There's also a planned expansion to the swamp table bubbling away as well as an Ash Wastes table for Necromunda... and the Dungeon Universalis monsters/heroes that I was supposed to be doing *last year* so I could start to play when it turned up. It turned up about 4 months ago and is still untouched...

I need a list for all this stuff

Make the list! SHOW UP A CHECKLIST endtransmission!

I'm about 50% done the "insane backlog of multiple armies + multiple terrain tables" and I can see progress happening. Do the debt management credit card thing, get something done once per month and focus on the smaller projects first. Paint a squad of dudes, one terrain piece, or a flat board. Piecemeal everything sir!

Good luck. We'll be watching

oh god..a checklist would be... interesting terrifying to read and curate... especially if I *have* to add new things to the backlog :/

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Ok, so I've started to compile a list of things that are foremost in my mind/project list. There's more to add, like the swamp table updates, a 7TV pulp cast for the next event, some heroes for Dungeon Universalis, my Necronunda gang that needs completing before the next campaign weekend and two different lots of necromunda terrain (one ZM, one ash wastes), but you can keep an eye on it and I'll try to come back to it once a month and see what has changed: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CSRmMJrdE0nz6qwQLUiq05CZem511pOuDEiF-eke4Sw/edit?usp=sharing

In the mean time, I had another look at the walls for the castle and improved them to allow bases to properly rank up on the walls by hacking apart the towers and making them the same height, but stick out from the wall instead. I've also managed to hack together a corner that works with the hex tiles as they won't easily support a square, but this looks quite nice and still allows for some different shapes.

One thing I did just work out is the archway to the gatehouse is too low for a cavalry command base to move out through it *face/palm*. Ah well, too late now as the gatehouse is 10 hours into a 28 hour print by now. Not starting *that* again!

Over night the gate finished printing and it looks glorious! I can't wait to see a Warmaster scale board all printed up!

You can see I wasn't particularly careful when removing the supports and it sheared off about 3.5 bricks up as it had filled in the whole gateway. If I have to print another one of these, I'll do it without the base tile to it is easier to get the supports off (and be more careful!). The walls should all be fine without supports and don't have awkward archways. I think I will fill in the windows though as I really don't need them to be open like that when it is this small... so lessons learned. Thankfully it seems it *is* just about big enough for the cavalry to go through the gate. Think I'll leave the rest until I've actually painted some of the army though; otherwise I'll have a load of terrain and no army to use on it.

That's a really neat piece, and a good-looking print to boot! A whole setup in a similar vein is going to look super!

Very well done I think a full board would look great. It is a pity games-workshop didn't spend more time at this scale.

in other news, I think I'm done with the river and crossings for the LoER challenge. The trainline are there to just see how they sit against other terrain. I'm really happy with the river tiles, but they could have done with being a *little* bit taller. I can fix that by sticking some feet underneath

I made two different crossing types, depending on what sort of game I'm playing. The stone bridge will be good for 28mm+ fantasy/pulp games; the other crossing will be good for games where we want something more rustic.

The rivers and bridge work out great. Beautiful additions to your board. Would also make a suitable coastline.

That's the theory, yes. I have a watermill kit to build to go onto the river, but also need/want to build some river bends so it's not quite so straight. I do also want to do some beach tiles to add in with some boats or houses on stilts... beach tiles would also be able to use the sand tiles I want to create for Ash Wastes to allow for a larger landing scenario

The main issue is trying to remember how I painted the first batch. You can see one of the tiles is a slightly different blue as I found one that had fallen off the table when doing the first lot. doh!

Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing what the next LoER theme turns out to be. fingers crossed for Biomes as I have swamps and desert tiles that I want to create in my project list.

The disappointment for the week are the leaks on Ynnari rules being poor if you are looking to create a proper mashup of Craftworld and Drukhari... so much for that nice idea. I guess I'll just be building two separate armies with the same/similar colour scheme while I wait to see what the Ynnari community makes of it once they get to play around with list options and games properly

A bit of progress on a couple of projects today!

I finally finished assembling the second Kabalite squad and... appear to have accidentally built something that looks like the new corsairs.

This is not necessarily a bad thing as such... but a slight shame as I wanted the Trueborn to look more opulent than the rest, rather than corsairs!

I've a pile of bikes waiting for me to finish building the pilots. There are 3 Drukhari, 3 craftworld and 1 warlock. I need to work out something to replace the giant blade on the back of the Drukhari ones though as I want them to feel more like the Craftworld ones...

My Mk IV HISS tank showed up in the post yesterday. a little worse for wear than the photos showed on ebay, but I'm not that bothered as it was cheap and it's going to get covered in loads of bits of plastic and resin anyway! It feels like it'll be a nice wasteland vehicle. If I were an Ork player, this would so be a battlewagon with a massive ram on the front! As it is, this will become something Genestealer-y

The front section rises up like a hissing cobra (unsurprisingly), but this isn't something I want for a Necromunda vehicle, so I need to dismantle it and try to remove the springs to reduce strain on the glue I'm weirdly looking forward to dismantling this thing and seeing what can be done. There are a couple of buttons and slots on it, but I have no idea what they are for as there's no clear battery area and they are not mechanical buttons.

Excellent find, HISS tanks have a great aesthetic (I'm rather looking forward to the Hasbro mash-up one with Megatron as HISS ). By all accounts - or at least random chatter from my eldar buddies - Corsairs are the best bit of the new codex, so that sounds like a win to me. Sexy Space Pirates are go!

I decided to have another go at the drukhari colour scheme. I made the legs darker and added the colour arm to give a bit more pop.

The texture coming through in the photo seems to be a grainy undercoat, so I need to make sure that the proper ones are smoother

I like that. The grey and orange together works, gives it a bit of a Rebel Scum vibe

To try and keep some momentum going on the eldar, I've split them out into a separate thread: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/804180.page

I've also challenged Arakasi to set up his Ork plog so we can goad each other on with the painting. Come join in the prodding and see if either of us actually achieve anything this year

This plog with remain active for the terrain challenges as well as any other painting that may be done, but I really need some focus on the eldar that a combined thread isn't giving me!

Speaking of the LoER... this time around I've not managed to start it until today due to being distracted by work and the new Horizon game. oops!

Still. I finally got moving on it this morning as a rare flash of inspiration hit. I ave been holding off on the intention of doing some swamps, but with the printers not playing ball at the moment I didn't want to start those as I need some of foliage and swampy buildings. At some point in the future want to create an ash wastes board for necromunda and 40k... so why not start that now?

I wanted something small to start with so I can play around with the colours a bit and see if we go greys or oranges (I suspect oranges and rusts due to all the decaying hive cities and junk that will be piling up out there). It was at that point that I remembered the horrific pictures on the news recently... and that I had a spare tank turret in the bitz box when I gave up on the guard force.

One hacksaw job later and we've got the base for one interesting focal point

Because my brain is a horrible horrible thing, I can't get the idea of a Horus Heresy army out of my head as the new beakies look really nice. There are only a couple of issues standing in my way.

1) I don't play Horus Heresy
2) I can't decide which army to play (Space Wolves, Alpha Legion, Word Bearers or Raven Guard)
3) I need another project like a hole in the head
4) I'm not a massive fan of painting space marines

I told you my brain was a ....

Still. To try and get it out of my head I dug out some of the HH board game plastics that I never got around to painting and tried a cut down version of Juan Hidalgo's Eavy Contrast style marines.

They are undercoated in black with a zenithal Leadbealcher spray. Once dry, shading is applied with thinned down black contrast and (in the case of the Word Bearer) silver highlights applied. You then smother the armour with contrast of choice and then chip/edge with some silver again.

I've not done eyes or other details yet, it's more a quick learning exercise to see if I want to go further. They were surprisingly easy to do, but require a bit of time to apply the shading to the metallic before slapping contrast all over.

I think the Alpha Legion looks like the better of the two

Agreed, gomega. I mean, go alpha my eldest plays raven Guard and he is a BIT excited about the new beakies.
