Why not try and shoulder mount the cannon? Kinda like a massive version of the Predators plasma caster?

You could try adding a turret above its head with the battle cannon inside or turn it into an arm weapon.

If you go for the second option I'm going to suggest something I have my eye on for a Khorne vindicator that you can pick up on ebay, search for Ironblaster cannon on worldwide as they are in the States.

Just don't bid on the same one as me lol

@giraffe - That is a cool cannon! I was thinking of a whirlwind turret for the centre hatch, and a cannon arm

but also I was thinking of the reaper cannons as top turret also. So many ideas!!!!!

Arm-mount the cannon-try using a Vanquisher cannon and spike it up. Make it look big and bulky, a bit like the Ork Mega Dread cannon arm you can get form Forge World.

Also, whilst the Hellblade is a good idea, how about a giant Chainaxe?

Man, that defiler looks nothing short of horrifying tipios. Gods I'd hate to meet that thing on the battlefield...and it's not even finished being built much less painted.

Man! So much action in that Defiler's pose already! That head is pure win! I love it! I would think there would be room for at least 3 ranged weapons on the shoulders, one on each side and one in the middle. I'm sure you'll figure out something great. Can't wait to see more!

but ATM I'm trying to make the battle cannon in a similar way to forges world Mega Dread cannon as suggested by Squigsquasher.

Why not give it hands, then have the cannon be a two-handed weapon? You could have the CC weapons be sheathed or whatnot then.

With all these ideas coming in, I might have to nake more than 1

Finally ordered a load of plastic tube and stuff, with some other bitz order for the cannon!! so waiting for that to make it.

Tried the hand idea today, only have a daemon prince hand but I think it can work after some more bending.

Any thoughts?

Hmmmm.... not sure. Might just distract from the head which I don't think you'd want.

If this was a small dread or deamon price concept then I would jump all over the hand with head, but as a defiler I think the hand is out of place.

The entire concept is the kind of thing that my nightmares are subconciously intervined with, yes as my dreams get nasty I have something like this jump in and make all the bad stuff go away or at least seem less bad.

I almost feel like I should just convert all my marines to chaos so I can have this much fun with some concept builds, but I wont.

Giant ChainAxe sounds like a wonderfully twisted and fitting weapon for this guy.

I like the hand. It needs some work but I can really see this working. Will you be adding cables and things like that to show that the daemon is hardwired to the defiler?

@gits - Thats a good point, looking at it this morning it is taking away from the awesome head! and also I've got to get a load of chains on him some how, and the hand may get in the way:(

@matt - It's an idea I've had for ages, I want to do it on a dread, maybe a Word Bearer.

@1-i - You gona have to just start a chaos army as well

Then you can bring your nightmares to life!! if there that scary your conversions would look awesome

This head has had a real impact, so I don't want to take anything away from it. Hand will not stay!! it will be back though, on another project

Not overly keen on the hand but i'm sure you'll make it work.

Coming back to the cannon, have you thought of Armorcast? They have quite a few large cannon/turret things on their website and not bad prices either. I looked at getting one for my Titan but decided they were too small but might work for a defiler.

Just caught up again with this most awesome Blog. I'm glad that you have a nice work desk now

My Wife would let me use the dining room table but i had to put everything away each night *sigh*. But then for christmas she got me a artists / tackle box, to put my paint and tools in, and the GW Workstation lap tray. So i used to paint sat in the lounge infront of the TV. But now My son is 1 years old and all inquisitive, its all moved upstairs. But i have a lovely big desk i got for free from work as they were chucking it out. So now i get to paint infront of my PC, once everyone else is in bed.

The defiler legs looke awesome, having him up on 2 feet looks incredibly imposing. I agree that the hand detracts from the head, but cables / wires behind it, will fill the gap and add to it. :thumbs up: :thumbs up:

It must be hard to clear up all that awesome sauce every night, it just gets every where
