powerful over a very long period of time.
