What can this game system be compared to? the models look great, the terrain clip system seems pretty solid. I maybe interested in starting this up.

Its fairly different than most of the major things in the market. Instead of dice you use a 54 car deck (jokers). They use their own special decks, but they are direct analogs of a standard deck. (4 suits, 13 cards per suit, 2 jokers). It is a I activate a unit, you activate a unit style of game.
As for the Terraclips. The good news is that the terrain is generic enough to be used for many types of games. It would even work in WHFB, as a 6" wide terrain piece can hold almost any unit in the game.
I believe you can download the rulebook for free from the website, but the PDF is locked to prevent copy/paste and Print. But if you want a feel for the game you can do that.
Also, if you want to test out the game, the bases are simple circules, and the height figure gives you a height (not perfect, but good enough for playtests). You can make some simple tubes with pictures of the figures to test them out. I even have a blank template over on the forums I posted. All you have to do is copy/past into the ppt to get a tube.

Either a CCG with a pulse, or when PP first started out, with thier four or five basic boxed sets, then started slowly adding in the other stuff.
The game is pretty personal in its playstyle. You get to really get in depth into the games.
That interwoven story that has been running through the books doesn't hurt either. ( theres small snippets of a long drawn out story about the faction characters and how they inter relate, and thier mindsets that continuly evolves through the website, the rulebook, and the new book, as well.
There is some realy deep dark stuff out there in the wierd west...

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

No their art and sculpting style has changed fairly dramastically in the past 6 months and its something that I'm not perticullary a fan of.
The Avatar rules are clumsy and pointless.

Agreed regarding Puppet Wars. Not a successful venture at all in my mind.
As for the above: IMO, the terraclips are pretty substandard. The old Mordheim card buldings are much better because of how they incorporate the plastic. I understand that the ability to change the terrain up is a selling point for the terraclips, but I think they'd have had a more successful product had they gone with Mordheim style ones with plastic windows, corners, etc.

Puppet wars could have been great, early concepts of the game were awsome, quick, fun and easy to play. Through the iterations it turned into a complicated mess.
If I was a company looking to put out paper terrain I would have gone and found whatever group of people created the GW paper terrain and demanded they made me some. From what I've seen Terraclips isn't selling well, atleast in my area.
Now don't get me wrong, Malifaux is still one of my favorite games

Some things I love, others leave me cold.
Terraclips looks an interesting concept, but the coverage of a single pack, and having to buy the clips seperately kind of puts me off
I think guys up the club play it. I think I might give it a whirl. Though my pathlogical aversion to Steampunk might continue to put me off, even if not all the gangs/whatever include it.

1.) They contacted the currently best selling paper terrain company, World Works to do it. And I am satisfied with the result.
2.) The first run sold out immediately, so sales haven't been that bad.
3.) Puppet's War doesn't interest me. With the other miniatures it is like this: Some fractions inspire me, some not at all. Now I am waiting for those that interest me.

There are some gems among this months releases, but some duds too. I have waited some time for Rogue necromancy and it is looking so bland to be unholy mixture of resurrected body parts. The arcanist releases look really good though especially the Female gunsmith and mechanical rider. Kaeris gets special mention as it looks light, which is hard to achieve with figs.

Every sculpt I can think of has been an exact copy of the artwork from Rising Powers, so not really sure what you're getting at there.
Haven't seen Twisting Fates yet, so I can't be sure on the Avatar stuff, but I'm leaning towards your opinion as well. Would have preferred to just have new masters instead. Now I'm hearing rumors that book 4 will not have new masters either, but possibly a few henchman. Think that's kinda lame too, if true.
Puppet Wars is terrible.
I don't get terraclips at all either, and would never buy it. We are modelers, damnit, 3d terrain is the only way to go.

If you buy all boosters and you manage to sell the game box contents ( except the exclusive puppets) then its a god deal.

Dammit, dammit, dammit! Why did I have to go and actually read this thread after skipping over it for so long? It's bad enough I've got a Teddy ordered, but I'm not really looking to get into a new game or collection of minis, as much as Malifaux has tempted me. With all this sweet stuff coming out, I may not have a choice though.

Do it, you won't be disappointed with the minis. As for the game, I've only played it twice and really enjoyed the change of pace from 40k. I use it as a filler for when I have a need for something fresh.
