I'm in the same boat as some others. I dislike so many of Mantic's fantasy aesthetic that I finally made the decision not to back based on previous work. Now I'm sad

A ton of monstrous creatures would have been awesome!

If anyone is really interested in this stuff, I bought in to get more D&D minis... And then Reaper's KS came out and made most of this irrelevant for me.

I would be willing to sell off a good portion of the stuff to anyone who is interested. Feel free to contact me or I'll start a SS thread when I get them.

They'll still be a really good deal once they are launched too!

Also - someone mentioned that we've already seen the Chaos Dwarf (!) Golems, and I do vaguely remember that, but I also seem to remember that the picture wasn't all that good/details were obscured/etc.

Anyone got a link to it stashed somewhere convenient?

I have some shots on my blog, Alpharius, but I'd agree that they weren't brilliant pics. Don't recall seeing any official shots, though.

And Pacific just posted in the Mantic subforum that TotalWargamer has Iron Ancestors at 60% off, Alph. It's UK, I've never used them, but if you can't use them, maybe you have a buddy in the UK who can.

I hope those golem arms will be separate in the end, though. if not, there's not going to be much variation in those units...

Just realized those Golems have integral round bases. Very large round bases. I'm thinking Mantic has produced a sprue of their circle-bases in 40mm square.

I also hope there's at least another body; assuming at least one more body and legs, that would give us three bodies, 4 heads, three sets of legs. should be good enough for variation.

That's such a cool model, guessing the base design allows him to take up two files in a Skeleton unit that is equipped with rat/dogs.

First head yes, second head yes, third head no, fourth head yes. I want. Yes please! If Mantic can make the models look as good as those drawings (and by recent accounts, they should be able to), I found my new KoW army!! Oh wait, I'm already into them from the angels.

scarletsquig, noticed your first post the $225 doesn't have the Abyssal Dwarf Immortal Guard. is that an accident or did they not include the restic Immortal Guard in the $225 pledge stretch goal?

Mantic is really on a roll with their kickstarted goods. The Ogres, Angels and Trolls - I've yet to be disappointed.

I'm assuming the "others" mentioned are the other variants.

I'm glad they stepped away from the sexy nuns look of the initial concept sketches. I almost wish I had gone for more than the freebies that come with my pledge.

Looks multipart - separate heads and arms?

Something looks a bit screwy with it's right hand, but other than that it looks pretty good. I also believe they are doing separate heads and arms, just like with the ogres (and I presume trolls as well)

Wondering if I should use them as Vargheists or Crypt Horrors. Vargheists aren't really as awesome as I had thought, whereas Crypt Horrors are damn awesome.

yeah his right hand pinkie finger is blending in with the palm. it's the result of the weird high contrast washed out picture (whoever has been taking their 12 days of Mantic pics needs to take a course in "how to not suck at photography")

Hmm. Even looking closely at the washed-out details, I have to say I'm now wishing I went BOGO for the paladins instead at the moment.

Still reserving final judgement for a more final sculpt, but at the moment I'm far less impressed with this one than I was for the Ogre, Troll, and Paladin concept-to-sculpt results.

Really wish i had had the cash to get into this but Mantic's previous sculpts had left me somewhat cold.

These are looking very nice. I might try and get some when they hit retail.

OK, now I feel just fine with all my KoW KS BoGo (!) selections - as always, thanks for posting that picture!

Also, so many people will be getting 3 of each (Troll, Ogre, Werewolf, etc) that they're not planning to use that I'm sure ebay will be flooded with them for a short period.

He looks pretty good, but I wish his head was bigger than his shoulder. If they did have to go with ridiculous muscles, I'd prefer they went with the Hulk's style, rather than Joe from Family Guy.
And it's odd that a creature who combines humans (legs longer and thicker than their arms) and wolves (hind legs slightly longer than their forelegs) can walk on his knuckles.

I never thought I would say this, but I wish Mantic had used more realistic proportions, like those on Privateer Press skinwolves.


But the sculpting and details are very nice.

It looks good, just not as good as the others. Still clearly following the Rackham ethos, though, which is a smart move, since their figures were so beloved, and then everything fell into gak.

Still, for those who don't like them at all, there are alternatives!

I'm still glad I'm getting the Mantic werewolves, and they do look good. It's just maddening that they settled for really quite good when, with a few small tweaks, they could have been [bleep]ing amazing.

Also, I'm kind of perplexed why the Rakham style was so beloved, if it's just about mighty mouse proportions. Someone please write me a guide.
