Zack Snyder released the first image of Aquaman via Twitter, and, well. We wouldn't mess with him.
Here is a more saturated look at the image so you can see more detail and colour:
I like how they've made his skin look leathery, like you would see on a whale or a dolphin as well as the grey blotches he has all around his body. That and the completely black eyes (which means he could also be half Betazoid) and the wet slimy looking hair really does go along way of making him look like a Human/Atlantian hybrid while at the same time keeping the fantastical look that I like the character for.
Though with more colour, you realize that what appeared to be armour on the top part of his left arm is actually in fact just a continuation of the tattoo he has on his chest.
Works well enough for me.
,, sure has had a lot of different takes on his character over the years...
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
"the play's the thing wherein I'll catch the conscience of the king,
That's epic. Aquaman is incredibly underrated as a hero and an insane badass who regularly beats the feth out of Cthulhu and has wiped the floor with both Superman and Batman
I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn
Lemme at least leave a good hoof beat they'll remember loud and long

It's a late post-Crisis look overall, but with a new 52 style trident, and the new addition of tattoos. I like how the tat on the upper arm (and the armor detail) evokes the scales of his traditional shirt. And while he's not blonde, it looks like he got some highlights.
So unite the seven, huh?
Superman
Batman
Wonder Woman
Flash
Aquaman
Cyborg
Green Lantern
Kinda funny that the first six have been cast, but mum's the word on GL. We don't even know which GL we're getting.

Cant argue too much with that... He was great as Khal Drogo in GoT... I also rather liked him in Conan, even if the rest of the movie was a steaming pile.

Isn't it Shazam rather than Cyborg? Not that I am a huge fan of either to be honest, but that was what the article I read earlier said. Honestly, I'd rather them just stick to Supe, Bat, Aquaman and Wonder Woman for the first JL movie; the more characters they try to set up in one film the more complicated it will be. I do think it could easily be as good as The Avengers, though.
Fishboy looks cool enough, I look forward to his solo outing since we don't look to be getting a Namor movie any time soon
I actually didn't think Reynolds was the problem with that movie, FWIW. I don't think the story was very good...it was just too busy. I think they could have pulled off the Iron Man tone they were going for with a different, simpler narrative.
Blake Lively was a *dud* as Carol, I'll say that. It's funny that the actors got hitched, because their on-screen chemistry seemed weak. They needed someone with more presence and chops in that role. Meanwhile, they wasted Peter Sarsgaard and Mark Strong.
Different medium, but there was an interesting fan rumor going around about Arrow that had John Diggle actually being John Stewart. The showrunner denied it, and said that DC had other plans for the character. So we might be getting John Stewart on the big screen instead of Hal.

Diggle doesn't need powers, he's awesome enough as it is!
But does this mean Arrow/Flash/Whatever the next spin-off is will tie into the actual films? I was under the impression they were seperate entities.
They should have just done a complete version of " Green Lantern :Secret Origin" -- perfect intro story, easily left things open to fold into the JLA/whatever at a later date.

I did read something about that, but they've also cast Vic Stone. That would be eight, unless GL is out of the picture. But they can't do JL without GL, right? So I dunno. Oh, and with the underlined part...I think that's kinda what they're doing with BvS.

Yeah, they are. But Flash excepted, it appears that the TV side mostly gets the characters they aren't using for the films. It's why the TV JL they seem to be building consists of GA, Firestorm, Atom, etc. They aren't linked, but they're trying to avoid creating too much confusion, I guess.

Aquaman? There's a comic book hero called Aquaman?
You guys are making this up, right?
I remember the old megaman games from years back, and I'm pretty sure there was an aquaman in that, but this?
Sweet baby jesus.

Maybe it refers to the Seven Seas, not the seven heroes who make up the movie JL?
I also just saw the theory that it refers to the 7 treasures of Atlantis. It could of course have a double or triple meaning.
There's also another theory, though frankly a less credible one, that suggests it may refer to the Others, Aquaman's old super-chums from the New 52 continuity. Draw your own conclusions from that; I personally rather liked them in their appearances, so I'd be happy to see them in standalone Aquaman movies!

I didn't like the idea of Jason Momoa playing Aquaman at first. This poster makes me willing to give him the benefit of the doubt - as long as he isn't just under-water Conan. He's already been Conan in Conan the Barbarian and again in Game of Thrones. There doesn't need to be a third time.

It was the Martian Manhunter, not Cyborg. Captain Marvel (his name isn't Shazam) was part of Justice League International but not the JLA. Cyborg came from the Teen Titans originally.

I think he was talking about the possibility of Shazam (his name IS Shazam now and not Captain Marvel anymore) being in the JL movie. His standalone movie is scheduled in 2018 -- just before JL2 -- so it's a possibility that he ends up in the cinematic JL eventually.
Oh...and in the New 52, MM isn't a founding JL member anymore. Cyborg took his slot.

I think you'd have a small point, if they were doing it all at the same time.
But, to be honest, if the world can handle Harrison Ford playing Han Solo, Indiana Jones and Jack Ryan at the same time, it can handle this. Especially since both Indy and Solo are two of the most 'iconic' characters in film of all time.

Like Jason as both Aquaman and Conan;
Ryan Reynolds as both Green Lantern and Deadpool;
Chris Evans as both the Human Torch and Captain America?
Even if some of the above were terribly bad and rebooted.
Maybe it's just me... Lol.
Oh man, you must hate Robert DeNiro.
And Karl Urban.
