If GW doesn't wanna give us Eldar we'll make our own.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Peregrine grav tanks please, the GW equivalent are marked with the 'evil rune'.

You need only produce the turret.

Nice looking minis but distinctly different enough that they don't fit into a pre-existing Craftworlds army. Probably good for folks looking to make a Corsair or Exodite force though with the turrets available.

A shame that you have to buy in for all of the sculpts though, I would have liked the "Everlasting" on its own, the rest of the troops are just a bit too not-Eldar but Eldar.

The Void Climbers and Soul Eaters look fabulous.

Actually, everything else does too!

I hope there will be a way to buy some in resin, as I don’t have a resin printer and would likely only need a dozen in all, making an STL pledge a nonstarter for me.

Edit: Assuming GW doesn’t shut this down like they shut down the power armored dudes Two Idiots Printing Service were selling.

I gotta say, this is the first 3rd party army I’d be incredibly keen on. The designs are really good, compared to the usual over design of 3rd party sculpts.

There are twenty two vendor pledges in there for the right to print and sell right now. I don't think you'll have trouble getting hold of them afterwards.

Some really nice designs there, but hot damn, they're not even trying to pretend it's anything but Eldar.

Usually, you see some twist, like Wehrmacht Orcs or something, but I actually thought the painted not-Guardian was a conversion based on a GW model.

You could say that's a compliment? Of sorts?

dammit..and this was the first 3d sculpts of reapers I've ever liked...

Still, even if it fails. The owner could sell them direct to every person whose pledged . There digital files and they have already been created. Thats gonna be a tough one to completely shut down

Description of infringing material: The designer has produced models which so closely resemble those used in Games Workshop’s Eldar lines that it cannot be said to be coincidental nor can it be said to be a creative happenstance from consulting similar source material.

I kinda have to agree...

I always wonder how GW finds these things out, like there's some eagle scout Dakkanaut (or somewhere sle) who runs to tell GW the moment something like this shows up.

What i'm wondering about, is why they're going after this and not the likes of Victoria or Atlantic or Kromlech. Although obviously i'd prefer they go after nothing.

boy, I cant wait for the Tolkien estate to sue Wizards of the Coast for including basically every race from Tolkien's universe in their RPG game system.

Oh wait, is it actually not illegal to take ideas someone had 25+ years ago and remake them in a totally different format? That's called a 'free market' you say?

Well, these miniature manufacturers must be breaking some other kind of infringement, surely. The Games Workshop line of Eldar products, those are CAD-sculpted digital 3d models intended for people to print on at-home resin printers, right? that's the business model GW has, so these people are infringing on that, right?

Because it sure would be weird if they were designed 25+ years ago by someone casting hand-sculpted proofs into molds and manufactured using plastic die-casting.

What's to stop them from just renaming things and putting them on My Mini Factory?

Heck, they've been trying to gear up as a crowdfunding platform for 3D model files as it is.

Plus it isn't like there's already a plethora of "not- GW" type models on there already, seeing as how I've printed a few...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Yeah I've printed so many not slaanesh , and not Dark elf/witch elf models off of MMF that my armies are 30% proxy; GW is gonna have a real hard time killing this proper

i'm sure they do where they think they've got cause (if you look back on the Artel W thread they had to pull some minis as GW thought they were an issue), but without a KS where the IP dispute is made public, or a company talking about it we won't know, minis will just disappear (or get a resculpt which can be released without acknowledging there was an issue_

now at least their C&D are far more focused than before, and if the company pulls the specific thing that's causing problems GW will withdraw their complaint quickly as we've seen with a decals KS I was part of one looked too close to the mechanicus skull in cog, but once that was changed (to a separate skull and separate cog you could apply ontop of one another) GW ignored several others that were close to faction symbols) and I seem to remember HeresyLab had an issue with one of their KS where one/a few sculpts were an issue, but many others that were very clearly inspired by GW art/minis stuck around and the KS came back within a week or two.

in both cases the issues were resolved really fast, whereas if GW wanted to be a real pain they could have dragged things out far longer

Humerous result for artel. When GW came after them for the IP infringement. They just released all those stls for free since they could not sell them. take that GW

There have been many stl models in places like thingiverse getting taken down because they are similar to GW's stuff. While some are clearly visual copies of miniatures or models from games like Warhammer Total War, others were 40k inspired but not really a copy of anything, so not really an infringement to their IP.
It is really a guess what is picked on or not.

It is not really a guess, GW will DMCA anything thru a company that will take things down without question like Thingiverse does, and with companies that have a tendency to actually push back like Patreon they are much more hesitant.

I meant that even in Thingiverse some things that are IP violations to GW remain there in plain sight, while some that are somewhat inspired but different get taken down. I have even seen completely custom stuff suddenly disappearing because they were 40k proxies, despite being completely different (not even directly inspired, just similar role/scale). It is that randomness I was refering to, as I know that GW treads more carefully with companies that ask questions before removing something.

Even in that case, GW won the lawsuit in the aspect where Chapterhouse was creating complete models that were meant as complete stand-ins. Ironically, it was the Chapterhouse Eldar Not-Farseer and Not-Striking Scorpion Exarch that Chapterhouse had to cease production on due to IP. That's probably the difference with Victoria as well, per the Chapterhouse ruling you can legally make parts and accessories for GW kits and even call them Space Marine or Eldar compatible, but you can't make complete models that are direct stand-ins. It's also pretty easy to throw an IP dispute at Kickstarter and get something taken down, KS usually blocks the page and walks away while the 2 parties fight it out on their own.

Which is sad, because these designs are fantastic. Love the crystal faceplates, although it'll be a nightmare to do a good effect across a whole army for it
