Well, my FW complaint relating to Sisters would be that it's expensive. Why should I have to shell out ~100€ for a 2 hull point flyer (Avenger Strike Fighter) when Necrons get 36€ 3 hull point Night/Doom Scythe kits? And the IA Aeronautica book too ofc...
Sure, take some allies you say. But I sold off my IG years ago. And don't really see why I should have to use another army to cover the weaknesses of the one I'm using.

I'd suggest 4 Crusaders and 6 Assassins... because they come in boxes of 2.
Allied IG Blob Squad.
St Celestine, Jacobus and 40-60 Guardsmen. Throw in power axes for the sgts and some heavy/specials. You now have a fearless, FNP, +1 Attack, Reroll charges blob of 40+ guys who soak the wounds through Celestine. Try to get them off an objective. I also add a Primaris to mine (since you need an HQ from IG). If he gets Endurance from Biomancy, it is just hilarious. Celestine gets It will not die and the blob gets Relentless.
As for 2 Assassins, I made mine out of wyches and bits.
Yeah, I am cautiously riding the Jacobus-Conclave train right now. 5 crusaders with axes, 5 assassins with swords and maces, primaris psyker with an axe, Jacobus and Celestine. Against shooty armies it can push forward and soak a lot of punishment, and against assaulty armies (specifically daemons) it serves as an amazing shield. Watching my opponent charge with 5 spawn only to pick up 4 from the assassin mace attacks was outstanding. One of the benefits of people not really knowing Sisters is that they under estimate the unit greatly. The psyker can soak challenges, only to be saved by Celestine once the rest of the unit has been mopped up (assuming the psyker survives).
The conclave costs less than a 40 guard blob with axes and arguably gets the job done better (actually, is it even close? I would need to include lasgun shots, but I feel like Jacobus+Assassins would out-wound most things compared to Jacobus+Guard, certainly MEQ and probably TEQ). Sure, the conclave cannot hold an objective, but it certainly can contest and cannot really be ignored - whereas the blob can be, without ever really threatening anything.

Well the blob can take heavy weapons teams as part of the infantry squads and add long range auto-cannons or lascannons cheaply. Especially when relentless.
The blob is versatile, while the conclave can only mulch stuff in combat and needs to walk over to do it.

As for the ratio... I have not found anything I did not clean up in 2 rounds (mine, and my opponent's) with 5 assassins in the conclave. In fact, I would rather end combat in their turn so as to keep the unit safe from a round of shooting. I *LOVE* when people challenge because it means 1 model is almost certainly going to survive (go go Primaris "combat"! )
I almost always would rather have the extra Crusader to soak something nasty (either for Celestine, or just to bubble-wrap the assassins from all angles) than the extra Assassin attacks. I am defintely sold on 5 and 5, and with the addition of Celestine into the conclave, I was even considering going 6 Crusaders and 4 Assassins... (but then I really need to get the charge on someone, 5 assassins makes charging or being charged moot thus far). Absolutely agree. 100%
What I tell myself though, is... if I wanted an expensive troop choice I'd ally with GK. Paying 300+ points for a troop (when my sisters already run 180-190) just pains me
What tipped the scale for me is the amount of punishment the conclave can absorb (in a different manner than a blob... all the ignores cover shots from tau make my blobs sad pandas) and its ability to remain a threat on offense OR defense, ya know?

The difference is that the blob squad is a good troop. Conclave can absorb a lot of punishment, but the Blob can absorb a lot of punishment and score. Plus, I get to use my redemptionist models.

True true.
Out of curiosity, how do you run your BSSs? I have found my favorite configuration to be 10 ladies, MM, flamer, combi-flamer in a rhino with a dozer... and they tend to be very aggressive with plasma vets in a chimera rolling between.
I'll have to post my current list later so you can provide some feedback, but it is really polarized between distance-shooty (2 exorcists, rets, manticore) and aggressive-shooty (all my troops, dominions) rounded out with a vendetta and my conclave-"star".

Here's some pics:
The pilot is an immolator pilot with Guardian Jetbike legs and a backpack (to bulk her). Had to shave off the DA icons on the lower tail flap and the bottom of the missile pods. Put the Rhino door icons on the bottom of the missile pods (not shown) to cover the shaving there. Haven't done anything to the lower tail flap yet. The cherub tail-gunner is to rep the defensive stubber with rear arc.
Here's the original from FW's site:
From a counts-as standpoint, I think I'm doing pretty okay. Weapons are largely in the same place. Lascannons are a bit wider out but still fixed forward. Magnetized cherub has a better arc, so I will have to play it straight back. I need to find someone who has an Avenger locally to compare to for size and such, but I'm pretty happy with it. Now to paint!
Just found up that some upcoming tournaments I'm headed to are going to allow FW... which book has the Strike Fighter in it?
Edit: Nevermind, if I bothered to read the entire section on the FW page I would look less foolish now!

Glad I could help. It isn't super good, but it looks like fun. I'm basically giving up two exorcists (good units) for two avengers (okay units). It'll be fun.

That's the great thing about SoB, you don't have to choose! Everything looks good.
My SOB are one of my oldest and favorite armies and there are not ugly models/units in the army. In fact, all of my armies are generally optimized and look good.

Very good thread so far. If its not out of line I would like to see what you folks would change in a 2k army I am getting ready to finish painting.
A quick word first. I have not played a game since 4th edition and have just been picking up cool models to paint. This army represents a collection of models that I really like. Its not a win at all costs list. Also it encompasses nearly all the 40k minis I own. Some, like the Land Raider converted into a mobile shrine, are there for the amount of flavor they add. With that in mind I would like to hear what you would tweak in this list.
HQ:
Celestine
Hereticus Inquistor (w/ 3 servo skulls, power armor, psyocculum)
Elites:
Purifiers x10 (4 psycannons, Psybolt ammo, 2 hammers)
Troops:
GK Terminators x5 (1 incinerator, 3 halbreds, 1 sword, 1 hammer)
BSS x10 (MM, MG)
BSS x10 (MM, MG)
Fast:
Dominions x6 (2 MG, Combi Melta)
-Immolator (MM)
Dominions x6 (2 MG, Combi Melta)
-Immolator (MM)
Heavy:
Land Raider w/ Search light
Exorcist
Exorcist
Aegis Defense Line w/ Quad gun.
1999 points
The Inq goes with the Purifiers behind the ADL and mans the Quad Gun.
So there it is. I have no seraphim to add to the list, I do have a small assortment of other sisters figs with different weapon options. Also I have a 2 BSS rhinos sitting around and a GK Razor back as well.
Thanks for any input.

You should have rides for the BSS. Even if it is just a stock Rhino. And the Land Raider feels a bit out of place, I would swap it for a couple rhinos and another exorcist or something similar.

The Land Raider is the transport for the 5 termis whom I had planned to use in a counter attack role. You think they should walk or use the skulls to Deepstrike in? If so should I change the incinerator for a psycannon?

DS on the skulls yes, and definitely a psycannon over the incinerator. Better off putting flamers on the BSS squads if you want some templates (assuming you give them rhinos). You can also just march the termis up in front of the rhinos (potentially giving the rhinos a cover save too) or behind them, depending on what you are facing.

I have been using them for 5 girl dominion squads. They have been pretty effective.
12" scout move.
6" move, giving Immolator a 42" threat radius with TLMM and the Dominion girls a 36" for the melta guns.

So after fiddling around with the lists a bit and making some major adjustments, here is the list I have settled on. I'm still pretty new to 40k so I don't know all of the threats I may face, but the list has held up thus far.
HQ
Celestian
Coteaz
Troops
-10 BSS w. H.Flamer, Flamer, 2x plasma pistol sup riding a rhino with headlights
-10 BSS w. H. Flamer, Flamer, 2x plasma pistol sup
-5 Death cult assassians, 5 crusaders -- rides chimera
-3 servitors w. plasma cannons, 3 henchmen w. plasma guns, 3 henchmen with bolt guns, 3 crusaders -- (Coteaz goes here)
Fast
-8 Seraphim including 2x hand flamers and a sup with p.sword and plasma pistol (celestine goes in here)
-8 Seraphim including 2x hand flamers and a sup with an eviscerator and a plasma pistol
-6 Dominion squad including 2x melta, sup with combi melta riding an immolator with headlights and a TL multimelta
Heavy
10 Ret squad including 3 heavy bolters, 1 MM, a sup and 5 extra wounds that can get rending on their bolters
1 exorcist
it comes out to 1850 which was my target and so far the things that have worked very well are the seraphim (i've fast become a huge fan of them) and Coteaz's template lobbing. The plasma on the seraphim kills the sup more than anything else so i'm thinking of changing that... but the BSS plasma sup's have work wonderfully. I'm just not sure of the price because of the limited range. It makes for a very expensive single model.
One thing that I will not do is have any actual Grey Knights in the list. Inq troops are fine, but Grey Knights don't play well with Sisters and will be excluded reguardless of their abilities.
I would like to add at least 1 more rhino for the other BSS squad, but deciding what to drop is always the trick. I suppose it is needed though.
