Frankly I have no bloody idea, the whole idea is just stupid, I mean think about it.
One Universe is full of vibrant varied characters and settings, all centered around a millennia spanning saga concerning a near omnipotent regent whose gambit to defeat the gods of chaos is ruined when their OWN BELOVED FLESH AND BLOOD becomes a corrupted harbinger of the demonic. That's some heavy stuff there.
The other, as far as I can tell used to be about that, but is now just creepy corporate-driven adolescent power fantasy about fancy boys in power armor.
You get an exalt.

Funny, I get the same idea from a lot of 40K players. Or gamers, in general. It is what it is, nerd hobbies are basically for nerdy people, and nerdy people are generally not all that great at the social interaction thing.

Nope. I have grown to hate fedoras, and hata in general. It all just seems to be used by those who don't wear clean decent clothes or cut their hair to appear professional.
Hotsauce, I truly appreciate when you say stuff like this. My roommates and I laugh our asses off when this kind of comment gets typed onto the screen. Seriously. Don't ever change.

Why do I have a sudden need to wear a bowler hat?
I dunno, a little more color in the old 40k may open it to untapped markets.
I think it was a missed opportunity for the Eldar to have a rainbow cannon.
They were originally space pirates, they could have been "pixie pirates" and been done with it.
Oh, no, I had a horrible thought about AM/ IG "Rough Riders"...

timetowaste85 wrote:Well, if there's a girl who likes transformers, you can safely bet that there is a male figure in her life who she looks up to who has had an interest in it, and she wanted to do what he was doing, and became attached as well. My sister did it, only with xmen. I've always been a huge xmen junkie, and my sister wanted to be like me and got really into them (and other super heroes) growing up.
So wait, you seriously believe women never get into that kinda stuff unless there's a man in their life that was into it first? First of all I like that you've come to this conclusion and decided that, with your sample size of one, this is how the female mind just works (and you don't even need a PhD, impressive). That's more than a little insulting, though, it's like suggesting that women aren't really capable of independent thought, because without a dad, older brother, or boyfriend that's into comics, games, etc. then they wouldn't have developed any interest in them on their own, and would have defaulted to more "girlie" pursuits instead.
Personally I think gender doesn't have much to do with it. If you were an older sister instead of an older brother she probably still would have wanted to emulate you because you're someone important in her life that she looks up to.
Why did you get into superheroes, anyway? Was it because you genuinely decided they were cool or were you likewise just trying to emulate your dad or some other older male figure in your life, and thus the decision was kinda made for you? If you made up your own mind and decided that superheroes were just cool (and judging from your avatar I'd say it carried on into adult life as well) then why is it hard to believe that a woman could do the same?
timetowaste85 wrote:I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that most 18-40 year old men didn't sit down and decide to emulate their 4 year old sisters, daughters or nieces. Because that's creepy. It would mean a part of their brain didn't grow correctly and they're stunted.
I don't really get the "brony" thing either, and couldn't begin to explain it, but I'm pretty sure that's not what's going on. Especially the ones sexualizing them as 4-year-olds clearly don't draw pony porn.
Just curious, though, would it be "creepy" if someone's 4-year-old nephew looked up to a female superhero like Black Widow?
timetowaste85 wrote:Also, any more images of Space Marines murdering MLP characters? The tears of bronies everywhere as Twilight Dumb gak gets her lungs ripped out by a chainsword please me...
...yeah, speaking of "creepy", the way some people are taking this "ponies in 40k" thing so seriously is starting to creep me out.
Yeah, we get it, it doesn't belong, it's "HERESY, blargh, purge it!", but some people seem to be getting really worked up over it and I don't get why. I saw all those images on the previous page and I just think it's funny, and some of them look like they're clearly meant to be jokes and not a serious effort to try and push the idea that a 40k/MLP crossover is actually something that should happen. Personally I think Crimson Devil called it earlier in the thread, I think it's a case of people feeling insecure about their hobbies in the first place and not wanting to be seen with "those" kinds of people for fear of vindicating the ones giving them grief.

That's alright, I don't understand how a TV show about friendship and Magic rainbows designed for 4 year old girls became a thing for creepy 18-40 year old men, but hey. Weird people happen every day.
I have no idea either, my experience a bunch of them come across as creepy. :/
Maybe this is news to you, maybe not, but the vast majority of us come off as being just as creepy. People view your modeling and wargaming hobby as if it were exactly the same as this "brony" thing, and think that there's something wrong with you for "playing with toys" in your adult life (because they can't differentiate between a modeling hobby and a kid bashing two Transformers together...feth, even GW themselves can't). And considering we're all hanging out at stores where little kids will naturally be spending just as much time as us older guys it makes us all look kinda suspicious.

Personally I find most fandom crossovers pretty tacky, no more so when it's a pony thing although I have found bronies to be more...persistent about it. I've only met two in real life but both of them were pretty hard-core about it, they both wore the clothes (one of them wore steampunk goggles and a fedora too), carried pony toys or had them on keychains etc and made a point of bringing up ponies every other conversation. Just felt like they were trying really hard to let everyone know they were bronies.
They can do whatever they want though, I'm pretty indifferent to what they choose to draw or crossover.
The porn is horrifying though. But the depths of a lot of subcultures get really weird, someone once explained the Supernatural fandom and what they get up to to me and I wish I'd never heard what I heard that day.

Seriously, It went from two brothers hunting with hints at something bigger, like Xfiles
To a four way between 4 male characters, other be damned, in which every episode is about demons or angels.

There really is not any reason why the fandoms have to fight. As has been mentioned earlier, we both exist on the internet and are popular with college age kids so that generates a supposed conflict of interest. People create a false dichotomy between fandoms that they follow, for example Homestuck and Hetalia had one going for a long time before they decided to be moirails (friends). People can have enough time to follow multiple series and fandoms with the same levels of interest. I follow the WH40K, MLP, Homestuck, and various anime fandoms and do not find any conflict between them.
The complaints about the sexualisation of the show are valid complaints but are not a problem specific to the MLP fandom. Fan are has always had its fringe elements from people that could sexualise a sandwich, but in the world of the internet, these fringe elements are brought to the fore. WH40K even has its questionable content that can be found with a quick google search.
Crossovers have existed for a long time. Characters from multiple series meeting is not new to the brony fandom. People write crossovers because they have interests in multiple things and they feel like it would be fun to stick them together. If the pony fanfics come across as more prominent, it is probably because the fandom is huge and there are some really good stories out there.
@timetowaste85
My sister is into Superhero comics. She follows the Marvel universe and can spout trivia like crazy. Neither I, nor any other role model introduced the series to her, I can barely understand her when she talks about it. She got into it when she watched Iron man and decided that she wanted to know more, because girls are capable of making decisions for themselves.

Hell, something that's 80% likely is something I'd feel safe betting on. I never said it was impossible for a girl to get into transformers of super heroes unless she had a male role model or serious boyfriend into them. Jeez. Safe bet=strong likelihood. Safe bet=/=100% guarantee. Don't start putting words in my mouth and attacking me for them. I'd like to assume you're better than that.

I dunno, I think the Imperium could have use for little, Jokaero sized horses that don't seem to get possessed by Daemons when using Psychic Powers and are adept at blasting away spirits of Chaos.
The Inquisition is nothing if not pragmatic, after all. I'm sure they could find a use for a horse that can shoot beams of magic out of it's forehead, or control the weather.

Unless you were referencing pinkie pie, the character that keeps the cartoon light. I can see an inquisitor shooting her out of an airlock. Though she'd probably get back in via something important, and cause the cruiser to crash.

I don't think anyone needs to know that answer...
In all seriousness about MLP and 40k, I'm sure it's a ton of people trying to get a rise out of the "Serious Bidness" gamers, because it's fun sometimes. Personally, I hate the show, because a few friends for over a year badgered me to watch it, and I got a headache from watching it and was feeling the need to hit someone with a chairleg. The bright colors and annoying voices bothered me, and being color blind, it looks like bullocks to me, because it's made with a specific color scheme in mind, and I don't see it. But, that's me. Like what you like, I don't care. It does nothing to effect myself or anyone else I know. Just don't shove it down everyone's throats.

Such is the key to everything. As long as you don't shove it down everyone's throats, and it isn't highly illegal, nobody (worth caring about) cares about what you do or like. Like tiny, carton horses? Don't shove it down everyone's throat, and nobody will care. Like 40k? Don't shove it down everyone's throats, and nobody will think you are some you showered basement dweller.

Isn't it great how like, everyone ignores that rule? It's awful. It's also funny how people are surprised when someone doesn't follow all of the, I guess stereotypical behavior that their appearance/actions might suggest. "Wait, you play D&D? How? You don't look like a loser" it's weird, I've gotten that a couple times before.

That picture is just great. Very evocative. Love it.

A God of chaos who turns friends against each other! Unless you were referencing pinkie pie, the character that keeps the cartoon light. I can see an inquisitor shooting her out of an airlock. Though she'd probably get back in via something important, and cause the cruiser to crash.
Clearly you did not see the obvious attempts to bait the Inquisitor into something rash.
Now the pony has him where she wants him... stay tuned!
I think noise marines would properly appreciate them in my opinion, good trips to be had there.
DE would look at them as "desert".
Daemons would flee in terror before them.
Grey Knights would be highly irritated by them, extremely so if they could admit that feeling.
My kids are 9 and 10 dark is a common seasoning in cartoons lately from what I have seen, they would be odd without.
So why not tap into the ultimate grim-dark to hurt people's eyes and brains with the contrast?
