Its been over four years and I am still watching this guy. He is up to his old tricks again. He is selling base coated, flat casted FW terrain as original FW but used. This confirmed recaster will make poor copies of the originals and then spray them down with black primer so you can't see the resin color is off from what FW uses. Here is the three listings so buyer beware:

I am going to report these auctions to EBAY. Honestly, does this guy ever learn?

Update: The items have been reported and I asked him to post an underside picture of the item with the paint removed to make sure that it is the original FW resin. I am expecting him to flip out again with piss poor spelling and grammer.

Still using that lizheath account I see. This is one of the reasons I steer clear of Ebay personally - they seem to care not one jot about the consumer. This guy has been reported time and time again and yet Ebay do absolutely zip.

As Pipboy says, keep an eye out for this crook and make sure you are 100% happy with the provenance of what you are buying.

I think what EBay does is that when we catch him and report his auctions they just sit back and watch. If the items are bought they then they take action. For the longest while he has been selling individual figures, games and other stuff that is clearly original but every so often these recasts show up on his auctions. I can't believe it has already been four years since my first dealings with this guy. I was almost about to give up watching him since it has been so long think he had learned but nope. The vigil continues.

There is an interesting update to Paypal's dispute policies that is relevant here:

If you lose a Significantly Not as Described claim because the item you sold is counterfeit, you will be required to provide a full refund to the buyer and you will not receive the item back. (It will be destroyed.)

If you have a clear way of showing that the item is counterfeit, you could possibly both keep the item and get a refund, which would obviously be a deterrent to selling recasts... but proving it is difficult since Forgeworld quality and resin colors also vary.

Yes but a majority of current FW resin is grey. He was using tan on a lot of his recasts. That is because it is the cheapest resin one can buy online.

Typically proving something is a counterfeit to Paypal simply requires an "expert" to weigh in on the legitimacy of the items. Someone at my flgs was all I needed, despite him never seeing Grot Tanks before.

Most resins are naturally off white or light tan in color. You add black coloring to make them grey. Hence the range of grey colors you get on FW models.

Curious as to what the answer will be I sent a question to the seller asking if they could guarantee that these are genuine FW products. I got this as a reply:

I cannot give any garantees these were bought as a job lot from a wargames show about 4 years ago as they are there were about 30 pieces in the box
I have never used them any I was sold them as described if you are unsure please just do not bid as they are sold as seen in pic

I am wondering if there is more people here on Dakka that got taken that didn't report it here on the Transaction report. This all started around four years ago and he was buying up armies and pieces left and right and then claiming that he never received them only to turn around and selling knock off copies of the the same items. So four years ago makes sense since this is about the right time frame. Thanks for messaging him since of course he has ignored my messages.

I called EBay myself and asked what the h3ll they were thinking. They transferred me to one of their fraud specialists which looked at all the evidence we had and provided. He did say the will open an investigation. I guess that is about as goot as we are going to get.

I called ebay and he has a restriction that he can only sell 10 items a month. They clearly see that he is selling the same item or a recast. Maybe they will take us seriously this time.

No, he does not. The problem is that we keep on contacting EBay and they just restrict his account but still allow him to sell 10 items a month. People keep on bidding on his stuff no matter how many warnings we post.

I think that's most likely because he's recasting OOP Forgeworld stuff. So If people don't buy it from him, they simply cannot buy it anywhere. Which means they just buy it from him.
