Thanks guys. Taking care of a little unfinished business... whipped out 5 more bases of scarabs today... these are on the new bases and 3 of the bases are magnetized so they can keep track of wounds.

Have a 2000 point battle set up between the boys. But we'll need to quick build some termigants for the little one. Will paint them hopefully this week, but would like to have the build by tonight so the kids can start playing ASAP.

@proto: No bloody idea. I guess I'd look for a good base manufacturer if I could afford it. Use bits of building combined with some "sidewalk" plasticard & grey gravel if I couldn't.

I've seen people produce very convincing sidewalk with hand torn, sheet cork.

Or if you've got a blender, you can pop the sheet cork in and give it a pulse or three! :-) then you get the bigger parts and the fine stuff to fill in gaps nicely! once undercoated and dry brushed it'll be rubble in no time!


or just buy the resin ones! :-)

Well, that would probably be two 5-man assault squads with removable jump packs, outfitted BA style (not too extreme... just a flamer if I remember right) and a sanguinary priest aka apoth... but a cool looking one.

OH yeah... well I've been working on both for quite some time now, but I did a bunch of painting and new bases for both... so with the new bases they pretty much look like new armies.

@Egg: The same to you good sir! I'm really glad they liked the presents, but I'm still painting for them... got a ton of termigants to do for Thing 2 and some of the new IC's to do for Thing 1. All good though, I've been remiss in doing anything for them for a long time, so it's nice to really give their armies a major boost.

They loved them. I haven't really done much in the way of close-up shots, but there are some closer shots on my Nid and Doom Eagle/Necron blogs (see sig). I could take some closer shots if people wanted, but as these are really only painted to a tabletop standard, I hadn't bothered to this point. I guess close-ups of the Tervigon might be interesting as it uses the Chapterhouse conversion kit.

Are those armies the same points value?

Depends on how many "extras" you give the nids... but generally not quite... the Necron army is around 2000 pts and the Nids are at 2300+. Now I'm just doing two necron ICs and a cryptek, which should bring the 'cron total up a bit. I'm also working on a bunch of gaunts for the nids, which (because of the tervigon) won't affect their total very much at all.
