Nice job on the hoverboards Insaniak. They add some character and color to the army. Nice touch.

The vignette looks terrific, Insaniak! My envelope from South Africa just arrived here today, I'll get started playing with the pieces as soon as I'm done with the current space ponies project (I got a set of square shipping containers, angled- like you've used here, and the roof ventilators).

Good stuff, I'm not all that familiar with the Epiran range but those guys look awesome. The terrain is great as well, love the little details you added in.

New building in progress. Playing with foamed PVC and the Maelstrom's Edge terrain sprue.

As soon as I saw that pic in the gallery (I check and vote every day) I knew it was you! Nice use of foam board- I never would have thought it would bend _that_ much. Nice looking building. I am truly trying to talk myself into buying some Maelstrom's Edge sprues, but it's a question of where to apply the (sadly) finite amount of coins I possess....


Your various projects using them though- really tempting!

To clarify, this is foamed PVC, rather than foamboard. It's a solid sheet of plastic, rather than foam and paper, so more durable than foamboard.

Really good. It cuts really easily, probably more easily and cleanly than heavy card does... it's like what you would get if heavy cardstock and foamcore had a baby. Sands well, and it grabs onto superglue like nobody's business. End result is really solid - much more durable than foam or card, and won't have to be sealed before spraying.

It's the ability to bend it that was particularly appealing, for getting some buildings with more interesting shapes. All it takes to bend is a little heat - for this first one I hit it with a hairdryer and bent it over an old formula tin, but I think that was a little too hot as it swelled up on some of the cut edges. Next time I'll try hot water.

@Insaniak- gotta get me some of this foamed PVC to try- love what you're doing with it.

@Kid_Kyoto- welcome back Kid! The Space Ponies really started as a bit of a joke. I got a set of 12 from Tehnolog to do a set of 4 for my wife, who is very forgiving of my addiction/hobby (saves bottle caps, tolerates the smell of spray varnish, etc). But then, I figured, we have four real rescue Shetland sot model, so I could a set of 'normal' chibi ponies and maybe a set of 4 'superhero' ponies. Wirecat said something that suggested maybe using the last 4 as a weird type of Kill Team set. Too much fun!

Finished building... Now that I have a proof of concept, I'll be turning out some more to go along with this one, and having some fun with curves...

The photo setup - I did away with the light box, and picked up some proper studio lights. Here's the rig set up...

Wow your lighting set-up is a damn sight different to my almost non-existent one!
I've always liked the salt weathering that's done on scale models, never thought about doing it for buildings, it looks great!

Well that's certainly more professional then I was expecting.
