I gave the whole thing a liberal bath of Agrax Earthshade (devlan mud, brown wash) I think tomorrow night that I will add some fine highlights around panel lines with orangish-red, then maybe some airbrush soot and probably call this one finished eh?

That DakkaJet looks great! Well done. Weathering really puts the topper on it.

the scratches looks nasty and as if that pilot is used to tackle other aircrafts instead leaving the taken down work to his gunners

also...using the white decals for the kills was a good decision!!! and are there signs of sponge weathering? or how did you weather the smaller sections?

by the way... seeing the checkered parts...you see why you have to do the showroom paintjob first and then ruination after that... it would simply look not the part the other way around!!!

Looks cool. I'm surprised it's killed so many other aircraft. When I think Orks and vehicles first thing that always comes to mind is ramming the hell out of the enemy with it.

I don't know about those kill tallies I don't think you should be able to display them until you have earned them

They're Orks it could even be previous owners that were bashed and had it taken from them. Or even count the number of grots sucked into the intake when it started or ran over on the run way. Kills are kills.

Yep Vik..Sponged it up with Rhinox Hide (dark reddish brown high-pigment base color)

Yet again, Dave has outdone himself.

I am not a fan of the water release decals but on yours there is not telltale glistening-ish edge around them. Did you wash or anything else with paint over them?

Using Micro Sol and Micro Set is the way to make decals look like they are painted on!

There's a very simple technique to make decal edges go away. You apply gloss varnish to the surface, let it dry, lay down the decal, then matte varnish over it (ie: the spray varnish you typically apply, anyways.

Advanced techniques include using, as Dave mentioned, the products Microsol and Microset.

Microsol 'softens' the decal plastic, allowing it to settle into crevices, mold over curves forms (shoulder pauldrons, for example...)

Microset 'sets' the decal, making it adhere to the surface.

I still apply varnish down before using sol/set, but that's me.

If you are going to add oil-paint weathering though, a gloss varnish is essential, the oil paint is much easier to feather and blend over the smooth varnish. oil-paint weathering can create an amazing look if done properly, the only downside is that it can take DAYS to dry.

Sometimes I forget how well you paint. That is an excellent job. Wow. The weathering is perfect, I love the diminishing taper streaks from front to back on the wings.

The bommer is set to go to Primer spray today!

Masterful weathering there Dave! I would cringe so hard painting damage over such intricate chequer-work, but it really paid off!

I didn't cringe until I soaked the whole thing in Agrax Earthshade!

However, it has dried all day and all night and this is how it looks now:



Do you think it needs highlights?

imo looks good as is but thats just me. at any rate cant wait to see what you start next.
