As a matter of fact I did ask! The Dr. said no. But they did take a picture of it! I'll get the picture Wednesday at my follow up appointment.

Thanks guys!

I am really happy for you and your family. I imagine it's the most relieved you've ever felt in your life. I frequently make the same joke to the folks on Dakka that are -obsessive hoarders- enthusiastic collectors that they won't live long enough to finish the projects they have and all they are really doing is ensuring their kids will have a lot of junk to sell at the estate auction. I won't be saying that again.

Just FYI, I've mentioned you in my re-purposed model entry for a contest that inmygravenimage is running. I used 3 skulls and a spike. You'll be famous in no time.

Thanks again everyone!

Been almost 2 weeks since the surgery. I am feeling almost 100%! I am heading back to Alaska soon, so I'm glad I'm feeling better.

I got the picture the other day. Not as cool as I thought it would be, pretty gross actually. The kidney was a lot bigger than I thought it would be about 1.5 times bigger than my closed fist. About 4 pounds or so. The tumor didn't look like a plum. not much like anything I can describe.

Anyway, glad it's out.

Vik, not sure yet on the financial damage the operation will be doing to us, we haven't gotten a bill yet. I'm sure it will be bad.

On the hobby front, I did sit down to do some sculpting on the My Little Commissar yesterday! Just about done with the coat, and then it needs some Kasrkin-type Shin Guards and a Re-breather (will be a separate piece). And then the *shudder* casting. I have not had good luck in the casting department lately.

I think it might be a bad batch of resin. It keeps weeping oily stuff after casting, and makes it hard to paint.

Also my molds have been leaving much to be desired. Not sure why, I'm using the same methods for a while, but the last set of molds, a couple of months ago now, mostly were crap.

Hopefully I can figure that stuff out.

I don't know if I'll be able to finish the MLC before I head up, I doubt it, but I'll try to get some pics soon, my usual computer has crapped out, and I don't know if my camera will download to my wife's laptop.

Anyways, thanks for stopping by, update pics soon I hope.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Dude, the strength you've shown to get through this particularly difficult episode in your life is inspiring. It puts so much of life into perspective for us all. Hope the money side is not too much of a burden for you - take care while in Alaska, that's a tough environment by all accounts...

Glad your recovering, hope the surgery cost doesn't do you in. Obamacare might actually have done someone a favor, then I would complain about it less.

Thanks for the support guys!

Valhalla: I don't know about the mechanicus...I didn't get any machine parts put back in, just flesh parts removed. Does that count?

Dave: I love that song! Hummed it the whole plane trip up the first time! Pissed off a couple of people, but so what?

Still feeling good about Alaska, it's not all that harsh, they provide you with extreme cold weather gear, and it's all about safety up there, they want to keep you as safe as possible...it's cost effective to keep us healthy!

Also, I'll be inside like 95% of the time. And I'm on light duty for a while.

Also, I'm 13 hours and counting since my last pain pill! No ill effects yet.

Not sure if Obamacare will help or hinder me. But making the $ I'll be making in Alaska sure will, so there really wasn't a choice in the matter, I have to go. Feeling better or not, we run out of money this week, so I'm heading up.

I've been pushing myself pretty hard ever since the surgery, to get up and walk, to start lifting small weights, to lift heavier and bigger stuff, to go on walks with my girls...and so on. Everyone keeps telling me to relax and enjoy my down time. I can't afford to relax too much, so much is depending on me going back to work.

On the hobby front, I was about to take some pics this morning...one picture in and the camera dies, and no batteries in the whole freaking house!!! So I have the rechargeable one charging...not sure how long that will take. Maybe I'll just go and get some fresh ones. What a pain! At least it gives me time to get some laundry done! Joy!

Well, I'll hopefully get those picture taken before the end of the day. One way or another.

Thanks for stopping by this ever increasingly inaccurately named "Work in Progress" Blog.

Haha! Eureka! So the batteries had to charge for a few hours. They did actually work! Then, as luck would have it, I couldn't find the camera bag...that is where the download cable is!

So, I'm ripping up the basement storage area (my workspace) where I last saw it. No luck. Then I remember the wife was snooping around there yesterday looking for her Scrapbooking stuff. Hhhmmmmm. So just on the off chance, I look in our room. There it is in her closet!

Which is fine, it's her camera bag, I bought it for her, but she never uses it! How rude of her to use the bag for it's intended purpose!

Anyway, Here are some pics of the Commissar Pony progress to date:

Again, the hole in the back of the pony is where the tail fits into.
And there is still some work to be done to the under side, or the "Front" of the trench coat.
and again I still need to do the shin guards and the re-breather. But every little bit gets me closer!

@ Da Boss: Thank you very much, I just hope my kids (and all kids really) understand someday what we as parents put ourselves through to help make thire lives easier while preparing them for how cruel the world can be. I know I never appreciated what my mom went through until I became a parent. I guess I will have to wait for that to get any thanks for the little snots...I can wait.

@ Galorn: I do have a pressure pot. I think my problem is I have been trying to make my mold too big and/or complex, and I am over-reaching my skill level. I need to K.I.S.S., with emphasis on the "Stupid" part.

Thanks,
RSJake

The casts keep coming out too thin or warped. I think I just need to slow down when I get back into casting and get back to the fundamentals, and maybe get something stronger and more rigid for the mold walls.

1mm stuff probably flexes a bit under pressure. LEGO however, can withstand the pressure and stay straight.

Not sure why the facination on this forum for the My Little Pony stuff, but it is what it is.

Nice work on the helldrake conversion. I HATE the current model. It makes me upset to even see it. THUS , i like the one that you are making. Good to see an imaginative conversion that does not just emulate a dinobot. Jobs a good un.

Ps. Cant wait to see it with some paint on it.
