What did you build the box mag from? I assumed you took the back of an umbra ferrox bolter and added the front of an autorifle, but having a closer look at it I can see it's the whole rifle with the mag added. It sure looks like an umbra ferrox mag.

@Gerner: How would adding a bipod contribute to make the gun simpler? Now understanding what Peter tried to achieve I think the gun reflects his ties to the inquisition quite well. It shows access to a certain level of equipment, that I didn't expect to begin with, but it makes sense. Adding a bipod would imo take away from the deranged veteran vibe. I would expect him rushing in with his big box of boom instead of lining up his shot using the bipod. Don't know exactly how much damage he took from his rendezvous with the ork, but he doesn't look like the considerate type he probably used to be anymore.

Also I really have to play against your gangs one day, Peter. If I ever make it to the UK for the GD we have to make it happen.

Björn is would give me nothing but pleasure to have a game of Inquisitor with you against your Warband. I'd want to take pictures and do a battle report too.

By build I meant the whole gun out of parts not just the mag. You were spot on with umbra ferrox bolter with the barrel, rear bit and the gun sight removed. The barrel is from a renegade militia autogun I had left over from the kit.

PDH wrote:Sorry Gerner I blame Baiyuan distracting me with an interesting debate on background and concept. He is most definitely not renegade, definitely fanatic....and a little unhinged. Which makes him perfect company for a monodominant inquisitor.

Brian Nelson sculpted the Warhammer Giant kit that I took the head from. I only added a bionic jaw to fix where I cut his head off. The look in his eyes is all down to Brian Nelson sculpting it.

I think the gun is pretty cool and makes him look a little different, being my main purpose. This project is to showcase Inquisitor 28 and I didn't want to use just an autogun. The other way of looking at it is he is also in the employ of the inquisition and has access to their armoury. I'm not going to add a bipod since I think it would upset the balance.

No worries it wasn't so hard to ask again.

What I meant with renegade was more the line of redemptionist.
One who have given up the normal look up on the Emperor (may he live forever), and taken on a new, more fanatical path. (not in the chaos speaking renegade).

Arh, thanks for clearing that up.

I wasn't sure if he worked for the inquisition or just a fanatic cult.
In my opinion the gun could use a decrease in size or an addition of a bipod as it looks to unwieldy without any support, as it have no real stock and the bullets looks "big".
I think the bipod would add to the balance of the model, but it is really your call.

Remember the rest of the model is still jaw-dropping and I am only trying to help and come with suggestions.

It would make it simpler in the purpose that it would look more like a saw gun and less like an oversized assault rifle. I think it would create more balance and sense.
I can see your point, but it would be normal if the gun have a bipod, and you could still run forward blazing with it.

Completely dry? I'd just use a strong brown, maybe with a hint of red and black and let the pattern do the rest. Fresh blood is really easy to identify, dried blood can easily be mistaken for mud, so the blood pattern has to be on point.

Gerner - Hmmm the bullets are actually air vents to keep the smaller bullets inside cool I hadn't considered that the mag had bullets on the side really.

Baiyuan - That was what I was worried about. The blood I was after is going on the flail/flagellant whip hanging from his waste. It is too small for splatter like that. The blood will have to be reasonably fresh.

King Thor - Thanks. I did the robes something like this from a black undercoat. Astro Grey base coat to cover the black. Astro Grey + Ghost Grey and then a thin washes of Desert Yellow, Dev Mud and Griffin Sepia. Then in the deep recesses and where it seemed right I used a thinned mix of Black Ink +Brown Ink + Green Inks .

Then came the highlighting which started off as Codex Grey + Ghost Grey + a little Grave Yard Earth. Highlight with added Ghost Grey. For the final few highlights I also added a little bit of white to the mix.

The splatter shouldn't be the problem. Cut a small hole into a piece of paper and place it over the club, then take a toothbrush (either an old one or somebodyelse's) and sprinkle your blood paint from some distance. Makes nice fine droplets, that look more accurate than painted ones.
For the blood itself I'd either use old citadel inks (a mix of red, brown and chestnut) or my new method tamiya clear red with a hint of brown and black (if you let it dry a little before applying it, it clumps and you get some gory chunks).

Hey PDH! Do you by any chance have a pot of tamiya clear red? You can get some fantastic blood effects with it pretty easily - this technique and this one both produce some really good results!

I really love your factotum - would never have even considered that head myself, but you've really made it work - he looks the part. Great kitbashing with the rifle, and I really like the GS peasant robes. Really original warband, really inspiring. Wish some people round my end played =I=!

I'm thinking about adding a purity seal to the autogun hanging next to his right hand and one on the front of the drum mag. Both locations have some damaged resin details which I didn't really notice until they got some paint. I think it will add a little more detail to those rather plane areas.

Cheers Northen glad you like him.

Baiyuan - I think I must be living under a rock. Plus I'm not normally a fan of blood splatter. Unfortunately the model shop was shut....but I'm off work on Friday so I'll pick some up while I'm there. I'll also be getting some plasticard to have a go at finishing off the floors on my nercomunda buildings. My Inquisitor will be a treat for when I've finished the scenery.

I also need some help as I'm stuck. I'm looking at arming my Inquisitor with a power sword. But I'm stuck for an Imperial sword that looks delicate enough for her to carry. I want something similar in size to a dark eldar power sword but with an Imperial feel - straight edges. Has anyone got any suggestions?

I would check out the Empire range, especially the Greatswords and Empire General sets. The General in particular has a very nice sword that looks downright slender next to the enormous cleavers you typically see on GW models, and of course it's plastic so you can easily cut off the blade at the grip and file it down if you need to shorten it.

There is the power sword from the cadian command set with the bionic arm that you could cut loose, but that is probably too boring.
http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/cadian-command-bionic-arm-amp-power-sword-p-4412.html

There there is the sanguinary guard glaive encarmine, but I think it will be too big.
http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/sanguinary-guard-glaive-encarmine-c-p-5932.html

There is the short sword from the empire great sword kit, but that is maybe too small.
http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/empire-great-sword-short-sword-amp-arm-p-4722.htmll

There is Runefang from the empire general kit, maybe a fit?
http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/empire-general-sword-runefang-p-1361.html

Else there is the battle sword from the empire wizard kit.
http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/battle-wizard-sword-p-1385.html

Also there is the knight sword from the empire knight kit.
http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/empire-knight-sword-arm-p-2468.html

Another sword is the bretonian knight sword from the bretonian knight kit.
http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/bretonnia-knight-sword-arm-p-3402.html

I better stop now. I hope it helps. You got lots of possibilities.

EDIT: Reminder, learn to read. Also, what do you mean with straight edges?

I think you'll like tamiya red, it's a really weird paint. Smells godawful, and genuinely seems to coagulate if you leave it to air too long. Can't really think what else you would use it for tbh - I'm still not convinced that they're not killing off excess Tamiya staff to make it...
If you're willing to risk a little bit of spouse rage, I'd definitely be up for you dropping by! I'm sure you could find some kind of reliable alibi for a few hours - I happen to have some contacts at the hospital...

I think I've got a FW cadian sergeant power sword I'm not using, if you need it - the thing's so slender it pretty much snaps if you look at it! PM me your address, and I'll see if i can dig it out

Automatically Appended Next Post:
EDIT: going to have to retract that, I'm afraid - can't find the damn thing! I do have a power sword from the cadian command sprue though if you need it. It usually comes attached to a bionic arm. It's quite long, but really slender, and you could probs clip it a little shorter quite easily!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
EDIT EDIT: Being a moron, should probs go to bed. Just found the FW one - on a ganger I was making ages ago and eventually abandoned. Hence up for scavenging and still up for grabs! It has a rather ornate handle, and is attached to a Right hand. Hope that's useful

Maybe use the sword arm from the Isabella von Carstein blister?

Ok since asking last night I think I've found one I like, it give me a good feeling http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/images/007205210380.jpg. The dire swords I feel might just work with a little conversion.

DexterKong - Not a bad idea

Gerner - By straight I meant a curved blade like Dark Eldar/Dark Elves swords

Scarper - Very kind offer on the sword. Thank you. As above I think I've found the sword I want. I really appreciate the offer. What was/went wrong with the abandoned mini? I might pack Abi off to her Aunts for the evening on her own then / alternatively you could come up with a cocktail of drugs that will knock her out for 12 hours.

prime12357, Capitansolstice. I've got Isabella and I'll actually be using her head for the Inquisitor. Her sword as Ghostflame mentions is super tiny and I think a little too short. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Ghostflame - Cheers but I think it is too small.

Yo B - I hope so since I think the Inquisitor should be the centre of attention. I'm more annoyed that I did a scarper. There I was rummaging through my bits box for half an hour for the Dire Sword to no avail. Then remembered my Swooping Hawk Exarch is armed with the spare. I might pull one off my Dire Avenger Exarch since I never use it because twin shuriken catapult is so much better, Either that or find a bits site with one in stock so I can turn it into a combi-handflamer.

Hey Q0rbin. To get the right feel for 40k I think you need to add the fantasy element. I've read something recently that the aim of 40k was to have a fantasy game in space rather than a sci-fi game. As for painting the latest chap he and I are at my painting table at the moment and I really do hope to have him finished for the Ammo Bunker Bash at WW on saturday. His face is proving a bit tricky and I really wish I had left it and the book to be painted separately.
