I think I preferred the colours of your competitors but that aside yours is a striking paint job and I do like the old school red blades.

The Tau pathfinders have such a great dirty feel to them. I like dirty Tau. The blue works so well with the dirty white. These get a double

Not quite an update, as work & health pretty got in the way lately (nothing serious though, don't worry)...

That rhino front panel is bugging me. The edge in the air is to clean. It's no a door or anything, so I'd think it would be real blow apart looking.

Your painting competition entry is Gorgeous. Without a doubt you were the clear winner to my eye. One dcm complained that your darks and brights were too dynamic on the cloak, but for that very reason i prefer your model. In the end its just about personal taste when models are equally matched. Congrats, Well Deserved.

Well... Now that you pointed that specific part out, I cannot help but specifically agree with you... I might try to clip & gouge dents in it before painting...

No update (yet) as it's 8am, but just wanted to share that awesome piece of new artwork from the Clan Raukaan supplement :



It almost looks like a film snapshot, and is much more realistic than the usual GW artworks... It's a big win in my book, I wish we'll see more of that kind in the future !!

You can almost picture the moment where the Dread will turn to face the pinned Eldar & unleash hell on them with its rotating barrels.... I love it !!

Is anyone going to buy that supplement ?

Quick update :

I have painted the soil on the craters, took me about one hour... Should look great !

As for now, I'm just pondering whether I should paint them in my army's colours, or in my regular opponent's



So that leaves me with :
- Imperial Fists or Slaaneshi Pinky ;
- Night Stalkers' camouflage ;
- Or my future Star Phantoms' ones... (that's the one I'm leaning towards... )

Craters look really good, especially for only painting for about an hour. I say have fun and go for the Star Phantoms. As per above, I was actually referring more to the old 80's cartoons

Side note: I gave you a full response with pics in my Everliving blog, but it got auto appended, so you probably missed it but definitely not a big deal.

I think it would be funny to remind the enemy whats going to happen to their tanks

Craters look good.. I go with IF as well . That way you can use them in HH games if your into that.

Nice picture..so much movement. Something GW doesn't do very often or well. Hate that all this digital stuff isn't supported by hard copies. Not everyone owns a IPad!.

You can buy the supplements in standard old PDF version now, you know this right

I'm still totally loving your Tau! :-) and well done on the win dude! job deserved! both were good but the care you took with the blending even though it was airbrushed is stand out! your base compliments the job as well without distracting the viewer! stand tall and be totally proud! wallow in your win!

Same for me, I don't have an iPad... Though I have to admit, I plan on asking that for Xmas MOSTLY for the GW digital products.... colour me *fanboy*

Just wanted to add that I've begun the Land Raider Crater as a Star Phantoms one...

And I wanted to try a new effect with my airbrush... What do you think of that stripe ?

Hey, thank you guys !!

Yeah, it was quite simple (though I put some thought into it beforehands ) :
- paint white ;
- use some masking tape to leave only a stripe visible ;
- apply some liquid mask with blister foam ;
- airbrush on top of everything ;
- remove tape, then brush off the liquid mask ;
- voilà !

Things I've learnt :
- The masking tape should be large enough, that the airbrush doesn't spray paint outside of it (see the brown paint on the downmost steps on the door ) ;
- The masking tape should be neatly applied, so that no paint can get under it (see the subdued "halo" on the right of the stripe, under the skull ; it also doesn't look strictly straight, but a bit bent... ) ;
- It would probably look better if the stripe was less "weathered", which means I should be less heavy on the liquid mask.

I think it should be fine... Maybe a little hard to apply properly "along the lines", but I'm pretty sure it could be done...

Though for shoulder pads, I've also tried once with bluetac, and it worked fine !
