I like skalks idea that they follow my sculpt, however that means then they have to perhaps buy the box which is expensive, to get the correct sculpt. Im thinking just limiting the parts ... and the pose...basically just this

Ok. So thankfully, I'm not crazy, ok maybe a little, and you guys like my idea! SO, I will set this in motion ASAP. A couple things needs to happen first, and that is a rubric for which the comp is judged. Since I will be hosting this and paying for prizes etc etc, I will not enter but I will most certainly judge. I'd like two others with a strong eye for critical judgement to join me here. Can anyone interested in judging pm me please so we can privately discuss a rubric and get the ball rolling

standard Guardsman means that those that do enter will 'really' need to push the envelope to stand out. I think reading between the lines of peoples replies perhaps running it in its own thread where we can post work in progress and bounce ideas to create a learning environment?

and as I would excpect Dave wins the Dakka Karma award for 2013 offering Guardsman! legend!

I also took a couple of shots of my ideas for Dante's head, keep in mind i'm jus' playin' around with ideas!

o.k first up the Deathmask with no mouth, symbolizing his chapters urge to reign in the provocative comments about his chapter eating flesh and turning to chaos.so far it's just scratched smooth but I think if I try and get tricky it'll ruin the design? what about the halo thingy?


and the half skull idea? the other option is reversing it and making it sort of look like the biker half skull mask bandanna? but whatever idea these ideas are going to be Gold with the armour!

As for the heads, im a little behind on whats on your docket but id say, the 2nd head appeals to me more.

I like both heads, but I think number 1, cause I just don't see an actual head fitting inside the second one.

I like the deathmask head. Could do interesting things with that head.

Why is there a block on the deathmask head? Is he a circus performer doing some kind of balancing act? Will his arms be twirling plates?

Oh, Oh we're a comedian now are we Gits no in fact the block on his head is because i'm a cheapskate who bought resin skulls for a very low price and as such has to clip off small blocks of encumbering resin! he will not, I reapeat NOT be twirling plates!............. I'll save that for Lemartes

and as far as the heads go, I like the second one as it's a lot different than you normally see, and hopefully when I'm done even if it won't look big enough to be a helmet it could pass as a techno faceplate? I like the fluff behind the mouthless mask head bit feel it might not stand out enough as I want it too? it has to be a focal point on a model like this and it might blend too much?

I think I like the second head better. I'd paint them both up before deciding which to stick in there though.

I vote for thedeathmask. The 1/2 skull idea looks a little too like a Chaplin to me.

I think contests typically go in just P&M regular.

They do. If you get a bunch of folks to sign up, contact legoburner and he may put the comp on the front page a week.

If you want to generate interest and participation, try contacting people directly. I did exactly that for the junk pile contest and the participation right now is almost 60 people. I admit to feeling a bit weird about it at first but there were some specific people I wanted to at least tell about it, and the majority of replies were thankful that they were told as otherwise they would have missed out on it. I'm sure you know a bunch of people (like me) that would be all over this.

Skull heads looks a bit... well, the skull is too small to be a helmet, which makes it a part of his head, which isn't goping to do a lot of positive for those chaos-rumours...

Guardsmen contest sounds interesting. What kind of timeframe would it have, and are multiple entries an option in case people want to experiment with a few different schemes?

and while looking for some bits I realized I had these, a bunch of tyranid scything arms and those funny looking spore arm thingies? as well as a big ass spider, I was going to use these parts to make some Slaanesh nasties but never got there does anyone you know need them? I don't need them but they may be useful for someone's project?

Spider-Nid Spider-Nid, does whatever a Spider-Nid wants... coz who's going to argue with it...

I quite like the mouth-less mask now it's painted and on a model.

Original plan was to make Spawn from them or make a Maulerfiend with them as legs along the body, the spider I got for the same reason but it was waaaay to big, I could have made some massive brood mother though ;-)

Now, I know this is kind of going against the grain here but I picked up a bargain on ebay today! a grey Knights Codex for less than a 20! and seeing as I have a bunch of terminator parts does anyone know a ridiculously small, ridiculously hard hitting force i could potentially build? I'd like to model Mordrak? a skull headed grey knight and friends could look cool stalking through my ZM board next year :-)

Hmm... I could potentially use some for my Tyranid project. I have a 500pt or 600pt force put together from the previous codex (painted and ev'rything). I've been putting off updating and increasing them them for the current codex since the rumours are that there's a new codex around the corner.

Also, I've been painting Ogres. I really should photograph the Nids and put them up.

Dragowing is still better than ghost knights, and you can run an 1850 list with like 21 models.

If no one wants them I would be willing, International postage mind you. But I will buy them off you.

On the masks I personally like the second one there. First one just doesn't rock my boat, don't know what it is.

I so spect you could make a Tervigon out of it. Might want to wait until the new Nid dex comes out in early January.

The first mask looks like he was in a horrible accident, the second looks ok, but the no mouth looks strange. Maybe try a normal deathmask?
