That is a damn sweet demon prince! I'll post some pics of Lucius once I've painted him again, I've stripped the paint but he needs spraying, basing and painting!

Good job with what you have done. I know a guy at my FLGS how plays deamons and he uses a lot of bright colors for his army. Granted they are more blues, greens and reds than pink. Purple is a great color to work with, it is one of primary colors in my Tau army. Can't wait to see what else you make.

Could I see pics of this Tau army? and thanks

I'm much needing to get back to working on my painting - it's been slow.

Binky,

The following link will have pictures of my Tau army. The way it goes is that Shadow Grey, Space Wolf Grey and Liche Purple are the Primary colors. Then each FOC slot has a individual color. HQ is golden yellow, Elites is Scorpion Green (which makes my suits look like Buzz Lightyear, which was total accident), Troops are Blazing Orange, Fast Attack is Enchanted Blue, and Heavy Support is Scab Red.
In the future there is hope for bright and cheery colors.

Hopefully this will be of use to you and good luck with school and your army.

That sounds like an interesting color combo - is it more muted or bright?

Question for you, did you see all of my post? Because I just looked at it and all I got was half of the first sentence. I edited it just now and I am seeing all of it. But to answer your question I used babal black wash, so it was a muted but still a bright look to them.

Nope - I only got the first half of it. But it's fixed. And your pics look good.

EDIT: I finally got some shots of my CSM to show!

Here they are in all their cotton-candy, Slaaneshi, blinding glory! lol

Those pics were definitely worth the wait. I love your Chaos Marine color scheme - I wasn't sure about it when I saw it on the painter, but seeing it on models it just might be my favorite Chaos Marine scheme I've seen. Hope school calms down, so we can get more pretty pictures!

Those are some awesome pink bubblegum marines! The paintjob isn't overpowering and it works really well! Are you highlighting and shading them? If you are try highlighting and then giving the area a wash in it's colour to make shading, works really well for pink!

I like these. The colours go really well, and as said already aren't overpowering like some Slaaneshi models.

Glad you like the army, and very nice work on yours, they look very clean and have a good balance. They scream Slaaneshi.

Good work, i think these are your best models yet, you've definitely progressed. Do you have the whole squad done? If so show them, they look pretty cool.

Thanks for all the positive comments @ GUO I might try the highlighting tip, we'll see. And there's more on the way, cause no the whole squad is nowhere near done - just these two and my PowerFist guy. Updates this weekend for sure

I'm so impressed with how the paint scheme worked out too, and I can't take credit for it - so thank Metallifan - cause it was his awesome idea.

OT: Loving the marine, nice solid scheme and a steady hand, just keep up painting and dont get lazy like me
Still havent done any updates since the last one i posted here XD
May actually start on the prince tonight though, guess i do need to start somewhere.

also been thinking of changing my theme to Tzeentch, but an egyption undead theme.
So flaming skellies as horrors and so on.

But traitors can be swayed... 'specially by bright colors XD

Spoken too soon... I think that's my prob is I DO get very lazy. And then my army is unfinished and it bothers me... kinda like my Skulltaker whose been on the backburner for awhile - but he does have armor now... a chest plate that is very Greecian-inspired but he still needs to be painted

Egyptian undead...interesting...kinda like the Mummy?

lol, how does the dark side have bright colours?

Meh, at one point i's speedpaint a 2,000 point army over a weekend, now im lucky if i paint a single model over a week XD.
I seem to be able to paint character models for longer before i get bored and leave it to gather dust.

Nah, going for a more mythical look to them, so using concepts like anubis, horus (not the 40k one ) and other gods in the design of the army.
May have to draw up a few sketches 1st though to make sure ill like the outcome.

What? The pretty marines aren't evil? I can't answer that logically - thats why the universe collapsed when the grimdark future had color, and is no longer grimdark.

In a weekend? That's fast - so that was when in your younger glory days

Sounds cool - can't wait to see pics.

Bright colours just dont seem evil enough
Unless it works like a thunder flash and blind people

Nah, that was before i got my xbox360 and before i started getting into airsoft
Now a days i dont have the patients lol, ill start a model, then wander off to talk on the 360 or go out for a drink

Managed to basecoat it, then got bored lol, ill get the ink washes done tomorrow as base colours and possibly some drybrushing

Sounds good ^_^ Can't wait to see them! Also, binky, where did you get your name from? Is it Death's horse? It's just I'm reading Mort by Terry Pratchett and death has a horse called binky, just wondering if that's where you got the name from or it's just a coincidence ^_^

More pics this weekend - I actually got started on my skulltaker and he's almost done, just a few touch-ups and his back portion needs to be painted. He has green armour and a brilliant red cape, and boltgun metal horns with a black wash. However he is still far too bright for my liking - I believe he should be grittier - how would I achieve that over metal armour/red wash cape?

You're the second dude to mention the horse! Where can I find this book? I must read it I've heard he's a good author, but the name thing is entirely coincidental - it's just a nickname.

Looking smooth and good all around binky. I have definately enjoyed seeing improvement in the painting skills through this thread. One small note that cold help make the black show nicely on your models. A small line highlight on just th eangeld corners would help a lot try it. Don't do it around the whole thing but just where the model angles. Look forward to seeing more work good stuff.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Thanks guys!

@Empchild Highlight with what color? White is too drastic, maybe codex grey? But I think I get what you mean, on the scales and joints and muscle is where I need to hi-lite.

Again tho, how do I weather armour and cape fabric?

I really like what you have done, and I think that the advice thatt he others have given will only add to the awesomeness.
For playing purposes I would recommend (as well as a Soulgrinder or two) a unit of Horrors or Flamers of Tzeench as Daemons are a bit weak on shooting.
Also I'd like to see what you come up with for a colour scheme.
Happy modelling

For highlighting, you can mix a little white into the main paint colour and use that...

For my army I'm definately getting a Soulgrinder and perhaps some Flamers. I'm not gonna be purchasing anything for awhile 'til I get what I got already painted - mostly I'm waiting to see what the jolly fat guy has for me at Christmas.

I do have a rough list (I might even post in the army section) of what I want for a completed Daemon army.
Here it is for your viewing/criticism: (please be nice)

- 1 Skulltaker
- 10 Daemonettes
- 10 Bloodletters
- Keeper of Secrets
- Daemon Prince
- 2 Soul Grinders
- Flamers of Tzeentch
- Fiends of Slaanesh
- Seekers
- Screamers of Tzeentch
- Bloodcrushers

mixing paints now that's a novel idea... can't believe I didn't think of that... thanks (edited for spelling mistakes)

Think I was the first dude to mention the horse. Mort is one of Pratchett's earlier and therefore better books (the first 10-15 Discworld Novels are comic genius). It was also the first one I read and well worth picking up. It's about a boy called Mort who gets taken on as Death's apprentice. Unfortuantely Mort's romantic longings for a soon to be assassinated princess clash with his new responsbilities. Much hilarity ensues!
