It's mine! I've a gallery on my webpage: http://www.freewebs.com/nedius/apps/photos/album?albumid=6771816
It's been a bit of a long term project - it's both a Space Hulk board, and a substitute for the Anphelion Base from Imperial Armour 4 - and as was stated earlier it's not the most practical, or cheap, set up. So far, two Imperial Sectors, one Sanctum Imperialis, one Bastion and lots of regimaental bases, plasticard, pipes and rods have gone into it's construction. Cost thus far around £200, and will probably take anohter £50-£100 just to have enough for 'Suicide Mission'. It's also pretty big - you'll need a 6x4 table for most missions, and a lot of storage.
However, building it has been immense fun, and the test games I've played using the unfinished set have been great (both SH and 40K). It also fits the 40mm Terminator bases. Which is handy! Eventually, I will aim to have a complete set for the new edition, including using shrine of the aquilla bits for a large chapel for objectives.
On the new space hulk, do any of the books have a hobby section? A painting or modelling guide?
Great stuff. Quite an investment, but the effect is excellent. My own stab was with some plastic packaging we had left over. It makes perfect size corridors, and when I saw it I new I'd attempt something space hulk related. I only got as far as a display base.
Anyway, I guess that my point is that even after it was built, the painting and finishing of such basic walls, in a minor layout, was a big task. I think GW made the right decision to stick with the pre-printed card tiles. The amount of work to make the board look good out of the box would have been monsterous.

I'm not going to bitch about the tiles being cardstock, but I too was hoping for plastic floortiles.
A few year back Mageknight did plastic interlocking dungeon pieces (floor/wall/door) and I was hoping for the tech version of that in the new SpaceHulk, or at the least some vacuum formed styrene.
In anycase, I ordered mine already, from GW and I'm waiting till I have it in my grubby little hands before I start dreaming up ways to make it 3D.

I'll "second" all the folks who've seen SH in person. The plastics are amazingly good looking. Very, very sharp.
I didn't have time to really look into the rules, but they would appear to be at least v1 "inspired", as others have noted.
But, yeah... The plastics look sharp. Very sharp. I'm almost tempted to get a second box...
The only downside I see is that you "have" to take the LC and TH/SS terminators as part of a "full" Marine force. Not sure how they'll work in the game, but based on the past that might be a problem. And to those (like me!) who want to use the Termies for their 40k armies, the mix of weapons isn't ideal.
But, hey, other than that minor quibble it's pure win!

Here's your GW lesson for today. GW has 3 levels of accounts: General, Stockist, Partnership
General: Need to meet no criteria, and get no benefits. Order when they want, pay shipping, or free shipping at 400.00
Stockist: Carry 2 each of the best selling plastics, a few other things. Get some of the limited stuff, always get free shipping, get prize/tourney support. Really no reason for a store that carries anything at all GW wise not to be a stockist level account. Can place bitz orders with minimum of 50.00 shipping.
Get listed in WD and on the website. (Most accounts are stockist level).
Partnership: Carry everything, have tables, run demos, run events, jump through many hoops that make you a good store. Get more of the limited items, 4x prize support of a stockist. Able to place bitz orders with no minimums, free shipping. Lots of work being a partnership store, about 50 in the country I think.
For Space Hulk, the allocations were:
Partnership: 20
Stockist: 10
General: No guarantees, maybe a couple if there are extra.
Some stores take their full allocation, some can't sell that many, and some, (Like me) are begging for extra. Stores can also place orders through distributors like Alliance and ACD. I'm hearing the orders through those distributors may also be heavily allocated. Not enough Space Hulky Goodness to go around it seems.
Overall, it's a fair way of doing it. Lots of other limited product from other manufacturers is dealt with in ways that are much less fair.
BUT!!!: Go place your order with your LGS now, or order it from GW. If you want a copy, I really wouldn't screw around on this one. Just my humble opinion.

I saw Space Hulk up close and personal today at the Annapolis, MD GW store. The sprues are more amazing in person, pictures do not do them justice. The mission book and rule book are also extremely nice. I am very impressed with the whole thing. Can't wait to get my copy. Only a little over a fortnight till Sept. 5.

I"m with mikhaila on this one. I went back to my FLGS today, just to check it out; they had their 10 copies counted for by 11:00 on monday. Luckily I'm getting mine, but I feel sorry for everyone who's sitting and waiting on this one and might miss out on something AWESOME.

That and the cost would have gone through the roof. It was probably a hell of a lot cheaper to do the cardstock (as expensive as printing may have been) than to make molds for the SH hallways and rooms... which means that they would've had to raise the price even more... is Space Hulk was going to put me back $150 or $175 instead of $100, it would have been a tougher decision, and I probably wouldn't have ordered it...
Everyone has their price, I suppose.

I too saw the sprues in the flesh today - very impressed, my sole disappointment is that a _few_ of the stealers are boringly posed just like on previous sprues, unlike the other new poses which we've seen online and are really nicely done.

Very Nice! I really like it!
I am so excited about getting my copy, but I do agree that plastic floor tiles would have been both nice, and not too hard to do.
They already have the City of Death and Shrine of Aquilla floor tiles, and using those as a base to create one sided tiles from would not have been difficult, or expensive (unless it would breach existing copyright clauses or some such). However, as this is a stand alone game, intended to be playable right out of the box, having plain, unpainted floor tiles would have been a bit dull. Having these fantastic looking card tiles gives you an exciting looking board right out of the box, the coloured plastics clearly separate 'sides' and help to make it a good stand alone set. Ok, so the hobby side of it has suffered because of this, but if you've got the money you can make a plastic board by buying LOTS of CoD floor tiles from the bitz selection. Or go nuts and make a full 3D board. There's still plenty of opportunity for hobby activities related to this game, but the thing is that you don't need to at the moment.

I suppose, given the extreme level of excitement Space Hulk is causing, GW probably could have done well to make two versions, a standard copy which is the Space Hulk they released, and a "Special Edition" with a lot of fancy upgrades like a wooden or metal box, 3d plastic tiles, that electric timer, and maybe a handful more minis. Sell the standard set for 100$ and sell the special edition for 2-300$.
Madness you say? Well, possibly, but considering the original game sells on eBay for so much, and Collector's Editions of Settlers of Catan have gone for 300$+ for less fancy bits, I could see a really tricked out set going for a good bit of cash to the rabid fans.
I know I would have gotten myself drunk and then talked myself into it...

Well, that's my copy pre-ordered. I'm not too fussed about the lack of plastic tiles or an electronic timer. I could always make my own scenery, and use a stopwatch.
Other than the fantastic looking models, the reason I got it is that it's a Straight-out-of-the-box game, and I don't really need to buy anything else to play it. Perfect for games nights ^^

About that special edition suggestion for Space Hulk, GW has gotten burned with expensive special editions before, especially when the regular version is already beautiful. Example, the 4th edition 40K rule book. The regular book at $50 was so nice, hardly anyone bought the $95 special version of the book. They are still sitting on copies of that and we're now in 5th edition. A $200+ plus special version of Space Hulk would have been a huge risk.
Making an outstanding single version and selling it at a premium price as they are doing is a much less risky proposition. As it is, a lot of people are thinking twice about spending $99 on the version we're already getting. How many of the people who are spending $99 for this one would spend double or more on a fancier version? Most people for the money would still rather have multiple copies of the $99 version and GW would have been stuck with a $200-$300 clunker almost no one would buy.

I never understood that one. Yes, you get a solid Planetstrike army, but you really don't save any money on it vs buying it piecemeal. I counted it all out, and it would cost you exactly the same buying each one individually vs buying the whole thing... and maybe you're not dying to have some of the stuff in there (ie whirlwind)... I just didn't get it. Why no drop in price? You're about to have someone drop over $1000 on your product, why not give them a bit of a break on it?

yeah,
oh new token... looks like a lightningclaw token next to a regular stormbolter/powerfist marine???
he never had it in the previous turn below...
so i'm guessing he's going wolverine on the genestealers??? lol what's going on... he should be dead! to be fair!
What's new today wrote:It's amazing how effective overwatch can be. From almost being overwhelmed at the start of the turn Ed's lone Space Marine had gone on to clear out an entire corridor. Scot could only look on and hope for a Bolter jam but even when it happened Ed used one of his handy Command points to clear it.
Can you save command point for the genestealer turn?
Is this new, for this edition? I wonder.
Or was it always a part of 1st or 2nd edition??? I play 2nd and I didn't think you could keep spare command points to clear jams!?!
Still from the photo show, he wold have had to be really luck in via 2nd edition rules to kill all these with overwatch!
I wonder if this is a case of setting up the models for photos and talking out of their rearend?
Panic...

I believe that token is for when a marine chooses the "guard" option, costs 2aps and helps them in melee.
EDIT :
from the Space hulk status thread:
The marines in this edition also have the option of "guarding" which costs 2aps and gives them aid in melee ( a reroll I think).
I believe if you "bluff" ( lie) about your command points and are caught you auto lose.
Think marines shooting ( with storm bolters anyway) maxes out at killing on a 5 !
Believe ( not sure here though) the assault cannon is the same as the storm bolters ruels wise but "merely" with more dice.
Heard a horrific rumour that the broodlord is immune to the heavy flamer ( !) and requires 2 Ws done simultaneously ( ie a double 6 for a stormbolter !) to die.
I think the broodlord's immunity is due to the 2w thingy, so no flaming that to death.
EDIT 2 :
You can indeed spend cps in the stealer phase, even to clear jams etc and then keep firing.
As long as you have a serg. on the board you can redraw your cp token.
Stormbolters in overwatch have a max range of 12 squares as well.
Ass. cannons roll 3 dice when shooting.

Bluffing and being caught probably just means you lose whatever remaining command points you have, or it's just an instant turn-over. I doubt you'd just 'insta-lose' the game. That's silly.
