This was my thought too, I already ordered my Sewer set some time ago from thewarstore, and I did not buy a pack of clips. Ugh, just ugh. I swear it said it came with a pack of connectors... I admit, I'm irked about this.

I should point out that this decision does not appear to have been made by Wyrd, but rather by the terrain makers, World Works Games. For those interested in how this was addressed, the thread on their forums that Kroot linked earlier pretty much became consumed with the issue of not having clips in the sets.

For people that pre-ordered, you might want to make an account over there to pipe up.

Personally, I find the idea pretty foolish, especially given that the original solicitations apparently claimed that the packages would contain clips.

I was on the fence regarding the product with my only concern being whether or not the clips themselves will scratch the cardboard when I disassemble. However, the lack of included clips is a terrible oversight; this alone will hurt reviews, sales, and overall opinion of the product.

The product is advertised as $49, but the actual cost is $67. When I buy a model from another game system, I already have tons of glue, paint, and other materials at home. However, this product requires a special clip in order to function as advertised. Therefore, nobody is going to have extra clips just lying around the apartment.

I really advise Wyrd and Worldworks to sell this product for the $67 it is. It'll alleviate the problems associated with customer ignorance when they forget to buy clips with their first purchase. It'll cause retailers problems because their distributors never told them about this issue. It'll cause customers problems when they order online. It'll simply cause problems.

Looking at earlier preorder images of the product, they're advertised as includining "one combo pack of clips":
http://fullmetalplanet.biz/shop/wyrd/images/2010-07/rtc101.jpg
http://fullmetalplanet.biz/shop/wyrd/images/2010-07/rtc102.jpg
http://fullmetalplanet.biz/shop/wyrd/images/2010-07/rtc103.jpg
The people that preordered are going to be unhappy knowing they have to pay an extra $18 to derive any use out of their order.

It's not even the price rise that's the problem. It's the requirement of an extra product that will cause problems.

EDIT: Unflattering photographs from the Malifaux forums:
http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/showpost.php?p=260176&postcount=78
http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/showpost.php?p=260739&postcount=105
Personally, I think it looks awful, but that may only be the individual's construction ability. It seems they used a full box of clips yet didn't have enough for that standard layout.

I love Wyrd and everything they do, but this product is in for a rough start.

Those are counters. Similar to Infinity, Malifaux utilizes 25mm-base-sized counters to signify corpses, scrap piles, treasures, dynamite, walls of fire, and various other events that happen in the game. It's a blessing that these counters are flat and not textured because gameplay allows you to walk your models on top of these counters.

Yes I agree great for counters but they said:

Are you making these as well?
I would buy a malifaux counter set the second it went up.

You caught our little secret bonus. We've included Malifaux tokens in every set which match the underlying terrain textures. There's even blank token punch outs that you can use for basing your miniatures so that they match the terrain.

The neat thing about them is that they are general enough to be used in other games as well.

Meh.

That stuff is much to do about nothing.

Love malifaux, HATE the schlock cut outs.

Serious question is to just tell them to pack it and just get yourself some of the print and paste stuff that is out there on line FOR FREE.

60-70 bones for cut outs? Are you kidding me?

That set doesn't make enough excuses for sloppy execution.

The figures are amazing, the game a side order of awesome sauce, why does it take some jackasery to pee on your shoes over some cutouts?

Those sets arn't even that good, I can do better with styro and some balsawood.

1.) I am not aware of really good free prints out there. Some are free, but they are mediocre at best.
2.) The designer World at Works sells pdf's for years for reasonable prices.
3.) If you get the cardboard into your printer, it is not nearly sturdy enough, simple as that. You need to buy balsa, glue, print paper, print colour and need hours of cutting and assembly.

These boxes are a major improvement for RPG and skirmish games, for people who want a atmospheric plug and play terrain.
Guess one reason for this packaging was that clips are already an existing product, you need less clips than terrain, and that including clips to a stack of cardboard sheets is kind of awkward packagewise.

The design was 3 years or so of jacking around and chasing tail.

Free time? hardly. I can do it on my computer, or if you want tactile 3d stuff, as in Virdune bits, polystyrine, and plaster, thats going to cost you.

My sets can go for 3-400 bucks, tops.

Seriously though? If you want to DIY, you can do it big. 10 bucks tops for the materials, a couple of hours for the build.

The stuff is out there for you to print off the texture, the cardstock or heavy cardboard paneling, and you can cut and paste them for perminent or in sections for trading around and building in your own fashion.

Not going to take you much more then standard 3d scenery tools, elmers glue, and cardstock.

Those sets are ok, if you want to pay 60 bucks or so for them, but if your on a slim dime, my way is better. Those of us in the know know how its done.

I think Wyrd's art style has really taken a hit with the new book and it translates into the models.

Besides Sonnia I don't really like any of it, it looks very amateur.

I think they all look awesome! In fact, my only gripe is...where are the Bayou Gremlins? How could they leave my faction out?

I never really liked Marcus before, but his avatar form is just hideous.

Also, there are concepts of how the Alternative and Avatar forms of Lilith and Rasputina are going to look:
http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22838

Rather strange that they're releasing an Avatar of Kirai, a recent character. Either way, I guess Lilith and Rasputina are in the 'second wave' of Avatars. I hope these alternative models come with alternative rules; Hamelin already has two forms.

I am still learnng, but the game looks like a small RPG if you take the background material and scenarios seriously.
And maybe Deadlands is not that far off.

Their covers, title pages, and the black and white doll sketches have always been borderline amateur looking. I'm not really seeing a change there, but then I think most of these models are quite good.

I asked about it on the forums once, and even emailed someone (N. Caroaland, IIRC) and received responses along the lines of "We can't really discuss any products that may or may not be coming out, but keep you eyes on the forum."
I can't get to Wyrd from work, and my home internet time tends to be spotty, outside of certain obligations. So, I don't get on their forums as much as I'd like. When I do get there, though, I can't find any discussion of an RPG. Not even people asking for one.

Presuming they have one, I'd like to be in the beta for it, like I was with the release of the 2nd book.

Finally. I've been waiting for Kaeris since the second book came out.

I question that "29" as well. I don't recall anything by that name. The closest resemblance I could find is a new Desolation Engine.
It's likely something new from the third book.
