and casey I think I have my ideas down alright? I'm going to make them quite clean and uncluttered but very intricate with extreme highlighting and lots of that boring filigree work that i'm sure I'll overdo and everyone will get sick of lol! :-)

Yeh, sorry man, I was a bit tired and forgot what you had already said. You've given a fair bit of detail, I'll have a think about miniatures, ideas and such to see what what I can come up with. I should have a folder of ideas somewhere for Slaanesh.

Off the top of my head right now: The Blood Angel kits are packed full of great stuff for Slaanesh conversions. Diaz and classic Daemonettes are awesome. Pain inducing bodymods. The Prince of Excess artwork from the best codex of all time. Nudity? If you go with nudity I'd suggest male as well as female. Cheap miniature statues might be good fodder for bigger conversions.

Damo, if you ever need them, I have 9 (I think) Diaznettes looking for a suitably perverted home

Even if you don't plan on fielding a unit, if you want one or two for bits I can hook you up

Also, new Marbo looks awesome, great work, especially like the 5:00 shadow!
Sad to hear about the Tau, they were the first army I bought more then one thing for, but I never continued with them.

Yanno Casey is right, the Blood Angel kits would have some really good bits to turn into Slaanesh styled marines. Some very beautiful faces that would look perfect with pale white demonic skin. Not to mention a use for the nipple armor and it not look silly

I'm thinking piercings will be featured a bit among the bigger models maybe some obvious scarification designs? now i need to find some good robed wizard-y type models for conversions and Pinhead work! :-) I think i've found the perfect heads for some models, the Hellstriders of Slaanesh have some great ones bare as well as helmeted which will look good good good! and my $100 order from Puppetswar will give me just enough great fiddly detail!

As an extremely brief Thread Hijack - I decided today to get one of my half-finished techmarines out of a case and finish it. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the little ...blighter, so I've decided to work on another one that's assembled instead. Now, he's the old Metal one with the Power Axe, but at this early stage I can easily replace the unattached left arm which currently has a plasma pistol. Since he's a techmarine, and only likely to see much action in friendly games, the exact loadout isn't going to be a huge deal, but does anyone here have a suggestion on what to arm him with to be relatively decent? I'll be painting him as a Dark Angel, FWIW. So, he's got the poweraxe, a servo-arm, and a _______(!?)

Apologies to Nerdlinger, but I'd rather just get a quick answer from one of you guys who I've been conversing with here lately than post in the larger untamed and easily-ignored parts of Dakka.

Azazelx it depends on the role you want the techmarine to fill, assault, ranged or backfield/repairs. Once decided you can choose from a ranged or special weapon to go with your power axe. PM me if you wish to discuss further.

The insanity has indeed started! I planned on spending time making sure i had a very unique Slaanesh force with some things I haven't done previously and while I was looking at the Daemon kit before work I thought "I know how about I sand the armour plates smooth and paint freehand on them?" then that thought turned into "I know, how about I sand the armour plates smooth and then sculpt greenstuff things on them to look really Slaaneshy?" so i chose the latter

please be aware this is only my second attempt at using GS for anything other than gap filling or bulking out something it has only taken me about 45min to get to here but I am at work so I can't spend more time yet, I've pretty much just got the bottom of the face done and started on the nose, still a long steep learning curve ahead but I hope it looks at least promising?

I'm thinking quite hooded eyes for 'her' and hair framing the face and the entire pad?

Thanks theo, still a long way to go, it may or may not work in the finish but I'll have a red hot go today when i wake up and see if i can finish it, it'll be painted as metal of some kind so it can look slightly baroque out of proportion, I'm looking forward to doing the hair and eyes now, i think they'll make it tie in much better?

I originally just wanted to see if I can find some tips for using GS on youtube but found so much more..... :-)

For "reusing" your sculpted stuff and adding additional details to flat surfaces, you might find some great details somewhere that you'd like to get a press mould of and "cast" in GS. If so, this is the stuff you want to get:

Thank you so much az! that is truly a generous and thoughtful nerd gift for me to peruse! now i have all that right at my fingertips and i do think i shall use it too :-)

speaking of sculpting, I scrapped the pad i was sculpting as it didn't live up to my lofty personal expectations, but I've started re doing it with a creepy face inspired by Steve Wang's awesome work http://www.myspace.com/stevewangfx/blog/125821874 if you don't see something there to make you want to create then you should take up something boring like stamp collecting! (which i also do........ don't judge me)

I should get a fair bit through the new sculpt and pic up tomorrow.

I'll throw in and say:
1: Oyumaru (Instant Mold) is great stuff, I use it quite a lot.
2: Milliputt, while I keep singing its praises for general use over Greenstuff, for casting, Milliputt is just outright better, being you can brush a super thin layer of water over the mold and it'll make the milliputt fill the mould just that much better, resulting in greater quality / detail.
3: LEGO!
Making casting-boxes out of Lego (flat panels at the bottom, walls with bricks, pack the bottom half with soft instantmold, then press your part into it, allow bottom to harden then press more instant mold over the top, and press a flat plate on the top) makes 2 part molds, that ensure a stable, high quality cast.

I'll third the Oyumaru praise. It's one of my favourite tools and I even managed to get a crude three part mould with it when I had to cast my Tyranid Warrior torsos. It's the perfect press moulding tool, I actually have a little plastic tub I use instead of Lego so I can close it up, travel with it, make tiny moulds and apply pressure to the lid if I'm making something complex like the Warrior torsos.

And thanks for that blog link Nerd, I'm bookmarking it for a closer look later.
