Seriously, have you considered starting your own miniature design company?

Nobody could pay such quality.
That's the sad part about this hobby ; )

A titan like this would have to cost several thousand dollars, probably more.

ps: nice plumbing^^

I'll take that up with my son when he returns from college this Summer. First we would need a 3D printer................ then an original design :(

I've been itching to get my hands on Rhino, I am pretty sure I can get a student edition cheap. I just want to know if it will be compatible with the 3d printers that are coming out.
I use to do modeling in LIghtwave and it was a lot of fun.

I also was not insinuating that this build should be made into a model for purchase... too large, too expensive, but you definatly have an eye for detail and planning. I could see some Knight sized titans, or even a Blackadder superheavy tank.

pretty much XD
But yea, just think about the hours going into the model, then take something like 15 dollars per hour.
I think >100 work hours are not unrealistic for this titan.
That's why this sort of quality can only be achieved as a hobby where time doesn't matter.

well lets consider the implications of mass production, if you were making this for a customer you would have pattern pieces cut probably using a laser cutter these days which would cut down on the time needed and you'd hopefully know exactly what you were doing whereas Blackadder has had to do a lot of prototyping and working out..

It'd still be ludicrously expensive and probably quite fragile... but with some effort and proper equipment / materials I believe you could bring the price down to under a thousand dollars maybe

That would reduce the cutting time, but you still have to cover the cost of the machine, the cost of your time making the templates, your time constructing it, etc...
Then consider you'd only be likely to actually sell a very small number, say 3-10.
So your laser cutter is going to run you about US$3000 for one that takes A4 sheets of plasti-card, then you'r probably going to have a hundred hours in working on the plans, then 50 building each one... so for even 10, that'd be US$9000 in time, then probably another what... US$400 in materials per?
So maybe US$1600 per? US$2000 might be a more realistic number, especially to be worth it.

Not unviable, you just have to be realistic about these things is all.

No not truly evil; conniving, irreverent, morally bankrupt, but evil in the sense of certain Dictators, Despots and certain Presidents........... no, just an opportunist hence the "Million dollar price tag"

I'm love'n it............. This room keeps getting more and more cluttered. Thanks to suggestion I have made more support girders and walkways (I was gonna do that anyway but I appreciate the support. Considering I haven't even added the 'bitz' and personnel the Reactor room is sufficiently cluttered 'n don't forget I still have to add the electrical conduit, more ducting, piping and lighting.

Note the side panels open for ease of viewing.

And the flash reveals the left side walkway leading to the core inspection access.

Not really, the warlord would just walk away from that 1/2 mile per hour speed machine...

BTW now the reactor room fills up it doesn't look so fiddly anymore. The right lane, now, methinks.

Tread Design

Finished detailing the feet and toes this morning except for three 19mm x 4mm aquila I have yet to scrounge from my son's seemingly bottomless bitz hoard.

I hope he has a few still stashed away.

I started on the tread and decided to use a bas relief Adeptus Mechanicus emblem on the center of the foot pad similar to the Reaver cog and gear pattern below

http://i.imgur.com/LpFxBeN.jpg

but mine will have the 'Borg' style skull and accouterments. I was thinking of Aquila with folded wings for the toes as I did for the Warhound distal phalanges

http://i.imgur.com/xBRDkWy.jpg

Getting the proper spacing for the gear cogs was a pain having to resort to the formula to divide a circle into 24 segments to make the gear. Still looks rather crude as my compass is wearing out.
