I had an awesome Holiday with just me and my boyfriend, we havn't had a simple Christmas together in 3 years, so just sitting at home and being massive nerds playing Borderlands in pajamas and MTG was perfection. Also, so much food for 2 people. 150 sausage rolls was a slight bit overboard I think.

Not included is the HD remake of ZOE and ZOE2 which was mashed into my ps3 at the time, but watta haul! Sonic cleaner for my airbrush, coffee grinder, some nerdy things that clearly aren't mine as we all know I'm super cool, and a FREAKING PROPER LIGHTBOX SETUP. WITH ACTUAL LAMPS. AND NOT MADE OF CARDBOARD?? WHOAH.

It is incredible and I spent yesterday playing with it.
For an idea of how weird it was to work with, here is a shot of completed Bete that I thought was actually pretty nice -



Now I thought that was a nice shot till I got it off my camera and realised how wonky the colour and definition had become, as the lightbox uses extremely bright daylight lamps and I am used to shooting with mega white tungstens. I had to play around with the camera for a while to negate the yellowish tinge the light gave and reposition her so she was getting properly hit by the light bounce, which meant putting her on a stand so she was in the middle of the box, and not the bottom.

It made a crazy difference and here is a shot of her after I spent a few hours trying new things -



It's not even fully in focus but wowza, so lovely. Really smooth, no horrible light glares ( and she is mostly black so that's amazing) and the colors really pop! I will get some finished shots of her in better focus soon, but I am really happy with her and I hope her owner will be too I managed a really powerful looking scheme considering there are only really 2 colours and a hint of red, and her hair looks quite different to her dress despite it using the same shads, so it's a victory for me! I've never tried such a limited pallet before and I am super happy

Mr Khorne lord is also on his way now, just his skulls, tassles, accessories, bit of work on the weapon, and some more cloak skin highlighting to go.





The streak on his knee is annoying me and needs to be made a bit more subtle I think, but that is luckily an easy fix. I'm going to sneak a tiny bit of colour into his pouch, maybe green or purple to match his mounts little coloured areas. Can't wait to dullcoat him, made such a gorgeous difference to Bete.

I also have a few PM's to get through, but getting ready for work now so I'll try and respond later today

Looks festive. And you can never have enough sausage rolls :no: silly Iffy.

I'm not entirely sold on the metal at the top of the corset - paintjob looks great, don't get me wrong, just not 100% on it. The Khorne lord is looking stonking, and the final pic really shows off the colours well.

Those new pics of Bete really look a lot better than before the colours are much better, the khorne lord looks really dark and evil.

Good lot of present for both of you, but 150 sausage rolls is a tad too many...or was it?

Surprisingly enough, Ifalna, he did make the trip under the Pennines without that arm falling off again. I got the impression that my friend was rather taken by him, which is always a good thing.

I am LOVING it so far, the fact that it is so portable and easy to put away is fantastic. I thought the lamps were going to be rather cheap battery operated ones.. my god, I was wrong.

Brilliant Present!....I just finished making my own Light Box out of a cardboard box, but buying a proper one is definitely on the cards. The new pics are looking brilliant.

So many cards! Got a box of R2R for christmas myself, definitely one of the best MTG sets in years. Rockin' the Golgari zombies at the moment, and I'm loving it.

Awesome painting as usual, it seems that lighting setup has only gone on to show us more of your genius. So jealous of your talent. I'd be proud if I were you.

Just got out of magic myself. I realized I bought 3 boxes of Avican and played no games outside of drafts

I just meant I want to see them together! I was surprised I hadn't seen the rider when the mount was being done, and it seems like the mount's been finished for a while (and it's spectacular).

I think your light setup might still need some work though, Ifalna- the front shots make him look basically black, but then that one back shot shows a deep red. The front pics make it seem not to the level of the mount, but the back starts to show what's going on more, I think.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing that entire piece together when it is finished
