@graven: Plasma doesn't really help against nids... well, I suppose if you spammed plasma guns, but then I'd be killing my own troops every other shot anyway. It's just too many multi-wound creatures with too many psyonic buffs. How many 6 wound, toughness 8-9 creatures, sometimes with invuls, regeneration or that can only be hit on a 6 can your army kill in 5 turns?? That's ignoring everything else in the army of course.

@WM: I just snapped the dozer blade on wrong... it's straightened out now.

It was a good tourney. I got to see why people love the gimmick laden armies. Not enough gimmicks in the Marines comparatively to all the new codex armies. Thankfully the Tau codex is well balanced (?). All good opponents and very good about explaining the uniques rules thou I internally cringed everytime some one says " ok thats 47 shots"

Overall good company, good learnings, Good food. bad dice rolling. Thanksfully Git's superior painting snagged me a " tag along" painting win! Whoooo Hoooo. Sidekick for the WIN!

Oh and Mrs. Git made us B-fast. No one make me bfast anymore. Truely worth going now!

There are good, gimmicky SM armies... we've just never built one. Maybe next year our team theme can be... "abuse your codex".

Misuse and abuse your codex. Good job on the painting win, i would love to see pictures of the board and army for judgement.

The one thing we didn't take a pic of. We finished early so we were excited to go eat a meal that we didn't have to eat like Marines in boot camp!

Definitly not enough playing together with git.. who is very good once the game starts!

I'll consider a " gimicky" SM list when my HQ gets 6 wounds, fires 12 S6 shots, starts out at T6 and can increase it turn by turn to T9, flys with Hammer and Vector and spawns 3d6 assault marines every turn. and is't a SW

LOL, I think you are combining the Tervigon and Flyrant into a Tervirant? 2000 points of nids is a very scary thing to face unless you are running Deldar or Tau allied with Eldrad and Harlies.

Consider it a wish list.

Still having 5/6 monstrous individual creatures in a 2000 pt game is scary. Not sure I could equal that in a SM army of any type.

Maybe try to spam Heavy Bolters and assault cannons. 3 devastator squads with full HBs is a lot of dakka (also the "bonus" bolter shots")

Hmm.. idk space marines need their heavy weapons to deal with that.

Honestly that many big beastys is a lot to handle, I am not surprised that they caused so much trouble!

Well on the bright side, at adepticon you won't face 3 Tervigons and Two Flyrants. At most you will Face 2 HT and 2 Tervigons or 3 Tervigons and 1 HT.

It doesn't seem like much, losing either a HT or a Tervigon, but it really makes a big difference.

Just wanted to remind everyone...

On the Friday night of Adepticon at approximately 7 PM (or as soon as we can find a free table in the main hall), the Wardens of the Maelstrom and the Redeemers of the Maelstrom will revive the epic stuggle of the Badab war. 8000 points (or two full Adepticon teams), 4 rebels, 4 loyalists will vie for superiority on a desolate battlefield in that far-flung region of space. The Fire Hawks, Red Scorpions, Marines Errant and their Adeptus Mechanicus allies will try to bring the four rebel chapters... Tiger Claws, Lamenters, Executioners and the Mantis Warriors to heal.

We invite all of you to come join us to witness this historic event, and well as joining us in a mixer of sorts. A chance to meet us, see the armies in person & maybe even run one of these storied chapters whilst it's owner takes a pee break! We'll provide some limited quantity of libation and nosh to get things rolling... but it's probably best if you bring your own lest you be disappointed. We'll start to set up 7ish... but if you want to wait until the battle is rolling to swing by, 8 PM is probably a more reasonable time to join us.
