Just got back from seeing it with the family. Loved it - it's a comedy disguised as a superhero film. Good performances all round, especially from Hemsworth and Blanchett. Jeff Goldblum's a hoot too.

Looking forward to seeing it again next week with friends.

Just went to see it. Movie was entertaining, though I thought the comedy didn't quit work in places. Still, I liked it.

I think Taika Waititi agreed, but there's a sad shortage of Freddy Mercury these days.

I really enjoyed it - much better than the other Thor films. I really only bothered with the first one because it was necessary setup for Avengers, and the second one was just ... pointless.

Absolutely cracking film.

Humour is solid, and doesn’t feel forced, nice to have conversational humour rather than simply Chandleresque one liners.

One review did say that some of the more serious scenes were undermined by the jokes, and I can see what they meant. It's a minor flaw, though, and it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the film at all.

Good to see the director giving himself one of the best parts.

Whole thing was just joyous!

Cate Blanchett is my stand out as Hela. Just absolutely superb, with a suitable slice of cheese and ham in her talent sandwich for this film.

Whilst it’s not completely perfect, it’s a brilliant film which could all too easily have come out far too camp. That’s no mean feat balancing comedy and drama. Can’t wait to add it to my collection.

Just please tell me they kept in the line about the friend from work. After hearing the background of where that line came from, it more than deserves to be in the movie. For those who didn’t hear the background, it was basically from a kid who had cancer who said that it should be in the movie.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yeah, it's there. It's expanded a bit as well from what we saw in the trailer. That whole arena sequence was great.

Also....Jeff Goldblum is absolutely superb.

He’s not in a great deal of the film, but when he is he totally shines.

Watched it Friday and really enjoyed - its a great fun ride, not the very best Marvel have done but very very good.

Its interesting how different some of the preview shots end up being in the movie - eg the location for the first meeting between Hela and Thor/Loki is different.

Everyone seems to be having great fun making, suprisingly high death toll given the light tone of the film.

The stone guy is very cool.

Towards the end, it did feel a bit like "Okay, subversion's coming in three, two...." but when they worked, they were brilliant. Like Banner's jump onto the bridge. Overall, really enjoyed it, and I liked the little details like the rock guy (who was the first antagonist Thor ever fought in the comics, and who then came back for the Planet Hulk arc)--and I'm fairly sure that was a statue of Gladiator (the X-Men antagonist) on the arena walls.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Korg was an interesting character, being both hilarious yet highlighting not only a problem with the movie but a bigger problem with the MCU overall.

There's a lot of pathos in the MCU, or there would be if they didn't stop undercutting it with one-liners. Korg was symptomatic of this, especially at the end of the film.

No MCU film has been as relentlessly quippy as Age of Ultron (thank God), but it seems that Mavel's success with their very funny humour has mutated to the point where now everything must have a one-liner lest things get serious (let alone too serious).

Cap seems mostly immune from this, thankfully, and I'm hoping Black Panther will as well, but I'm worried that with Iron Man, Star Lord, Ant-Man, Drax, Rocket, Thor and Spider-Man all on screen in Infinity War that it's going to become too much.

As for Korg, he had what is simultaneously my favourite and most hated line in the film:

"I'm made of rock, so you only have to be afraid if you are made out of scissors!"

(Or words to that effect)

It's a very funny line, made even funnier by Taika's delivery, but it's also awful and SOD breaking. Even if we accept that a Kronan knows what scissors are, why would it know of an Earth game like that?

I definitely clocked Beta Ray Bill's likeness

Did feel Skurge was a little underused. When he was up he was great, but it wasn't all that often. As one of my faves, Karl Urban deserves more. Especially more Dredd. ALL THE DREDD.

Still, hopefully we'll see him in future films.

One last thing?
Spoiler:
Yeah, spoiler tags because this is pretty big info....the deaths of the Warriors Three happened way too quickly. Two of them barely got a lick in when Hela got home. That's my main disappointment

Still an absolutely cracking film! And not long until Homecoming is out on home media in the UK. Woooo!

I thought it was absolutely terrific. I always thought Thor was pretty lame in the comics but he's been very solid in the MCU.

I would say at least once the comedy did undermine a scene though - as mentioned, the Banner jump. It would have been cooler if they had played it straight.

I assumed they were spoofing the similar scene in the original Hulk movie.

On thinking about it, one thing I did like is how
Spoiler:
Thor has evolved as a character over the three movies--he starts off as a spoiled brat in the first, and though he keeps the brashness and love of a fight, he's learned restraint and leadership, and grown into a worthy heir to Odin. As he points out, he's moved on while Loki was still stuck in the same chronic backstabber / daddy issues rut.

Spoiler:
Its one of those things meant to further establish how much of a threat Hela is. The 'lovable' sidekicks are easily dispatched rather than being able to put up any sort of fight, but hey at least Hogun actually got to do something for once. Oh and I guess Sif was somewhere else? I didn't really note her absence while watching the film, but afterwards I was like "Hey wait..."

Also, Skurge was rather under used, I would have like more of him. I was pleased they atleast paid homage to the Gjallerbru scene.

I thought it was great. Definitively one of top might be top 3. With cap 2 and civil war and gotg being the only ones that come out ahead if they do at all. It's basically a 3-4 way tie for favorite marvel film.

It was also a nice character moment for Loki.

Spoiler:
Because up till then, he's won. He's triumphed over the father he wanted to prove himself to, and has become ruler of Asgard with nobody any the wiser. And then....well, looks like he didn't really have a plan for once he'd accomplished all that.

Absolutely.

It does have its flaws here and there. But it hits all the important beats for me. And that was most definitely one of them.

Also, the ‘sit’ moment with that Dragon thing.

Just saw the film....

Main question, no Balder?

He's kinda a big part of the whole Ragnarok thing...

Overall review: It was pretty good, Tessa Thompson was very good but it's been way, way, way overhyped.

Post movie spoiler comments.

Spoiler:
Yeah, the whole Warriors 3 thing was rubbish. It's like if a villain turned up in a Batman movie, then in 5 seconds, rounded up Robin, Gordon and Alfred then executed them.
Bruce then doesn't even notice they're dead, nor comment on them for he rest of the movie.
I don't understand why they couldn't have just joined with Heimdall's resistance and been the various people protecting the civilians at the end.

I do agree that some of the humour didn't land right. - A lot of it did though. The worst one though was near the end when Asgard is destroyed and we have that stupid 'foundations' joke. Asgard has been one of the most gorgeously designed locations in the Marvel universe. Maybe, for me at least, one of the top locations in film and tv (as a sidenote, Minas Tirith is number 1). Its destruction should have been a tragic, dramatic moment... The destruction of an ancient civilisation and so on...

It was a gag.

Saw the movie last night. Enjoyed it, but felt they went a little overboard with the humor. Kinda felt like they overcompensated for how serious The Dark World was. I found myself really wanting to know more about Hela, the brief snippets of her background were interesting but not enough to really flesh her out. Certain scenes in the beginning could have been a little longer, some important stuff happens that feels a little rushed. Solid movie, enjoyed it a lot more than either Homecoming or Guardians 2.

It'd make sense for it to be...

There's no way Loki wouldn't have grabbed the tesseract on the way out of the room. Naturally Thanos was looking for it. I imagine he probably kidnaps Loki with it, then leaves.
