Looks good. I checked out that link of the unboxing, and I have to say, everything looks great... for plastic! Let alone snap fits!

The chosen are just astounding. They make everything else on the sprue look like junk, especially those traitors. I've used snap-fit guardsman (the five model kit) and these look even worse than those, if I'm being frank.

Having said that, the level of detail on the chosen exceeds the terminator kit (which is nothing to write home about...), and looking at the possessed sprues, they appear to be on the same level, at least in terms of detail.

At least update the images to the official ones, you've managed to create a new thread and keep the borked cultist pic.

Why bother creating a new thread but still keep the leaked pics?

You don't need to do anything. You just got a dud batch. When the Defiler first came out I bought two and one of the boxes had two Defilers in it. It happens.

Call GW and get them to send you the missing sprues.

This was my biggest problem with the new box. While the quality of the sculpts is spectacular, there are too many fiddly bits and weirdly placed connections to the sprues. I managed to break the captain's wings while trying to get them out and the swords are paper-thin, making me wonder how long will they last.

My main issue is that some of the Marine models have really crappy cast shoulder pads with soft detail. Had no trouble with the swords or the many, many wings however.

Yeah I spent most of yesterday evening trying to sort out the tactical symbols, very poor. Some of the knee pad/shin joints were pretty crap too.

The plastic is very thin in places, my Captain Shoulder wing is bent a little out of shape, but hopefully when undercoated and then painted it'll not stand out.

Loving the detail overall though. Have been adding some bits from my spare Dark Angel sprues I brought for Chaos Conversions a year back.

Once I'm done I'll share some pics.

Second box: 3 chaos sprues, one cultist/tac sprue, one LE Chaplain sprue.

Seems silly to need 3 boxes to get one full set. I've got one tac squad, and a bunch of chosen without packs. Lots of termies. The Hellbrute is for all intents and purposes a mmelta/fist dread without a stormbolter/hvy flamer option. If they don't get dreadclaws in the Chaos codex, and the things still go crazy on occasion, who's going to want a hellbrute? Should make a nice oblit though.

I'd say that you've had three boxes that have been mis-packed. I bought two and got the same in each (as it should be).

The minis ae nice - but need a little work given the 'push fit' nature of them.

I picked up my pre-ordered Limited box from the Factory store. When I opened it. It contained 2 Hellbrute Sprues, 1 LE Chaplain, 2 cult/tac sprues. I did not contain the Dark angel sprue with the two charachter models in it. I took it back to the Factory store and showed it to the Store Manager. He immediately replaced the box with a new one. We opened it there in the store to make sure everything was in order, and it was this time. He even gave me the LE chaplain from the first messed up box as an extra for my time and trouble driving back to the store. My personal opinion is that with a boxed set over $100 there should not be mistakes, but the store manager took care of the problem immediately. So, I guess I would give the situation and draw. Problem found/problem fixed.

Mm, on my Cultist + Tac sprues, the mould lines were awful, which since they make up the majority of the models, isn't good at all...

So is it me or are the chaos marines "true scale" from the pictures ive seen they look like they dwarf the power armored dark angels and are closer in size to terminators.

Forgive me if the answer to this question is found elsewhere, but can you customize the loadout on these units or is it like AoBR where you get the gear that GW wants you to get?

You get the gear that GW wants you to get, plasma gun, plasma pistol and plasma cannon on the marines squad for instance.

I think we could see the chaplain released solo at a later date. Perhaps as part of the first wave of plastic 40k charactes? (ala the fantasy ones).

After all - if you read the text it says that the box set w/ the chaplain is the limited edition. Not the chaplain himself.

Besides - if he were released seperately - he'd certainly be more than $8, so it'd still be a good deal to get him now.

Well the copies our group ordered (4 copies) are on their way. $105 each (incl. shipping) is quite a bit better than paying $180 local retail.

Picked one up today at the FLGS, very impressed with the models.

The mold quality is excellent, and because they're "single pose" they have a lot of detail baked in. The DAs are a bit less impressive than the Chaos stuff, but that stuff is really, really great.

A great deal at the price they're asking, especially since the "little" rulebook is much preferrable for actually playing the game, and an extra set of templates and scatter dice never hurts.

Might convince me to paint up some Chaos (which is the point, right?).

Anyone else have any issues with getting their Hellbrute together? All of the other models I've done so far (the chaos ones and special characters) all fit together perfectly with hardly noticable seams, which I found really impressive given the way they did some of the chosen.

But the Hellbrute just wouldn't line up for me. I've got some pretty big gaps on the Multi-Melta and the left leg that are going to require glue to fix.

Really impressed with the quality of the set overall, and the fact that I'll have to glue a model that supposed to be snap-fit isn't anything that I'm up in arms over. My box was packed correctly model wise, but my mini rulebook was packed with the first several pages folded over. The guy at the store I was at did right and promptly opened up another box and swapped out the packet containing the manual on the spot.

Same. I also noticed that the sorta "buggy antenna" chaos Marine's antenna was bent, altho not broken. Possibly related.

I've noticed with GW's newer kits that the parts fit is as close to flawless as I've ever seen in an injection molded kit. I've built a LOT of kits over the years (actually where the hobby started for me), and got very used to filling, sanding etc, (particularly on airfcraft). The fit that GW has had on some of their kits I've done recently is, effectively, perfect. Even Tamiya couldn't do so well back in the day.

Not so much about GW, as the state of CAD and manufacturing in general, but still, really good quality.

I got a chance to look at an open box today at a local store and it was sort of Meh...

The hellbrute wasnt as big in real life as I expected he would be.

The cultists didnt pop as much as I had hoped. The Chaplain is a nice model.

I think I'm all set with this one.

Have I missed something, or are there no points values for the cultists/hellbrute anywhere? As far as I can see they can only be used in the crappy dark vengeance missions until a new codex comes out. Unless you use the cultists as IG allies or something? and then you're stuck using the brute as a crappy chaos dread.

I bought the box with the hope of actually being able to use it....not amused.

You can use it, for the exact missions also provided in the box!

If you want to use these fine minis for things other than the starter box scenarios then you will have to wait for the month or so until the new codex is out. Truly this is an exquisite pain we bear.

Or you could make up some points!
Or you could spend your time modding/painting your minis so they look sweet when they do have rules!
Or you can complain on the innerwebs!

Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.
