Yes, quite.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Miners not only because I need them, but they're likably generic for once. The only complaint I have against Malifaux is that all their characters look like characters at times. When everyone is special, then nobody is special.

The Union Miners are great in spite of the mild plumber's crack.

I'm really disappointed with both of the Resurrectionist releases. The alt McMourning is a huge step backwards when compared to the calm but menacing looking original. And I don't understand how they managed to make the Avatar look so static, it's supposed to be a hulking flesh crafted deathmachine. This one looks like a statue.

Wyrd seems to be moving away from the style they had with the releases from first two books and towards the same looking cartoony style that has been done before by PP and GW. I think it is time for me to move on towards other games for my paint something different minis as these look like to be more of the same as the other games I'm playing.

While I agree that Wyrd may be dabbling too far into the cartoony/goofy look of PP and such, it's always had hints of this.

McMourning himself and most of the Resurrectionist models associated with him have always had the caricature-look.

That being said, the Union Miners are still awesome.

I agree Absolutionis with the cartoony, but the latest models have more of the chubby heroic proportions, while the earlier models, like the original McM, are more realistically proportioned.

I am just sad that they are loosing their originality in the sculpts at least in my eyes.

All the alts have a little bit of a cartoony look for me. The only one that I like over the original is Justice.

That said, the quality of Wyrd sculpts is always top-notch!

I think some of the paintjobs don't do the a few of those models any favors.

As always with wyrd miniatures hit or miss. They are either great or terrible.

the union miners and the 2 horse riders are fantastic.

Simulicrum looks like the human centipede's cousin.

I've generally found that the paintjobs turn Malifaux sculpts from very average to good looking if anything.

The Mali forums are a good place to start.

Many of the starter boxes are good (though a few aren't, because they're either not as good for the masters, or too complex for beginners), and usually a box, a couple blisters, and the mini rulebook will get you a reasonably good start to the game.

The mini rulebook is free online (with some areas removed). It'll give you a sense of the rules, but, for everything I love about Wyrd, they do a pretty spectacular time making the rules look more complex than they are (i.e. once you understand, it's pretty intuitive).

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I think the new Terraclips are GORGEOUS. I need them, I need them all... But I don't have money! August? Good, I'll save up all my work moneys that don't go towards gas/car insurance.... Well, maybe I don't need the essentials, they're not as cool as the other two.

Edit: It's funny, I was recently wishing for Terraclips fit for Fantasy games, since the sewer seems out of place.

Holy gak that is an awesome username. Please tell me your army is called Kabal of the Fragile Breath. Morathi's Darkest Sin has some competition here for best handle, I think.

I've been waiting for this avatar for awhile, I love the idea of the Dreamer just being a little kid. What kid didn't treat his bed as a ship, or some other sort of vessel which he could ride forth into battle?

Such a good idea. I know it was said in the other thread about the eye being sculpted a bit on the back of the mini, but I doubt it... hard to tell with pics, but it doesn't look like it has any depth to it.

Basically, he's a hapless guard grunt who got tricked in to being stuck in a robot (to power its AI), regained his consciousness, escaped, and is now on the run as a merc.

Very Robocop (among other things).

The model will likely be around termie size or a bit larger, steampunk cobbled together robot, with a multi-barrel gun.

Thanks, sounds pretty cool. Will it be a fully plastic model? I don' remember seeing anything about Wyrd doing plastic models, but there it is next to the model's name...

Yep, questions abound. Wyrd started doing resin with the last book's bigger pieces, and now they're breaking in to plastic, it seems. No definitive answer that I've heard about what sort of plastic.

A summary courtesy of seekerco on www.rm40k.com :

So I just listened to a podcast interview with Eric J from Wyrd. He spilled a lot of beans on what is on the horizon. If you like to find things out as they come out then read no further.

Book 4 – introduces a new faction (yes a new faction). Based on Ten Thunders.

They will be doing campaign packs that contain story encounters and miniatures to fit. One of the first with deal with Molly.

Malifaux 1.5 rulebook. The original rulebook with the rules updated to from the rules manual and the V2 cards updated in the back.

Plastic Malifaux decks and Foil decks for tournaments.

Plastic miniatures.

Gencon news – Nightmare editions of Eric and Nathan from Wyrd. Also 70 to 80% of the miniatures from Book 4 will be available for purchase at that time.

If you are a Puppet Wars fan or have thought about picking up the game but didn't like the price they are redoing the whole thing with plastic miniatures and giving you all the miniatures you ever need plus lowering the price.

Eric said they new phrase at Wyrd is more great Wyrd stuff at a cheaper price (Did you hear that GW?).

Super excited.

Hmm :/ too bad I picked up the metal Puppet Wars. I felt they'd work nicer in plastic.

I'm skeptical about the additional faction, but interested.

The rest of that's good news, though.

My only real doubt is that it could turn into Asianstereotypesandclichésland, the Faction, though Wyrd has a pretty good track record.
