Ok so i figured i'd show you all some wip shots.











Hopefully with the dozer blade, the angled sponsons and the rear track guards ive managed to lessen the 'backwards' land raider look. As always im sure it will look more unified with paint, but i cant help but feel the classic Land Raider silhouette is going to be too dug in to shake off.

Oh well, ive almost finished, and ive managed to breathe life back into an old busted model, so im happy

What about adding a tank commander? That would certainly help distinguish front from back. Also, I think the grated section detracts from the "this is the front" feel. Maybe armor plating and a cupola for that new tank commander instead?

Hello all!

Well the Divisio Cataphractus has certainly been busy, first the Achilles (which is almost finished now, following minor changes), now they've rolled a venerated Ancile Tank out of the Manufactorum....

This tank sports an Ancile Shield Generator, which creates a shimmering canopy of energy, not unlike the fields used by the Collegia Titanica in their dreaded Titan Legions.

It also carries an Arc Cascade, a weapon that, at the flick of a switch, rakes the battlefield with arcs of dazzling lightning, instantly incinerating those foolish enough to not be in cover.

The Achilles looks cool, but I'm not convinced by it as an ad-mech vehicle. Rawson's ideas should help so I'll reserve final judgement until we've seen the final version, but the reversed LR kinda screams Orky atm. Mind you, that could just be me

This Ancile Tank looks interesting, going to try to portray the actual shield?

I see where you are coming from My additions look somewhat scruffy and messy at that point, i have attempted to clean them all up with trimming and gs now though. Some of it may be due to the disparity between all the different materials, which should disappear with priming, hopefully We'll have to see how it ends up looking with a unified AdMech paintjob.

As to the Ancile, yes actually! I have been trying to think about ways to replicate Atropos907's fantastic shields on this tau commander:

Exploding tank shell would be awesome. Some interesting opportunities for effects as the shield absorbs the energy too

Well, I started to think of what i should build with all that plasticard, and whilst im waiting for dave to give me some measurements, i figured i'd dive in at the deep end.

So that brought me to this so far

Ah, see... now there's something recognizable to comment on. Looks very promising Vit, nicely done! I've considered buying one of those but always balked at the price. Like your DIY approach.

@dave: Doesnt have to be crazy detailed, the main problem i have whenever i try and scratch build is getting the scale, compared to the original, right. I knew this was about the size of an LR so its not too bad.

@Gits: Thankyou sir! Ive coveted one for a while too, figured i should just try and build one Though this is mainly based off this concept image (the lower one) because i prefer the look.




I should also mention that ive scaled it so the two troop compartments comfortably accommodate true scale marines, and should be plausible with TS terminators.

Very nice work all round Vit. I envy your design and building skills.
