@Cutthroatcure: Thanks! I ordered a few just to give them a try and I have to say that there's something neat about them. They do make the models 3mm taller but look nice. If they're not convenient for play at least they're pretty for presentation.
@Gitsplitta: Cheers. it's not perfect but it does the job.
@Dysartes: Hey, he told me that he loves you too. Nice idea about Buddy Jesis. Maybe with another model in the future. I could add a flag of him to either of my Thirty Years War armies but that would be kind of cynical I think.

@Moltar: Hey long time no see! Thanks very much for the comment. Those zombie survivors were a lot of fun to do (which resulted in a loooooooooong review).
@Vladsimpaler: Hehehe, yeah, they might look a bit static but I think with Marines and especially Terminators that isn't too bad, it just makes them look really dead 'ard (which is also why I never got people screaming for more "dynamic" terminators years ago).
@Rogue Wolves: Yay, Facebooky feedback! Thanks very much. I like my Saxons, even though they got a horrible thrashing last Thursday. I've got a few very nice Saxon pictures coming up in a few hours so stay tuned!
Hey people, I'm back! Sorry about all the delays and non-postery that's been going on in here for a while.
Death Ray Predator Battle Tank!!:
I really like this one. Love the Deimos pattern anyway but this one with the death ray is even more fun. I think that the colour scheme works really well on him too, especially with the additional bits of colour from the main guns.
Rampagers!
Really fun miniatures. I like them. Of course it's a little cheesy that all the legions seem to get one "special unit" but these guys are fun. Some interesting weapons.
There is more coming up in the way of pictures but I gotta rush.
Aw, whatever. Just because I'm unproportionally happy with the results of mah ph47 1337 shoopz0r skillz:
It's my zombie horde! I got two reviews lined up for some undead models too for this week and the next.

@nerdfest09: Ah yes, you must be thinking of the Sigur Ros fellas. They're proppa artists. I'm just the painter nerd Sigur. Thanks very much! After posting the zombies picture I realized there were yet things to touch up so I went back for a fourth time to do that and re-upload the picture. But it's fun.
@Gitsplitta: Cheers! It's good to be back. Somehow things are getting hectic these days. "Emergency orders" which need to be finished within two weeks and to be honest I spent a bit too much time on my own terrain projects recently so I'd be able to post prettier medieval/fantasy pictures so things have piled up.
So to add one more thing to the whole zombie topic, I wrote up a review of Mantic's rather popular zombie regiment and how well (or unwell) they mix with the rest of my collection. If you're interested (and want to know why the box of the models looks as it does), you can take a look here:
http://battlebrushstudios.blogspot.co.at/2013/07/review-mantic-games-zombie-regiment.html
That aside, I did some terrain building over the past three weeks and built meself a little medieval village! It was quite a ride, I tried some new stuff like teddy bear fur and such and I'm kinda proud of the result. But look for yourself:
Village with Anglo-Saxons:
Village with imperial detachment:
Village with anachronistic Roman Velites:
A cat who started hanging around our house since a few weeks:
...and here are the inevitable detail shots of the single houses.
Workshop
Houses
Watchtower:
Granary (on stilts so neither vermin nor moisture would creep in)
stables
Of course there are some things I still lack on this project (like civilians, animals, some fields and more fences. By the way: The english wort "town" I think derives from the germanic word for fence. German word for fence is "Zaun" so very close there. Not 100% sure on this, just remember hearing it on the radio some months ago.) but for now I'm pretty happy with the whole result. What do you think?
Oh, by the way, I completely forgot to post another recent review on here. It's about the first release from Agema Miniatures and it's Republican Roman Velites!
http://battlebrushstudios.blogspot.co.at/2013/07/review-agema-miniatures-velites.html[/img]
Hope you like it.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks, mate!
@Dr. H: Not quite scratchbuilt, even though one ofthem basically is. I used lasercut mdf kits as basis and then added wooden beams and whatnot. The wood is just drybrushed really but I put some effort into making some nice woodgrain texture by hand before that. (running the blunt side of my hobby knife's blade along the beams).
@Moltar: Thanks very much. The teddy fur pretty much is the classic thing to use. Yeah, somehow the colour scheme on these WE seems to work very well.
Quick update on another emergency batch of space marines (to be finished by mid August).
First we got five bikers of Khorne, basically finiished bar for the one guy's gun:
Then there's the Hellbrute:
Much better model in person than what you'd guess from GW's site. Enjoyable to paint as you get to do armour, flesh, some gemstones and so on. Fun.

@Gitsplitta: Thanks!
Hey peeps, it's Sunday and abnormally hot here again. Still, I managed to get stuff painted (given that I have to finish this batch of CSM models at high speed I better).
So here's the Hellbrute finished:
...and this is the next guy, Mr.Decimator:
I have to say, that Hellbrute is much nicer in person, the 'Eavy Metal paintjob was just a bit unfortunately executed or photographed or something. I know, that probably is common knowledge by now, I just wanted to have it mentioned here. Hope you like what I did with the model and stay tuned for more Khorney stuff!
edit: Fixed the pictures now.

@ThousShallNotHeal: A mix of Wargames Factory (Zombie Horde and Zombie Vixens), Mantic (Zombie Regiment and a few single Ghouls) and one Heroquest Zombie. All plastic figures.
Reviews and pictures of the single painted zombies you can find here:
WGF Zombies: http://battlebrushstudios.blogspot.co.at/2012/11/review-wargames-factory-zombies.html
WGF Zombie Vixens: http://battlebrushstudios.blogspot.co.at/2012/11/review-wargames-factory-zombie-vixens.html
Mantic Zombies: http://battlebrushstudios.blogspot.co.at/2013/07/review-mantic-games-zombie-regiment.html
Mantic Ghouls: *review will be up on the 31st, 11:00 CET+1*
And yup, that knee on the Decimator is pretty fun. Nice detail.
@nerdfest: See, this is why you're the bad twin between us two. To outdo me you immediately go for the depraved, tricksy route. Just kidding, I'm sure you'll make your Decimator look unique and spectacular whilst this one I did here is rather standard stuff. Can'r recall ever seeing a Slaanesh Decimator before but Khorne Decimators are all over the place.
@Moltar: Cheers! Happy with how the red and green seem to work together well. Usually I'd have gone for blue but the other models I did for this army before are also red and green to begin with so I better stick to that theme. (I never tried it but I don't think that clients take kindly to me changing the colour scheme in mid-work ).
@Northen: Thanks very much. To counter-balance all the (mostly) GW stuff I paint for commissions I have to do some other stuff every once in a while so I don't go mad. It's also weird how much of a wargamer I've become again in the past year instead of being a painter mostly. Most recently I'm really tempted by 20mm 1980s British for some Cold War Gone Hot (Force on Force) stuff and/or some 15mm Sci-Fi (using Tomorrow's War rules. Both because I'm a complete sucker for the FoF/ TW rules system) I'm also starting to enjoy writing those review things a lot, especially as some people actually read them now.
...aaaaaaaaaand it's done!
Just needs a few splatters of blood and that's that but all the bloody mess I save for later and do it on all models of this batch at once. What do you think so far?

@Gitsplitta: Not quite as fancy as the Hellbrute but I agree with you on the matter of "imposing".
First WIP of the Daemon Prince:
Hope that you like him so far. As you can see, I went for adding some flesh in the colour as seen on the Hellbrute. He'll look a mite fancier once the gold/bronze parts are done and some green details are added (and of course the wings are done). Automatically Appended Next Post: Well, that's that done. Next on the table: Khorne Possessed!
incredibly diverse and detailled models. You can say what you like about GW, diverse and detailled models - this is what they do well. They used to do it better before when the models were properly sculpted by hand but those are pretty okay too. Some very nice designs.
Not sure if I get them finished tomorrow, probably not as I'll be out playing some good old Star Trek Starfleet Battle A Call To Arms or what it's called. I'll see that I can get some pictures of that. That aside - I ordered me some toys. Oh, that reminds me, one of the books I ordered came in yesterday.
Got the cam's battery out of the charging unit again just to take the picture. Yup, it's Henry Hyde's long awaited Wargaming Compendium! 520 pages. I'm just at page 37 now and it's lovely. The guy knows his wargaming stuff and is a graphic designer and both you see instantly when looking at this book. It also seems to cover most important aspects of wargaming. I'm only through scale musings and the history so far. As far as I heard there's a ruleset in there as well. I hope to write some kind of article about the compendium some time soon but so far I think that it could well become THE go-to piece of literature if you're interested in miniature wargaming.
As for the toys I mentioned earlier, I ordered myself a mechanized platoon of British infantry from the 1980s in 20mm (along with a Chieftain, a Scimitar and of course their transports) for some fictional Cold War Gone Hot stuff. The reasoning is pretty simple - getting into a new period leads to buying new toys, getting into a new scale of figures (believe it or not, I don't have any 20mm scale models so far. Unless you count the loads and loads of Revell WW2 dudes of course. And their tanks. Damn, I need to dig those up some day.) requires the buying of new toys and buying toys is ALWAYS a good idea as we all know. Also, there are a few people around who already have some 20mm Cold War Era figures so all is well. And it's another chance to play something using the Force on Force ruleset. It's just so good.
Anyway, I'll stop boring you now, next WIP I hope tomorrow and hopefully nearly finished Possessed. After that it's 10 Raptors and last but not least the brand new Khorne Skulldozer. Stay tuned for red mareenz!
