Wicked scouts and oh my wicked death watch marine. I like neck guard. Very cool. Any chance of a reference pic next to a standard power armoured marine.

@Pdh thanks pete neck guard is terminator hood thing , sorry i forgot to take a pic against normal marines , though you can see him next to a regular ig guy who although is more true scale is actually the same size as aregular space marine

Sooo, being having a play today with some ideas for the liliith coven , made up some nice inspirational reference sheets for myself , and then did some blue tacking

I tried top create The Lillin , the three dauters of Lillitu, I wanted to use the mythology that i had researched but also wanted to incorporate a human / space marine geanology , along with a healthy does of slannesh ruinous gifts

I am particullarly proud of the Marilith , as i thought creating a marilith would be tricky to do with the tiny deamonette bodies . But also like their father the tormented Brother Samael. I thought a Harpy and a spider woman shelobby type thing would also make good archetypes too.

@monkey thanks mate, i am rwally enjoying my reseach into this mini project , i think a escher gang will come out of this as as well as two more harpies if i can find some gargoyle wings and at least one more spider arachne. i have beeng adding more research links to the original post as i find them.

had a cool idea to make a map of the under hive where these hail from , i think it might incorporate some of my reseacrh too.

Those guys are looking fantastic! Always really impressed with the amount of research that you put into a new project. Have you considered using the Spyrer ruleset though? Seems like it might fit them a little bit better than Escher...

They look mean enough to be a bad thing to run across even with a Bolter or heavy stubber! They exude slaaneshi speed and agility.

The first three are cool. I'm liking the four armed one the most. Did you buy a load of Predator toys in bulk?

I'm not convinced by the fourth model I'm afraid. She looks like she is taking a poop from a great height. Lets see BS3, long range -1 to hit. The target is in the open. So that will be a 5 to hit. If you hit the target he doesn't take damage just a vomit test. lol.....if you roll a 6 you have to take an ammo test to see if she's run out of ammo or maybe her sphincter is jammed.

So that's not the pin to fix her to the base?! Is Neil going to sculpt a more splattering texture on top of the diarrhoea stream?
Idk Peter, it doesn't look like she's taking a poop imo, but I agree with you, the pin is too high and her pose is too static to look airborne.
I'd change that, but considering the great poses Neil gave his recent scouts, I'm confident, that once she is past the bluetack stage, she will look good. Right Neil?...

@ hey scarper cheers . The spyere ruleset would be perfect for these, but i dont plan on actually doing any proper ruleset gaming with just a bit of fun with the boys probably.
i also want to create a regular escher gang and a , slightly corrupted escher gang or jsut mix em up a bit.

@pdh hey Peter , the pred toys were Rohans , i keep reusing them . the fourth one has being changed , she was only a place holder really, infact they all are place holders untill i start work on them proper. i like to get my research done before commiting to any pose. and i only had a cursery idea for these guys. but i might just do her taking a dump now for the hell of it holy crap... incomming..... crap !!

@sageheart Aye up mate ,thanks though i am pretty sure the poses will change when i come to green stuff em. I haev had a few thoughts on colour , i am really tempted to goo all pinks and purples becuase they will be fun to paint , but i ma pretty sure i will end up doing a grimdark version, pale whites and dark purple goth style.
but i am also tempted to paint them up individually , so i can get the best of both.

So i have manged to do a bit more research into the harpies. Instead of having one i will have three. Just like in the mythology I am really feeling the greek mythology comming through with this project. and its plenty fun doing the research too. if you missed it , i have all the links i have related to this project on the previous page and reproduced here


So it turn out there are three Harpies from antiquity . Aello ("storm swift") - Celaeno ("the dark") — also known as Podarge ("fleet-foot") - and Ocypete ("the swift wing").

i thought i would try to recrate these whilst paying attention to their names , still all wip , but crits most welcome

Nice, the one coming in for the kill with the gargoyle wings is cool, and the last one which has landed is convincing.

You know what I really like about these models the wings look big enough.Sammael is awesme looking like a daemonically posessed Sanguinius really getting the horror of a Chaos Marine through. Tiny seems fine to me as if I recall there was a battle brother called Biff in the original Space Marine Novel.

those new ones look much better, I really like the pics you are using as well.

I like the idea of going for a dark goth look to them, with pale whites, but it might be nice to let in a bit of that flashy pink and purple, it could make parts of them stand out and work well with the pale grimdark feel the rest of the model has. In particular I was thinking a very pale white and grays for the models, then the wings could be bright colors like those last three pictures you showed, I would stick with purple, and pinks thought since that would work with their god, also it could be a way to have each of the creatures work off of the old greek myths.

Oh and btw if you make the flying bases any higher you will not only need to buy a van for transport, the harpies will also automatically become noise marines because you can receive signals on every wavelengths with them.

My god there is a Baldwin in every gakky flick ever made it seems. I actually couldn't laugh about until I watched the classic scene from 1963 which had way better animations! Shame on you Z-movie! There is something below B-movie, right?...

Love the 3 different heights, and especially the harpy coming in for the kill! The pun in the title, however, made me die a little inside, so now you have that on your conscience. I hope you're happy.

Your ts marine and scouts are amazing, may I ask where you get your GS from it looks so much more user firendly and greener than the cheap stuff I have.

Neil, as per usual, everything is looking amazing. I can't recall where I saw it, but somewhere back in time there was a game or a picture or something else that had pregnant harpies and they had an extra creepy feeling to them. I'm probably late in posting this, as I've been more or less off dakka the past few days, but it's just a thought.

Those harpies are really awesome, and the 6-arms serpentine daemonette is even more amazing!!

Also, the harpies in the film with *whatever* Baldwin was one of the dumbest films I have ever seen... For both the Harpies, and the unique sequence when one of the bad scums takes hold of a spear that is thrown at him, tugs it underneath his armpit, and awfully mimics as if he was being skewered... Fond memories lol...
