Hey guys, just a question to those of you in the States.
About this new kick off rule, where they have moved the kick-off spot forward 10 yards. How has that gone down?
To me, it looks like it has removed an element of unpredictability from the game, as almost every time the kicker clears the endzone. So there have been almost no returns for TDs!
I'm guessing it must have made working in special teams a much less interesting role.
Do you think it's likely to stay, and what has been the overall impression of it when discussed in the press?
The change was only 5 yards, not 10. From the 30 to the 35. However, you are right in saying that most kickers are now consistently putting the ball in the endzone.
It will probably stay. I don't have strong feelings either way. The returns seemed to have gone down (I don't have any statistical data, though). I've also seen some ill-advised returns from 8 or 9 yards deep when the cover team is already closing in. It certainly seems that a lot more people are getting tackled on the 15 yard line or less. Just take it on the 20, man.
Woke up in time to see the last 5 minutes. Awesome end of game.

Well it was ugly, but I watched it all to the end anyways. Just had no answer for anything, offense of defence. Sadly I suspected as much, I said to Aura before the game, I'd just be happy if we could stay close.
Regardless nice we made the play offs this year, with how our defence has been playing in general I'm still trying to figure it out.
Just neeed Tebow to keep on practising with that arm, with his ability to run, if he could get the ball off a bit quicker I do think he could be awesome.
I'm also hoping Patriots go on and win it, always had a soft spot for Bill Belichick.
Oh and also caught the Saints/49ers game. Loved it, great game, and not the result I was expecting.

I was rather disappointed at the example of the NFL coddling the Patriots at the end of the game, when it failed to award unsportsmanlike conduct penalties to the Patriots linemen who entered the fight.

are you going to keep talking about it, or do something already?

Its a shame when you lose because of your own mistakes. Oh well that means there's more to look forward to next year and I would also like to point out that Driver is still the best receiver we have.
Although I would beg to reckon that the death of Philbin's son played some sort of role, but this sums up my thoughts on the game.

Like always it's not who you play it's when you play them. The Giants played a good game against a Packers team that was clearly out of sync. I have to say that i'm loving how the Giants are playing right now.
Go Big Blue!
More importantly thoughts and wishes to the Philbin family during this time.

Fixed that for you with the orange
A lot of good that Home game did the Packers
And my Picks for next week are:
Patriots over the Ravens Giants Over the 49ers

I figure it'll be Ravens vs. Niners. Somehow would be fitting for the two worst QBs left to end up in the SB in the "year of the QB." Plus that way we can watch not one but two of the Harbaugh boys smug it up on the sidelines.
As much as I like the idea of the Ravens in the SB...
Patriots over Ravens ..... 35 - 21 IF Baltimore gets lucky.
And I like the way Frisco's defense handled Brees so...
Niners over Giants ..... No score prediction but it will be close.

Personally, I hate both AFC teams, so this year (and I cringe to say at least one of these teams), I will be hoping that the Giants or the 9ers win. I'd prefer the Giants winning the Superbowl, cuz then all the Peyton lovers could no longer say that theirs was the best Manning in the QB position

You do realize that the offensive coordinator's son died the week of the game right? They were out of sync and with good reason, besides the game could have been worse; the bears could've been in the playoffs, luckily enough for me the Bears didn't make it to the wild cards.

Patriots over Ravens, 49ers over Giants. The Giants didn't do anything spectacular against the Packers and truth be told the only reason that the Packers did not win was because the receivers weren't catching. Except for Driver because Driver is amazing. We should have rushed more to be honest, Rodgers had 66 rushing yards and I think that if we had just let him run the ball we would've scored more.

The Packers certainly had the refs help! Still wasn't enough.
