My pile of shame as of Jan 1, 2025:
40k:
Lots of Dark Angels, including a lot that is partially painted and just needs finished.
Basically a whole Tyranid army of >3k points.
A Cerastus Knight Lancer that is currently in subassemblies, primed, and barely started on paint.
A bunch of Astra Militarum stuff, including some Wargames Atlantic infantry and a few 3D printed items, as well as some actual GW vehicles. Most of it is not even put together, let alone painted.
About 1200-ish points of Leagues of Votann, including a Land Fortress, a Sagitaur, and a lot of infantry and a few of the bikes.
AoS:
Most of my Kruleboyz army is not painted, or even primed. Not sure I'm going to get to it this year either as the rules for Kruleboyz are looking pretty sad this edition.
Probably around 5500 points of Stormcast Eternals still need some paint. A few units are primed at least, and I've got a few things still on sprues.
I've got roughly 500 points so far of Lumineth Realm-lords for my Avatar: The Last Airbender themed army; just the spearhead and a box of Riverblades. None of it is even primed yet.
Middle-Earth:
Very little of what I have is painted so far, and I have models for several factions, including: Minas Tirith, Lothlorien, Rohan, Warriors of Druadan, Khazad-dum, The Fellowship, Thorin's Company, Mordor, Easterlings, Khand, Moria, Angmar. Heaps to do on this front. Khand may not happen as the army has been squatted unfortunately.
Kill Team:
Ork Kommandos: These guys have been in partially painted hell for a year and a half now. It'd be nice to finish them.
Adeptus Arbites Exaction Squad: These guys are built, but not primed or painted yet.
Veteran Guardsmen: These guys are getting rolled in with my Astra Militarum for Big 40k.
Space Marine Scouts: These guys are part of my Dark Angels army, see above.
Necromunda:
I've got a bunch of Orlock stuff, and most of it is not even assembled. Might get to it this year, might not.
Other, non GW games:
I've got 2 Infinity forces (Yu Jing and Haqqislam) and nothing is painted.
I've got 5 Guildball teams, none painted.
I also have one of the starter sets of Godtear, unpainted.
Aliens: Another Glorious Day in the Corps: I have the core set and all expansions (Ultimate Badasses, Get Away From Her, You B***h, and In the Pipe, Five By Five), as well as a box of models that replace many of the tokens like sentry guns and stuff. I started on the heroes from the core box a few years ago and they've been in partially painted hell ever since, and I painted some of the xenomorphs last year. Lots more to do for this game.
Boxed Kickstarter games:
Ankh: Gods of Egypt: I've got the full Kickstarter edition, haven't painted anything yet.
Primal: The Awakening: Ditto, but I have at least primed one of the monsters and the four hunters from the core box (started painting a couple of the hunters).
Dune: War for Arrakis: Just got this one for Christmas, haven't painted any of it yet (obviously).

Planned purchases for 2025:
Battle for Edoras starter set for Middle Earth. One of my FLGSs is holding a copy for me, I'm just waiting until payday to grab it.

I've got some stuff I picked up as PP was closing shop and a bit more of the new Khador I picked up to finalize that army. Currently the bulk of my pile of shame. Not planning to grow it further, but it'll probably depend on if the game picks back up.

Warhammer 40k

12 Models

Two units of Squighog riders that the codex made kind of weird and then I got more of in the Combat Patrol plus a couple vehicles that I picked up in box sets. Low priority but definitely want to get it cleared so I don't feel bad picking up some things I need like Kommandos and likely the new Kill team units in the future.

Warhammer 40k

The death of the Deathwatch got me building them as an omni-marine chapter with things like Helbrecht and Guillimen in black with a silver arm. I'll likely do some more of this, as despite the stay of execution I'm not planning on relying on Deathwatch having functional rules.

Marvel Crisis Protocol, Shatterpoint, Judgement and Infinity

These games have had a chunk of new players recently and while I don't need anything for any of them, I'm sure I'll pick up a few new releases as they are very actively seeing play. Nothing I'm looking to pick up until the end of the month, so I'm hoping to get caught up on the backlog in the meantime.

First finished unit of 2025, a regiment of Magmaforged. That felt a little slow, but I assembled a couple of characters and regiments in the same timeframe.

Made a good start on the Anglo-saxon army, starting on the shieldwall. Primed and paint being applied!

Have also assembled two units of skirmishers for this army., but they are still a long way from getting painted. Not sure how I am going to prime as the weather is very cold, the previous ones were sprayed, so I am loathe to switch to brush as I do not want the finish to come out differently than the shieldwall.

Spraypaint does alright so long as the temperature isn't too far below freezing. I've sprayed lots of stuff in 28° weather, although I do try to be as quick as I can reasonably manage.

The 4° temperatures we're supposed to have Sunday, that's a whole different story.

Currently fighting the opportunity to get several things I need for armies and the desire to finish up the backlog that I FINALLY got under 50 again....

Finished some Sacred Band, and also Persenia the Gorgon, who I didn't technically buy. Our Vanguard got the narrative campaign pack that includes her and just gave the model away as a freebie.

And some Magmaforged to finish out the month. 37 models painted, 49 (mostly) different models assembled and base coated.

Got some decent weather for priming so Anglo-saxons and Heroquest are back on the painting table!

Finished up 22 Warmachine models but picked up 20 Infinity models that offset that a bit. Still, I'm overall getting back down to where there's not a whole lot of real backlog so much as needing to buy recent purchases. 54 models overall on the queue, though probably pick up another 6 this weekend for Marvel. Hoping to have half of that painted this month and thankfully not a lot of new releases on the horizon.

Soulblight- Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon, Vampire Lord on Foot, 10 zombies, 10 dire wolves, the Beast, and a Necromancer. I will be buying the new soulblight box of death rattle skeletons.
Ogors- 1 butcher, 1 slaughtermaster, 1 tyrant, and the gnoblars that come with the ogors.
Kruleboyz- I've got 20 spears, Wizard on giant vulcher, and dude on slugraker.
Hedonites- KoS, 20 demonettes, demonettes with mirror, terrain piece, and spells.
Slaves- converting back to squares for all of my old models. I have 10 Chosen nearly finished.

Heresy:
Dark Angels, First Legion- I need to apply decals to over 150 models and tanks to complete the army.
Emperor's Children, 3rd Legion- 50 marines, 6 jet bikes, 10 Tartarus Terminators, a couple of contemptor class, a leviathan, and a shooty dread, a cerebus, a land raider, a spartan, and some characters. I need to buy 10 of the Legion terminators, Luscius, Eidolon, and decals.

Old World:
Bretonians- the new box, a second box of knights, a second box of Pegasus knights, and two damsels. I need to buy some grail knights to complete the army.

Warriors of Chaos- a lord on manticore and 2 chariots. Then I need to rebase 50 warriors, 20 knights, and 32 marauders with flails.

Lizardmen- my oldhammer army, 3 krox, 64 warriors, 24 skink, 16 riders, 6 salamanders, 3 slaan (1 carried on palaquin, 1 FW, 1 finecast), and 20 of the elite warriors with full command.

WH40K:
Custodes- 15 warriors, 6 terminators, and 3 dreadnoughts.

Imperial Guard- 3 regimental advisers.

Finished up some Clockwork Hoplites.

That finishes off my current City States, but they won't be genuinely done until I get my hands on some more Sacred Band and maybe a third unit of Inquisitors.

Flame Berserkers are next in the queue, and once those are done the Dwegholm will be feature-complete.

I want to get me some Emperors Children when they get released, so I'm trying to knock out some old stuff first.

Finally finished my 40K Khorne Lord on Juggernaut, that I (ineptly) converted way before the dedicated model came out - I uploaded a pic of him primed almost exactly 10 years ago...

Boreas Missile rack for my Deredeo. Thought I was using Grim Black Speed Paint. But had grabbed Gravelord Grey. Thought it was going on weird, and then I realised my error. For reference, both paints are from Army Painter.

But what a gorgeous, smooth grey it achieved (base colour was Mechanicus Standard Grey out the spray can).

And from that? I’ve now a decent scheme for the body armour of my soon to be procured Swooping Hawks, as it’s a gorgeous, stormy and moody grey tone, well suited to Craftworld Atlansar.

Might also work very well for speed painting Heresy Era Space Woofs.

I want to know how you painted 25,500 points of 40k in 6 weeks, I wouldn't have believed that was physically possible.

Nothing more finished for me yet, but I did expedite my planned purchases for the year to avoid any price hikes due to highly questionable US trade policy.

Ah yes, that was my mistake. I listed all of my currently painted miniatures (which are painted through 2016-2025). My reason for this was to have a comparison of unpainted and painted.

Finished up my MCP releases. Working on a random MonPoc monster and then its time to tackle Infinity.

Well, I got solar and the sentinel done, but the krieg box is still on sprue, while my plan to turn old FW mortars into new kreig artillery is going slowly
