Hi all,

I just wanted to let everyone know that I now have additional molds made for the female space marine heads - so for any kits ordered in the future, upon request you may substitute all the helmets for a single type if you'd like

I've also been asked about getting the heads made available separately from the kit. If anyone wants these, I can do that for $0.75 per head so long as you order at least ten of the same type. If you want less than that, it has to be $1 per head.

By the way everyone, the magic of craigslist and a nice check from overtime at my regular job has led to a massive improvement in my casting equipment - just finished installing an 80 gallon 5 horsepower Campbell Hausfeld air compressor rated at 11.5cfm at 90psi... plus I got a 10 gallon industrial pressure pot and an air operated vacuum pump... bottom line is that I eliminated the need to squeeze air from my molds by hand, so there is less chance of a mold misalignment and I have far fewer miscasts going into the scrap bin.

@Space Corsair: I am LOVING the female commissar sculpt!

Hey Jacqualine,

You absolutely rock!

I'm so grateful that you are willing to cast my stuff for us.

Great to hear that you are interested in the commissar model too. I'm hoping to have a few more greens to send your way in a couple weeks.

Jake,

Thanks for the kick-ass concept sketch!

I think the eyes on her chest armor are an amusing take on the whole "Hey buddy, my eyes are up here" line.

I'll do a final pass on the design and flesh out he weapons a bit more as we discussed before I start.

I'm really looking forward to sculpting her. She's going to be a lot of fun to sculpt.

Vik,

I think an Axe could use a more Tech approach, as the whole design seems to be very cyberpunky, but it's an outstanding sketch nonetheless! Kudos, RSJ!
I'm looking forward to see Corsair sculpting this figure. I feel it will be great!

I just found this thread and am very excited about the female marines. I have been wanting to start a SoB army and don't like metal as much and the ridiculous looks of some of the models. Is there any time frame on when they will be able to be purchased again?

Also, Space Corsair, are you planning on doing some 'flying' legs or something that would look good if the model has a jump pack/wings? Maybe a leaping stance or something. Similarly, is there a chance to get some tabards and possibly some other various cloaks/fabric things (whatever it is called where cloth is coming from the belt, covering the front and going down to about the feet) to accent the models?

AWESOME sculpts!

I plan on doing a couple more leg variations. I'm also trying to see if the torso looks with the jump harness.

If Jacqulaine47 is has the time and is willing, we can make them available to our friends here at Dakka

I'd be curious to hear how you're planning on having the Hounds appear in your Space Wolves army

Those are incredible news... i got a nice ideia for the fluff of the army, but want it to be an all helmeted, "jump packed" army. Thanks for making it possible

About the Hounds... they have a great "wolfy" feel to them, and i really like that helmets and the "wolfy icons" you put here and there. I dont know exactly HOW i would use them, but i want to use them Maybe as scouts or Wolf Guard. Even as "hired aliens" counting as one of those.

It is how your greatness work my friend, your skill is such and your creations are so beautifull that we want to use them, even when we dont know how...

I've gotten my female marines and am very happy with the kit. I do find the stock shoulderpads to be too large, but am probably just going to substitute Scout pads instead by cutting them off of my many spare scout arms.

The real problem is I don't have any smaller size chapter badges printed for Blood Ravens!

I look forward to ordering more heads, hopefully when the female scout torsos are available. Your work here is remarkable, both in the sculpting and to Jacqualine for the casting.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your kind praises. It warms my heart and gets me fired up to keep on sculpting way past reasonable bed time.

As if I didn't' have enough on my plate, I've decided to enter koridon's May Challenge:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/447166.page#4233013

Koridon is proposing this challenge since May is Cystic Fibrosis awareness month. Please help spread the word to help raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis.

Time for me to brush up on my painting skills; it's been ages since I actually painted anything

I dont have any scouts for size comparison nor have I received my marines yet so I hoping someone can help out.

Are scout arms smaller, especially the shoulder guards. They appear to be one piece with the arm unlike marines ?

Guard arms .... would they look too small ?

Ideally, I would love to see a side by side of marine arms with shoulders, scout arms with the built on pad, and some guard arms. Next to the new female marines would even be better.

......check my mailbox each day in anticipation.

Here's some size comparison pics of the arms from IG, Scouts and Marines.

Personally I think the IG arms are a good fit for the female scout torso but too small (and unarmored) to fit the female marine body well.

My preference is to use the standard marine arms since it matches the exaggerated proportions of the legs, unlike the relatively more 'realistic' proportioned arms.

One possibility is to simply not put on the shoulder pads.

Though your safest bet might be to wait for me to finish sculpting the smaller blank shoulder pads for the female marines that fits the standard arms.

The model has been primered now and is ready for some paint. It's been years since I painted anything, so I'm going to keep it simple and hope for the best

I just wanted to cross-post over here that I am offering prize support for Koridon's May Challenge. The prizes are being offered in the memory of Phil Gunther, a friend of mine whom passed away from Cystic Fibrosis. First place gets two of the Female SM conversion kits, and second and third place each get parts for a single Female SM mini.

@Space Corsair
I just saw the small shoulderpads you are working on... and now I lament if only I had not already ordered a crapload of Astral Claws shoulderpads from Forgeworld LOL

@Everyone
I also wanted to mention that at Space Corsair's suggestion I have agreed to do a series of video articles on casting. The videos will go over equipment, mold making, casting, and then there will be a few more videos with some tips and tricks like recycling molds, the amazing shrinking mold, and duplicating / 'backing up' an existing mold without having to go through the clay phase again, etc. The plan is to start filming these videos as soon as Space Corsair gets his next batch of sculpts to me since they will be my demonstration in the video.

Just stuck together the first marines and am really glad i got those! Excelent sculpting and casting!

They fit perfectly with the male marines!
Concerning the matter with the shoulderpads, there is only a minimal problem - sizewise - with the figure which comes with the arms already in place.
Otherwise i do not see any probs when you use the normal arms from geedub. I am going to use on all the miniatures FW bolters and especially the FW
backpack (much slimmer, by 2-3mm, than the geedub one).

Can't wait to see the assault and scout ones finished!

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I started a new job last month and I've been busy flying back and forth between Seattle and San Francisco on business

Things are starting to settle down finally, so hopefully I'll be able to get back to sculpting again and posting stuff again soon.

Here are pics of my entry for Koridon's "May Challenge" for Cystic Fibrosis awareness from last month.

No contest winner, but I'm glad I was able to get it done. It was a rather hectic last month with starting my new job and the resulting weekly business trips.

I had lot of fun painting a figure for a change. It also made me realize that I really need to paint more so I can get better.

I really need to learn how to take better picture as well. The purple looks a lot different in real life.

from what i've seen on here i'd be interested in buying the bodies and arms you've sculpted, they're really good I already have some female heads that fit nicely with space marines let me know if you could do some for me I'd be willing to cover costs and labour. Would be well worth it. Hope this is possible.

Just a quick post showing the stuff that got sent to Jacqualine for casting.

Included in the shipment were:

Female rкомисса́р (aka commissar)
- I decided not to sculpt the weapons since it would unnecessary delay getting the figure cast and I figured you would rather provide your own weapon-load-outs to suit your army anyways.

Female marine scout torso
- for use with the usual scout legs (with modifications to the crotch) and IG arms with the female marine heads from the current sets.

Female marine torso with jump harness
- for use with separate assault posed legs. Jacqualine will be separating the torso of the current assault pose figures from their legs to offer them as separate components.

Female marine helm with opened chin guard

- this is my own helm for my assault squad captain. I plan on doing variants with the face guard fully opened and one with it fully closed once I get the cast back.

Female marine legs

- one kneeling posed and another assault posed legs.

Smaller marine shoulder pads
-One is smaller than the other, but both are smaller than the standard marine pads. I prefer the larger of the two but I'm going to leave it up to Jacqualine to decide which one she wants to cast up for us.
