Haha, I know. Saints put up a good fight on Saturday. The last few minutes were tense.
The reason why I was pissed about LSU was that it was almost as if they didn't even show up to play against Alabama. Even worse, Nick Saban.

It's certainly a reason to be upset. I 100% agree. Les should have shaken things up to begin the 4th quarter. If after 3 quarters your QB has done nothing, put someone else in. Yes, you sometimes have to try SOMETHING. It was frustrating.
Still, LSU had a great run and I'm proud of those boys.

I don't think there was anything wrong with the Packer playcalls - the area that the offensive coordinator would affect.
Dropped balls, funbles and an average performance out of Rogers doomed the Packers. However kudoes to the Giants for a great defensive game plan and execution. I don't think the Packers ever really broke one play of more than 20 yards the whole game. That is a real accomplishment.

Actually, the Packers' head coach apparently called the shots normally, so that really didn't change.
But from the highlights I saw, definitely poor play on the Packers' part killed any real chance at winning.

I do agree with "DAaddict wrote: I don't think there was anything wrong with the Packer playcalls"
The plays called in were not the problem. It was the drops and the turnovers.

Good performance by the Giants but the Packers were so damned shaky. How much of that do you think was down to them having a week off and losing that half a yard? There is something to be said I think for finding form when the Giants have, just before the playoffs.

Well here's the readout of the Packers/Giants game from a Packer perspective, we have a lot of wide receivers up for trade.
The Giant's defense did absolutely nothing against our wide receivers, they didn't bounce passes and they didn't intercept until the very end. The ball got to the receivers but they just decided not to catch the balls, even on easy passes. Like I said, Donald Driver was the only receiver who showed that he was still worth his mettle and willing to play for the sake of winning the game. The majority of the wide receivers seemed to be acting like Randy Moss and some of them had been complaining about this.
So in the end the Giant's defense did nothing against the Packers, it was the wide receivers.
As far as Rodgers goes, he had the most rushing yards for the Packers that game. If you let the other team's QB get 60+ rushing yards then your defense isn't that good. I see the 49ers, who shouldn't be suffering from a case of prima donna wide receivers, beating the Giants.

If you think that's the end of pass coverage, then you don't know the game.
halonachos wrote:

They had between 4 and 6 drops that game, and averaged between 2 and 3 (All depends on who you talk to.) per game in the regular season. So it was a bad game, but having watched it blaming it all on the receivers is basically just the relocation of Favre worship.
halonachos wrote:

See, this is just lame. Its not even a matter of attempting to claim a Pyrrhic victory, you're basically just going " Lol, the Giants really suck even though we lost."
Though, how you ignored Rodgers being the leading rusher for the Packers (With 66 yards on 7 carries.) is rather amusing.

And behold how Dogma, yet again, displays his inability to read a full post. dogma wrote:Though, how you ignored Rodgers being the leading rusher for the Packers (With 66 yards on 7 carries.) is rather amusing. halonachos wrote: As far as Rodgers goes, he had the most rushing yards for the Packers that game. If you let the other team's QB get 60+ rushing yards then your defense isn't that good. I know that pass coverage just end there, but the fact is that the only reason why the passes weren't caught was because the receivers didn't catch them. These receivers were mostly in the open and still didn't catch the ball, so no, the Giants didn't do anything to pressure Rodgers or to stop the passes. I'm not claiming this as a Pyrrhic victory nor attempting to because it really was on the receiver's end. The ball got to them on easy passes and they just dropped them. I also don't think you can claim a Pyrrhic victory in football that just seems silly. No its not the relocation of Favre worship, its the simple fact that on easy passes they couldn't catch the thing. Now if Rodgers had been throwing crappy passes I would understand, but they were in the receiver's hands and I again point to Driver catching not just one, but two difficult passes. As an aside, now I'm rooting for Patriots and 49ers this week. My dad's team is the Patriots, but we have a good family friend who is a 49ers fan and hosted a Super Bowl party last year. When it comes down to the end I hope the 49ers win because then they'll tie the Steelers in Super Bowls.

Green Bay was off all game:
3 fumbles lost - 2 from receivers.
4 sacks for neg 23 yards - one fumble from Rodgers.
If you look at the drive logs:
Green Bay went 3 & out only twice.
Once on downs.
The 3 fumbles.
One Int.
Rodgers numbers were off his norm for the year.
56.5% completion vs his year end average 68.3%
But over his last 4 weeks he was 59.3% which would have been worse if not for the Chicago game (72.4%).
I would have to watch the game films to see who did what on the receiving end, but it doesn't look good.
3 receptions per receiver, 9 receivers, Average 5+ targets per receiver (46 attempts/9 receivers) that's 2 drops/failure to catch per receiver.... or 18 passes that could have been caught.

I think that in the end the Packers were just too damn cocky. Even James Jones told his family to skip the divisional game and come to the NFC Championship when it's played at Lambeau. Give me a break. The good news is he lives in San Jose so they only have a short drive to San Fran to make the game.
As for the Saints... tough loss, 49ers reamed them in turnovers. Weird seeing a QB throw for 462 yards and still lose the game. In the words of D. Brees: "WHO DAT?"
I'm rooting for a Super Harbowl game personally, being a devout fan of the niners and having a devout repugnance for Tom Brady and his sniveling.
