Yet plastic dreadnoughts are 41.25$ USD and metal venerable is 50$.

WM is cheaper being metal?

Just saying.

Plastic, fact it comes with all those kits in one = awesome.

only 5$ differential - no biggie imo - we spend much more for other things.

Not comparing to GW, just saying they're too expensive to justify a purchase for me right now.

Speaking from a purely selfish point of view, I hope the price increase on plastic fails miserably.

The last thing we need is for PP to show GW that drooling fanbois will gladly pay 25% *MORE* for plastic over metal.

You would think that the rage over non-discounted plastics (i.e. Termies, Greatswords) would have set some kind of precedent or mindshare.

But if GW sees that they can charge *more* for cheaper plastic, because that's what the market will bear, God help us all!

January's releases are up on Malefic. No confirmation of the $35 Warjack prices but the rulebook and the card decks have prices in Yen.

GW is positive hindu/buddistic (is that a word?) compared to PP.

Really? I'm pretty sure I heard exactly that kind of stuff from GW at some point. There was that story about the Redshirt who refused to acknoledge the existence of non-GW tabletop games and they only accept models which are 100% GW if you want to play in their stores.

Indeed, GW describe their games as The Hobby, instead of acknowledging their place amongst other wargames.

Posable warjacks? Clearly I left warmachine 4 years too early. Too be decided on the price though is interesting. Jacks haven't really been bastions of good value over the last few years, lets see how it goes with plastics.

I really, really, really like these models. I don't care about the cartoony look; Warmachine never aspired to anything else. They make cool, surreal metal monsters.

I'm not really fond of these, especially the Khador model.
There's barely any detail and the width of that circular saw is ridiculous.

Also, the Menoth figure looks weird in that static pose with a swinging mace. I suppose with it being plastic that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Oh christ, it's that same plastic the Starship Troopers models used, isn't it?

EURGH. I HATE that crap. It requires so much more work and doesn't accept primer as readily as any other models I've worked on, from Tamiya to GW.

The models I've painted so far have taken primer okay... Mayb eI'm doing it wrong?

Because the saws on GW models are sooo much more realistic.

Yeah, it's not as big as the torso.

I like how the Khador jack has tiny ankles and upper arms. It's funny.

Actually you've chosen a terrible example. The Deff Dread saws are far thinner but it's metal anyway.
Compare it to this instead:

Until we get new tau battlesuits we can't comment that much on tiny ankle syndrome. That giant tonka buzzsaw is a bit comical though. Definitely the weak point of the Khador model. Its too bad they didnt just follow the profile of the largescale high detail models they had been producing before.

If we don't have Tau, we can make fun of the tiny ankles all we want. It's just wierdly disproportinal.

Man just pointing that out ... makes me take a 2nd look at the khador jack... it is odd.

Proportionally, they're all armored gorillas, with stubby legs and giant shoulders & arms. This has always bothered me somewhat.

It's a design choice that implies strength and creates a recognizable profile. Practicality is usually never a concern for miniatures designers. (Aside from casting practicality that is)

Or maybe it's just the same plastic as GW. I dunno. Not really willing to drop money just to experiment and get that godforsaken plastic.

Nevermind how they stand, how do SM dreads walk...

The models are cool, but I imagine they have to waddle everywhere.
