Oh thank the stars! My father's side is a bit spare but my grandfather on mum's side still had a glorious head of hair until the day he died.

OK guys, first update... a short one, but I promise more as time goes on (had to spend the evening getting re-acquainted with the wife & kids).

So, the first real "event" of the weekend was a simple little 40k pick-up game with old teammates whalemusic360 and Ramos Asura who hadn't had much of a chance to practice with their armies yet. Yellowbeard borrowed some of Solar_lion's old marines and I dug up some Mantis Warriors for the event. We had a wonderful little two-on-two game witch our old partners won handily. The MW still got some attention from passers-bye... that's still very gratifying (even though they're looking a little beaten up).

Mantis Warrior armor castles up behind a hill.

Ramos looking generally disgusted. Come on man... YOU WON! Show some enthusiasm! The party colored flyer in front is his "Hell Drake"... yeah, right... and my Razorback is actually a Lord of War...

whalemusic's terminator squad as painted by Ramos. Looking good!

Rhino, again painted by Ramos for whalemusic. Nice work.

I went a wandering early. Blundered into some guys playing 30k. Quite possibly the most expensive 40k armies ever (figure per figure). Also quite possibly the coolest looking I've ever seen.

Our first big "do" was the "Mother of All Battles" (MOAB) on Friday night, pitting the two teams against each other in a no-holes-barred knock-down, drag-out, stop the titan from getting activated battle.

Ramos is looking quite smug behind WM's titan (which Ramos painted).

Moonpie chats during deployment.

Beautiful marines on a skyshield, all painted by Ramos.

Most of the team ready for the game to start.

The fighting was hot and heavy.

Especially when the xenos scum air support arrived.

Some chipper xenos scum commanders.

In the end, not even the Tiger Claw terminators could make a difference... in frustration, (or perhaps because of the mind shackle scarabs), the last terminator power fists himself in the face.

Recognizing the inevitable outcome, the last of the Imperials retire from the field in good order... to fight another day.

Poor Tiger Claw Terminators received the Ion Accelerator reception upon coming in from reserves...blasting all but the sergeant off the board

Tiger Claw Sergeant: Hey we just moved into the area and wanted to say hi...
Tau: *Zzzzzzaaaaappppp*
Tiger Claw Sergeant: Oh dear god...what the feth was that...did you just spray us with plasma....you did didn't you...you commie bastards!

...and chipper would be the last word to describe my zombified state of being that day...I mean look at me...I make rain man look normal.

I'm still scratching our head as to why the appearance score was only 33...but then again I was surprised that we got any points for theme much less 30+ .

So... I'm kind of curious... does anyone still read this blog or have I totally tanked my following by all the GK/ork/necron distractions of the past 6 months?

Sound off! I'm curious how much damage I've done to my little corner of dakka.

I admit it's a little disapointing, but I'm not suprised by looking at what was out there. What was missing from the theme?

Lovely lovely pics, Gits. Really great that we were able to get pics of everyone. I'm generally not the best in pictures, so that second one of me is genuinely surprising. (still not sure why I look so grumpy in that first one though!)
Needless to say, Ill be saving a bunch of these. My camera sadly has battery issues, so I wasnt able to take any for myself!

LOL!

OK guys, you're off the hook. Seen enough to know it's more than just a few close friends that still follow. Thanks for sticking with me.

Will have some more pics today along with a *very brief* summary of each of our tournament games..... that is if someone will post after this so I can have a clean slate.

Exciting news over the weekend... apparently the gaming group in Madison has just thrown up their hands at all the completely broken rules GW has been cranking out and will be allowing IA rules and units from now on. I got so excited that I stayed up late to build my last two grot tanks. Unfortunately, I don't really have much in the way of IA marine things... HOWEVER... there are Mantis Warrior chapter tactics and a MW special character that deserves its own special attention. So I suspect a resurgence of the green and yellow this year!
