Holy crap, what a game. Who would have imagined our defense would have stopped a last minute TD and Tom would have failed to throw a single TD?

Chowder: When I was a teenager I didn't give a damn about professional sports either, aside from a few games of football I enjoyed PURELY in relation to the fact that I owned and played Blood Bowl.

Bad day for the Harbaughs. Williams of the 49ers and Cundiff of the Ravens need to be on suicide watch and/or protective custody.

I only pay attention to football because my wife does. As a
teenager I only followed the Bulls really because of the
Michael Jordan era.
I just can't see myself devoting 3 hours to a single game,
much less dozens of hours to an entire season.
It could be that I'm in Chicago, though. Go Bears?

How can you not watch the pure awesome that is Devon Hester?
Also, 2005 the bears won the NFC Championship game (13-3) and D. Hester made Super Bowl History by being the first ever to run back an opening Kickoff for a touchdown.
and last year they were the best team in the NFC North.
Lots of excitement to be had.

I'm quite sad that I went 0 and 2, but I further believe that it is because the Cleveland Browns have already won the Super Bowl, just like they did last year... and the year before that, and so on and so forth for eternity...

I didn't watch the Bears Superbowl game. I think I worked in
my office and checked in on my wife from time to time. Seriously,
the only reason I watched pro basketball was because I played
basketball with my friends. I'd watch football on and off, but I
never really followed it. There's a difference between watching
a game and following a season.
Heck, I think I follow more football now because my wife talks
about it, so I'm naturally interested in listening to her talk.
As for the games today (because I really didn't want to troll the
thread), I got to see the 49ers lose it in special teams. This
was the first 49ers game my wife had seen all season (we don't
have cable television) and while she was happy for them to make
it to the championships, she didn't really see how they made it this
far. That game was a grinder.

I honestly hope we have a repeat of the last time Brady and Eli met in the Superbowl... I want history to record that when the "great and perfect, and most beautifulest quarterback in the histories of the Football games" Tom Brady met with the "bumbling idiot brother to the Great Peyton Manning" of Eli and the Giants in the Biggest Game of the year, twice he got beat.

The 49ers Defense has been rock-solid all season. Their Offense has been up and down, but that happens with a young QB.
I also don't blame the Baltimor kicker for that miss. The coach hesitated before sending them on, they were rushed, and there was 1 second on the play clock when he kicked. Baltimore was sitting on a time out. There was no reason not to use it with 15 seconds on the play clock. Call the time out, give your kicker a chance to get ready, then snap the ball.
However, I wasn't rooting for either team. Brady and Eli are good QBs, so I'm looking forward to this Superbowl rematch from a few years ago. The last one was an exciting game.
Hmmm....
Gotta like the Giants in this one. Still.... it's gonna be a 7 point game either way.

Yeah, the niners defense had been rock solid, and they also had one of the best, if not the best, special teams in the league in terms of field position. Their good field position and ability to give bad field position to the opposing team as well as forcing loads of turnovers had been their bread and butter. They got beat on field position and turnovers against the Giants, therefore they lost. Sad story, but true.

Yea but they should have kicked that 4th & 6 instead of going for it. If either of the kicks had been good they would have gotten them to overtime and who knows what could of happened?

Exactly what I was going to say! I'm a huge Patriots fan and I really feel like we didn't deserve to win that game, our defense and luck, at times, really saved our ass. You could tell in Brady's post game speech that he was disappointed in his own performance and acknowledges that he needs to up his game. Hopefully he brings it come the Superbowl and we can get it done. I also feel really bad Cundiff, I saw pictures afterwards of people burning their jerseys with his name on them and I really don't agree with that, the poor guy had no time to prepare, they should have called the time out. I hope he doesn't let it affect him too much and that the Ravens give us another run for our money next year.

Yeah, that is a lot of weight on your shoulders to be sure...
I heard an interview on local sports radio today in which the Pats coach said they thought about calling a timeout to ice him, but they realized that his own team was rushing the play so they held off...
and brady did not have his best game, and still won, that says something about the rest of the team, unlike the Colts.
