Yeah, apparently not quite as motivated as I had hoped, or at least, not hobby wise.

So, less than a month after we move...I get laid off at work.

Good news is, I already have a job lined up! It's full time, but temporary, a few months maybe. Hopefully work will pick up by then and I can start working at my old job again. Who knows.

Bad news is, it's out of town, and I'll be gone for 3 weeks at a time.

More bad news, just found out I have cancer on one of my kidneys. It hasn't spread, so I have time to go on a rotation before I have to get it taken out.

More, more bad news...laid off and a temporary job means no insurance. not sure what we're going to do. But my wife is an amazing woman, and she has been keeping my spirits up. I am not sure what I would do without her. I don't mean to lay all this on you guys, but I need to talk about it. I can't really talk to my friends, because word might get out to my new employer, and they might decide they don't want to take the risk in hiring me. Who knows, but I'm keeping it kind of close to the vest.

But just to keep this from being a complete downer....Update Pics!

My Little Commissar! Still some stuff to do, got to finish the coat, adn various other accessories, but it's getting there!

Thanks for stopping by,

RSJake

Dude That absolutely blows... You have my most sincere prayers.

It is however good to see you posting stuff again...

Man my prayers are with you and your wife. Unemployment sucks right now, I've been looking since February. Luckily wife makes decent money, and hopefully we can pull this off with me being at home so no daycare costs. Been looking at overnight jobs lately to earn some money, but even those are tough.

Thanks guys! Your support means worlds to me!

They do tell me though, that if you're going to have cancer, Kindey (Renal) Cancer is the one to have. Low chance of it spreading, and removal is fairly safe, and there is still another kidney left, so few complications.

But yes, the money concern is what has caused me the most tears the last few days. The Doc tells me the procedure is around 10 to 20K, and that is just the hospital costs. Sucks the big one.

But on the bright side, I am still otherwise healthy, and I'm not in any physical pain. So I can keep working.

Don't worry, I'll be fine. That's what the wife says anyway! We'll get through this.

And thanks on the Pony! I really like how it's coming along! I'll try to get back into the sculpt when I get back home in a few weeks, right now I am just trying to spend some quality time with my wife and girls before I have to leave.

Thanks again everyone, you guys are great!

Lightbulb. Perhaps try and run a crowdsourced campaign ala indigog or kickstarter. To raise funds to assist with the medical stuff.

Yes that's an idea Galorn a group sourced campaign, although I would think his time is going to be quite sparse at the moment with treatment and working away.

Take care Jake and take some quality time with the family, stay positive as I believe a positive mind does help

Sorry to hear your bad news mate. You and the missus look out for each other and let the things that don't matter slide until you get back on your feet. I'm sure you'll bounce back to form before you know it.

And the pony is looking tops, love the texture on the coat.

Take care and keep smiling!

I'll keep you all in my thoughts, because you guys make me smile. With all this time out of town, I might be able to catch up on the blogs I've been neglecting! I don't even know WHAT Dave has been up to, and who knows what masterpiece Klaus is working on right now!

Thanks Again for all your well-wishes and prayers. Let's hope everything works out.

Until later,

Thanks Storag!

Well, so much for me having loads of extra time here, I have about an hour after work to read a bit before I pass out.

I am working in Alaska. On the North Slope. Like the most northern part you can possibly get to. It's been pretty cold, but I am working inside for now. I may be going outside next week.

I'm working 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off. 12 + hours per day. It's grueling, but I need something to pay the bills since I got laid off. It's hard on my wife, being with the kids and holding down a full time job. She is amazing!

I am about to crash, can hardly keep my eyes open!

I will hopefully have time at the end of my tour to work on hobby stuff, so stay tuned!!!

I am commenting way later than intended...
I have to say I was at first at a total lost for words.
your current problems are probably my worst fears cobbled in one tight package...it really sucks to be not able to really help you in these times..it is so easy to say ...wee are here for you.. but you are a very brave man, in these times you even work ad push yourself so hard... I have the deepest respect for you and how you tackle your situation...I really hope that all these costs and the distances and the treatment never dampen your spirits! I bet I couldn't cope the way you do now...fighting like that... you earn extra manliness points!
I wish you all the best!

also... your pony looks very cool...the cloth of the coat in particular, also.. the world probably has never seen a more grim looking pony like that !

Thanks for your support guys. I'm not sure how "manly" it is, it feels more like I'm abandoning my family, especially when my daughter tells me she wants me to come home right now! She is sweet, and I hate to make her sad. fortunately, they are talking about setting me up on a 2 week on/off schedule, and I think that will go over well with the kids, and be easier on me too.

About worst fears Vik, I'll take any hardship I have to as long as my kids are ok. My worst fear is something bad happening to them. So, this, I can handle this.

And Dave, Love the Minion!

That MLP Commissar is creepy. Like a lot creepy. Which means it's excellent. Good job.

Sorry to hear about the load you are carrying. I don't have anything pertinent to add and I know that words do not change anything, but I hope a windfall of excellent luck falls your way and brings new prosperity to you and your family.

If not, maybe you can try sacrificing a Nurgle cultist to Tzeentch. The Changer of Ways is fickle, but it's worth a shot. However, if you get turned into Chaos Spawn I had nothing to do with this idea and will vehemently deny any responsibility for your actions.

Jake I truly take my hat of to you sir your determination and dedication to your family is truly honourable, even in this time of hardship you have managed to push aside your own issues to concentrate on your family's needs and well being.

You truly are the definition of the word father, you have continued on where many would have given up or simply broken down.
I admire your strength and courage and hope that things turn around for you quickly, I wish you luck in your job prospects and good health.

Thanks again everyone! Been working long hours lately....15 hours plus for a while there. 12 hour minimum. Been over 2 weeks since I headed up here to Alaska. One week left. Just in time for my youngest daughter's birthday! The work is exhausting. But the paychecks are awesome! I really, really hope to get some more work done on the MLP commissar before my surgery, so stay tuned!

Hi everyone!

I have a health update if not a sculpting update! Hopefully a sculpting update sooner than later though.

Surgery to remove my kidney went off without complications last Monday. Got out of the hospital on Wednesday, been sleeping most of my days away since then. I have been getting up and around like they reccomended, and I am doing much better.

Still lots of pain if I forget to take my meds, but with them, it is tollerable. I think I would even feel up to going back to work right now if I had to, not going back until next week though.

Family and friends have been amazingly supportive, and I know all of your prayers, well wishes and support helped too. Knowing that I have an extra cheerleading section helped. I thought about you all, and about sculpting quite a bit while I was bed ridden at the hospital. So again, thank you all.

Pathology has come back on the tumor: It was 4.5cm diameter, or about the size of a plum. It was cancerous. But it was fully contained, and did not spread or infect any other organs or lymph nodes. As far as the doctor can tell, there will be no need for Radiation or Chemo.

So, all in all, a horrible experience that I hope no one has to go through, but far less serious or dangerous than a lot of people I know have gone through. And on the bright side, it could have been a lot worse, so I count my blessings, my friends like you all, and my family, and I love them all even more than before and can appreciate eveyone in my life just a little more than I did before. Life is fleeting, and you never know what can happen tomorrow.

Thank you all again so much,
RSJake
