I almost fried my keyboard with a spray of soda after reading that. Fan-freakin-tastic boss name.

As for all of the kitbashes and scratchbuilds... Wow. Just... wow. You've got a knack for keeping them interesting without looking like someone took a dollar store toy car, dunked it in glue, then rolled it through the bits box. Too many times I see people building clunky, shapeless boxes, jabbing bits on until everything is pointy, then calling it done. Although, now that I think about, that does sound rather orky... Regardless, it doesn't really make for visually appealing models. You keep it simple, but interesting and I like that.

I say Yarbles to that, and made my own.

You my hero, amigo.

GW is kinda beggin for this to happen all over the place aren't they? Two ork trucks that look the same! Would be unfluffy. Orks have always seemed like maybe the most "fun" army to play. There doesn't really seem to be anything that Orks wouldn't do or make -- so why not?

I don't have an Ork army because I don't like their little chimp legs, but the crazy, eccentric vehicles have always appealed to me. What the heck is a grot fighta -- what does it count as? Don't know, but no one would really be all that surprised to see them.

Your army is pure win. Makes me want to "go green."

10k pts Eldar (no jetbikes -- how is that possible?)

2k pts 3rd edition Wolves (no werewolves or clifford cavalry -- but I do have a nifty Leman Russ Exterminator shaped paperweight)

3k pts chaos marines

That warbuggy is sweet! With all the grot tanks and such you might want to look into the rules in IA8 for ork mech armies. It looks like a fun army and loads of room for conversion ideas, and 1/2 the stuff you have already build looks like stuff from that list.

I must say that I'm really impressed how cheap and good looking your tank was.

And for the others, good work!

I have/work on these: Army and SOG of and a tiny group of (killzone) and some and last some and a gang of Cryx + Others...

hey all.
sorry to bump an old thread, but i got some good feedback on my tips for producing armies with as little money as possible, so in that vein, here is a simple empire army I made from a single box of Militia and a few bits from the trusty bits box;

The army consists of a unit of 10 hand gunners, 10 swordsmen and a captain. to buy an army this sized from gw would cost 38 pounds. It cost me 18 pounds to make. I also used the sprues to make cheap movement trays.

No need to apologize, I agree completely, I actually started it as a Killa Kan, but when compared to a SM dred, i realized that it was far too big, So i use it as a Deff Dred. I have been looking at ways to add some more "arms" but there isnt really enough space.

First off, your stuff is kick@$$!!! I wish my kitbashed stuff looked this clean!

Anyway onto the point. In answer to the "arms" question regarding the dreadnought/kan thing you have going, I might suggest using the wreckin' ball(s) from trukk kits and attaching them as over the shoulder DCCW for your kan/dread. If you got a claw like you molded for the tank, and then a wreckin' ball, that would look pretty sweet I think. Add a few extra bitz to conceal any sort of awkward lines etc and I think it will be good to go. If the chain attached to the ball part of the wreckin ball is too restrictive, you could cut that off and use string, wire, or guitar string to fashion a sort of winch or rope and allow for some more freedom of movement and to get some distance. If you like the idea, let me know!

Im not sure what more you need to know. There is a tutorial on youtube you can follow if you like. its not the same way i did it, but it should help you out. The trick is just to make sure that your mould is completely dry and to lubricate the green stuff you put in it so that it comes out easily.

That is a good idea, and it did occur to me, but unfortunately i only had one wrecking ball and i used that on the second grot-tank.

Thanks guys for all the great feedback!

All of these scratchbuilds are just practice though as im now gonna start work on a scratchbuilt stompa.

Ive seen some really really impressive ones out there, and some pretty dreadful ones, so im not too worried about it being amazing, but ill have fun trying.

Wish me luck and watch this space!
