Update 23/6/13

I have been working on the legs still and they are taking time.

I will be putting my three girls into the South Brent carnival on the 29th of this month
so they can practice their routines. That being said I have made the bolter for one of
them to carry. I have ordered a pistol that fires single shots so I can make a scout
sniper rifle the same way as I made the bolter pictured here.

The bolter here is 20in long and 13in high, Should be a big weapon for a 8 year old to carry
and it is very light weight. light comes from the barrel when trigger is pressed and laser sound effects.

I bit more work to do here like the eagle.

A finished side, What do you think?

I see your point.

But I can't help it if i like big guns and I cannot lie.

I am going to gamesworkshop now to buy some more wash for the dreadnought main body
and will take the bolter and get a few people to hold it and take a few pictures and post it on here
so you can see what it looks like with a person holding it.

Of course they don't know, it's on he internet . I was just wondering if the shop manager had made arrangements. Have you thought about renting it and yourself out for kids birthday parties? You could stomp into their backyards, flip over a table or two and stomp out.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Bolter looks great, I too wondered if the rear was too long, but looks great in the 'real life' shots. Ae you though leaving the wing behind the skull as painted, I think it would look better as an embellished part? Although I'm sure you have enough work too do that that's a minor tweak too far...

I will do a bit of the girls costumes and to the legs of the dreadnought in the morning of sat 29th june.

I am entering the scouts in the South Brent carnival this saturday so they
can practice there roles. I will be walking with them and watching, also doing some
videoing, There costumes are not finished yet, but looking ok so far.

The pistol has now arrived so I can start building a scout sniper rifle for one of the children to use.

On sunday i have a few people turning up at my house to help me level the main body of the dreadnought
with the legs and install the harness into the main body.

See you soon paul.

A scout cloak has been made, photos to follow, but the sniper marine scout costume for poppy my 8 yr old is not finished yet.
I am making a sniper rifle soon for her costume.

Only one child will have a cloak. one is anti tank with a rocket launcher, another has a bolter and a sniper scout. Then there is the support dreadnought later, me.

lol. I love how everyone is all snobbish-like with their "Oh, pfaw, I'm a queen/princess/knight!" and your kids are like "GRIMDARK".

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not quite feeling the white pants for the scout armour, and the missile launcher looks a tad small. But otherwise, splendid!

Update 2/6/13
Here are the awards we got from entering South Brent carnival.
This was only a small carnival and will have tougher time later on.
Not a bad start bearing in mind the scout costumes are not finished yet.

I have taken on board the comment about the rocket launcher being too small
I will look at that again later, With that said when you have little kids having to walk
3 miles in Bridgwater carnival It maybe a bit much for them.

Awesome job on the wins.

As for the missile launcher, cast it in a foam maybe? I know making it out of pvc would probably make it to heavy. Or here's a thought, try concrete form tubes. They're made from cardboard and come in a bunch of sizes, thatd make it light but large

Update 2/6/13

Time is getting close to my first carnival that i call my test carnival as it only small. South Brent 29th June.

Making this carnival will be tight, If I don't make it , its not the end of the world as I would rather
get it right than rush it.

Legs are proving to take more time than I first thought.

The Space marine scouts ( My kids) have been training and practicing there part in the carnival.
The kids will use cover in the carnival like army soldiers do in real life and they have guns that light
up and have firing sounds. The dreadnought is in command of the scouts as the dreadnought out
ranks them and is in touch with the command ship in space.Scout orders to attack, charge, defend,
follow the dreadnought and retreat are give thought the dread. Should be a lot of fun.

I have been working on fitting the ammo feed to the Assault cannon right arm as well.

Paul

This project is incredible, so it kind of pains me to point out a flaw...

Do you realize your ammo is going into the assault cannon backwards?
