Love the chaos, with only two small exceptions: Why the second identical bolter guy? 5 unique models and then someone got lazy?
Also, with the Cultists - GORGEOUS - but so sad that we have 4 autogun models, 4 pistol/ccw and then a single "heavy" and "leader" for each sprue. I'd have loved it if they at least had ten bodies that could be either rifle or pistol. Then we could create some more combinations with the figures.

This is an AOBR esque starter set. Be glad they aren't holding the guns to their chests and that they have options at all.

From earlier in this thread:
jifel wrote:This isn't worth making it's own thread, but based on the rumors we have, the BRB basically tells us who the Chaos Marines are...
Ok, so rumors say that the box is called Dark Vengeance, last I checked. Check out the top right of pg. 176 in the big Book.
"Dark Vengeance: The Dark Angels 5th Company battles elements of the Crimson Slaughter for control of the Hellfire Stone. The Nephilim sector trembles as the hated foes clash..."
Ok, so if the Dark Vengeance rumor is true, then it seems clear that the "Crimson Slaughter" will be the warband in the new box. After all, Chaos is pretty much guarenteed, but who is still up for guesses.
So, who are these guys? Well, check out p. 299 in the BRB... We get a picture of a basic Bolter Marine from the Crimson Slaughter. Red armor with Gold Trim, nothing extra ordinary amongst the various chaos armies, but hey, its something to off of right?
I didn't make this it's own thread, as I'm sure someone else has seen this. However, I hadnt heard it yet, so I figured I might as well put it up!
Thanks, Tim. What good is the internet if you can't rely on someone else doing work for you, eh?
You'll probably appreciate this too:

I'm actually quite shocked that they released Chapter specific models. What made the last boxed set so successful was the fact that the Marines in it could be anybody, not just Ultramarines...

then again perhaps they don't actually want everyone and his sister buying cheap starter marines for their armies; the option being there gives those on a tight budget a chance but they'll want the much higher profits on for example the tac squad box to keep flowing in as much as they can...

It was bound to happen! I always like when this happens to GW. Don't get me wrong I love 40k but their stance on rumor squashing and zero build up to things through actual marketing drives me nuts.

I still don't entirely believe that the "no leaks guys! Oh no, look at all these leaks!" approach isn't intentional, but anyway.
They don't mean legally pursue either, they're going to chase those fethers through the streets.

I continue to wonder just how many of those stupid things they have left fro the 3rd ed starter that they are still including them in the starter boxes 3 editions later...

When demoing the game I use them from time to time, plus at the FLGS the 20 or so tape measures we have in a pile lying around sometime get misplaced so the whippy sticks get busted out here to there. However the biggest feature of them is to pretend your Wolverine' and claw at things.

They are preferable to tape measures when playing games like Necromunda. Much easier to measure through the multi-level buildings and such.

They should have sent a non disclosure form for the email telling everyone about the forthcoming non disclosure pack. I also notice that there is no cyanide pill in the secret pack; schoolboy error that. They could be captured but Mantic agents and force to disclose secret hush hush stuff. The next thing you know they will be copying new GW games not just long OOP one.

That email made me smile at the thought that they might send it to just the one store they suspect of leaking information as a last ditch attempt to see if it was the source of the leak.

They first appeared in the original Necromunda boxed game which came out when 40k was in it's second edition. 40k Second ed came out in 1993, Necromunda came out in 1995 and 40k third ed came out 1998.
